xico. Chihuahua State Desert.

It was the largest desert in xico, bordering the United States in the northeast, spanning a vast area, almost the size of the United Kingdom.

The weather was scorching.

Dressed only in shorts, every bit of your balls was soaked with sweat.

Lying on the ground, lizards were flipping their bodies, sticking out tongues, it was too hot!

Damnit, what kind of dogshit weather is this?

It was already October, could it still be this hot?

The cacti were wilted and despondent, as if beaten down by airplanes.

Suddenly, the lizard leaped up as its pupils sharply focused, and it saw a black SUV speeding through the desert.

There were various household items on the roof of the car.

At a glance, you could tell they ca here to travel…

The Chihuahua State Desert could always attract so Yanks; strangely enough, don’t these Aricans know that xico is dangerous?

But, perhaps this is the "aning" of life—enjoying dangerous travels, tasting a life cracking open under bullets!

Zzz~

The SUV ca to a stop, the door opened, and a woman got out clutching her stomach, a pained expression on her face.

The lizard slled the scent of blood in the air, burrowed into the ground, and followed the scent trail of the woman.

It erged in another place.

It saw the woman find a mound of cacti and then squat down…

"Eh?" The woman felt as if she were stepping on sothing, sothing hard and not at all like mud. Could it be a treasure?

Her eyes lit up, she pulled up her pants, then raised her hands and shouted, "Darling! Darling!"

The two n leaning on the SUV smoking thought sothing had happened and hurriedly ran over.

"There’s sothing under here. Do you think it could be a treasure? It is said that there were Aztec treasures around here."

The two n exchanged glances, one of them stomped with his foot a few tis, "It’s fresh soil, feels like it’s just been buried."

"Could it be that a drug trafficker hid money here?" asked the woman.

The ntion of that brightened everyone’s expressions.

The US-xico news often reported on tourists stumbling upon money hidden by drug traffickers.

xican drug traffickers liked to dig holes; their ill-gotten gains weren’t clean and they needed ti to launder it, but had nowhere to put it, so it would end up hidden in unfinished buildings, the desert, or the wilderness.

In 1986, a family of five from Texas went on vacation to xico and found $600,000 in the wall of a motel!

The incident caused quite a stir at the ti; they frequented high-end places with the money and constantly appeared in front of reporters.

They even joked that xico was their lucky land.

Then…

Five days later, they were gunned down in the street by a gunman at a shopping mall!

But this didn’t snuff out so Aricans’ exploratory spirit (wanting money more than fearing death).

After all, having enjoyed the money lavishly, it wouldn’t be too bad.

"I’ll go get the tools!" said one man, wearing a short-sleeved vest, running back to the SUV in a hurry, grabbing two shovels on his way back.

Two strong n began digging vigorously; it wasn’t buried deep, just a little over a ter.

Clang~

They hit sothing. The group exchanged looks, none minding the dirt as they directly dug in.

They pulled a drum out from the ground.

It was rather heavy!

"Pry it open, pry it open!" the woman almost shouted excitedly.

But at this mont, the two strong n realized sothing was amiss—this drum, how did it not seem like the kind used for holding money?

But having pulled it all the way up, they had to pry it open to check.

They hesitated for a mont, opened the lid, and upon opening it, their eyes widened in shock!

And the woman too peeked over, her mouth agape wide enough to fit a football, her pupils constricting, "Ahhh!!!"

The distant lizard got such a fright that it skittered away.

Was it really... You thought you could just dig anywhere in xico?

Luigi Cardona was dressed neatly in the National Guard uniform. Despite the hot weather, he was ticulous, his expression stern.

His subordinates were equally strict.

They had no choice; Luigi Cardona was strict, even harsh. He didn’t consider the National Guard to be a second-line force; he always believed that the army would eventually go to the front lines.

Therefore, no alcoholism or gambling was allowed, and strict daily training was enforced.

The subordinates complained endlessly, but as the head of the Sonora State National Guard, he led the training himself, and therefore his subordinates couldn’t say much.

They simply had to grit their teeth and train.

He walked with his adjutant into the quarantine area, where a forensic examiner was conducting an autopsy on a corpse. If it were just an ordinary person, it wouldn’t matter—where in xico did people not die?

But this person had a locator found in his rectum, and it was a type unique to "Northern xico," indicating that they served as an intelligence agent for the Northern Army. With that, the situation could be big or small.

"Commander!"

Luigi Cardona nodded, "How’s the inspection going?"

The forensic examiner, wearing a mask, furrowed his brow, "The victim suffered prolonged abuse before death, but in the end, he was tied up inside a drum and subrged in concrete, smothering him inside."

"Such cruel thods," Luigi Cardona sighed.

The coroner nodded, handing over a piece of paper, "This was found on his body."

Luigi spread out the paper and saw it was a photograph.

In front of a house door, a man was hugging a little girl, with a small dog sitting next to her, tongue sticking out, looking happy, with these words on the back: Goodnight~ Sweet dreams~

"Boss, the intelligence officer has arrived," his adjutant called out, and Luigi Cardona turned his head just as a Humr SUV pulled in. Three n jumped down from it, and upon seeing his uniform, they approached, "Head of First Division at the Intelligence Bureau, Jeff Bennett!"
