Chapter 907: Chapter 477: The Bottom Line of Humanity—Victor!_2
“Back in Arkansas, he was his closest friend. Then, after he got caught up in a sex scandal and bribery allegations, he pushed Sedrick to the surface and pinned all the bla on him. You’re his aide; you should know better than I just how innocent he was. Do you rember where he is now?”
Albert Gore spread his hands. “Dead, stabbed with a toothbrush in Rikers Island Prison, three days before he was scheduled to appear in court.”
As he spoke, he leaned forward. “For those he deems useless, he never leaves loose ends!”
Angel’s mind was in turmoil. As a confidant, of course, he knew all the things Clinton had done. He was a participant then, but now… he might find himself becoming a victim, and that left him at a loss for what to do.
“Leave yourself an escape route!”
The Vice President stood up, patted him on the shoulder, pressing hard, his tone deep and cryptic. Then, cigarette dangling from his lips and shaking his head, he walked out of the room to his own quarters.
Angel’s complexion shifted dramatically as darker thoughts crept in. The more he thought, the more his body started to shake.
Clinton was a cold and ruthless person.
Knock, knock, knock~
“Who is it?” The sudden knocking startled him; he raised his head sharply to ask.
“Terence Maxwell!”
Angel furrowed his brow upon hearing the na. Maxwell was the lead officer of the Special Service security team assigned to him by Richie Miller. He had been Miller’s comrade in the SEALs, and after retiring, founded a security company that reportedly operated in Africa and the Middle East.
“Co in.”
The door opened, and a burly man standing over six feet tall walked in wearing sunglasses. He scanned the room with sharp eyes before finally fixing his gaze on Angel.
“Is sothing the matter, Maxwell?”
The burly man grinned, taking off his sunglasses. “Hydra cordially invites you to join us!”
!!!
Hydra!!
Angel shot up from his chair, horrified, pointing at the man.
“You wouldn’t want your family to get hurt, would you, sir!”
…
The next day’s negotiations.
Albert noticed sothing was off with Angel’s deanor and couldn’t resist asking about it. Angel shook his head, claiming he was fine.
Casare glanced at them mockingly, his gaze loaded with aning.
Evidently… he knew sothing.
He pulled out the remaining clauses. The Arican negotiators argued passionately over so points, but the lead officials had long lost focus, and so the negotiations wrapped up quickly.
Two hours…
The remaining clauses were finalized.
Among them was an agreent for the United States to pay xico $260 billion in “holand compensation fees” as restitution for the land stolen during the US-xico War.
xico agreed to relinquish further claims to territorial ownership!
Combined with previous reparations, the total exceeded $300 billion!
Those funds…
For a U.S. economy nearing $7 trillion in GDP, it was but a drop in the bucket.
But for xico, it was a windfall of opportunities!
Moreover, xico gained the authority to manage Arican assets within its borders and raise tariffs. The Gulf of xico would now be co-owned by xico and Cuba, requiring U.S. vessels to submit applications and deposits for passage. Otherwise, any unauthorized ships would be treated as smugglers and destroyed!
These seemingly non-negotiable conditions…
The United States surprisingly agreed to.
The Gulf of xico is imnsely significant to Arica. It connects the Caribbean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, serving as Arica’s “mariti economic lifeline,” with nearly 30% of global shipping passing through it.
Southern U.S. energy, agricultural products, and industrial goods all depend on it to reach Europe, South Arica, and Asia.
The United Nations Observers were so enraged they almost flipped the table. They could hardly believe these terms were accepted!
Was xico Arica’s daddy now?
With the Gulf under xican jurisdiction, wouldn’t energy, agricultural, and industrial tariffs skyrocket?
For Europe, this would surely cause economic volatility and public dissatisfaction.
“Insane! Insane! How could Angel possibly agree to this?!” The Italians grumbled.
anwhile, the previously loud British delegate simply folded his arms and stared sternly…
The Yanks… seed rattled.
Secretary-General Boutros Gali sensed that the Aricans appeared completely out of their elent. Occasionally rebutting a point only to drop the conversation entirely.
The money was flowing effortlessly into xico’s coffers.
$300 billion…
In 1991, xico’s GDP was barely that much.
And considering the annual U.S. shipping traffic in the Gulf of xico, the toll fees alone would make Victor imnsely wealthy.
Similarly, leveraging this shipping route, Cuba and xico’s relationship would be permanently bonded by shared interests.
If xico were to supply Cuba with missiles, future U.S. military attempts to recover control by force would likely be in vain.
Absolutely brainless.
But the observers had no say in the outcos decided by the negotiating nations. All they could do was whisper among themselves.
On March 13th at noon, U.S. and xican representatives concluded discussions. Boutros Gali addressed the dia, announcing:
“After friendly consultations, the U.S. and xico have reached a consensus, agreeing to ceasefire today and withdraw forces by late April!”
“Secretary-General, may we know the details of the agreent? There’s speculation that the U.S. is ceding land to xico—any truth to that?”
“Utter nonsense!”
Boutros Gali: “Please reach out to the relevant Arican departnts for specific details. All I can say is that the discussions were exceptionally amicable with a great atmosphere.”
With that, he exited under the protection of his bodyguards.
The dia failed to secure firsthand details and grew frustrated, turning to other mbers of the observer group.
The Italians: “It was a very amicable negotiation. We sensed xico’s sincerity and are ready to explore rebuilding diplomatic ties.”
The British: “We are pleased with the consensus reached between the U.S. and xico. The friendship and peace between two major powers are the world’s main lody.”
???
That wasn’t your tune before. When the war broke out, you were calling for intervention, even urging NATO to get involved…
Now you’re suddenly heaping praise on xico?
Isn’t this a blatant slap in the face?
Many began to sense sothing peculiar in the air.
And on the sa day, March 13th, at 2 p.m…
In xico’s capital, the Human Progress and Innovation Convention Organization was inaugurated, with Cuba, Venezuela, Palestine, Niger, and Côte d’Ivoire as its founding council mber states, formally welcoming the Arican Black Panther Party as a non-state observer!
The signing was led by military Chief of Staff Admiral Horatio Herbert Kitchener, with Victor also in attendance. Representatives from these nations shook hands and proudly displayed their agreents for the news caras.
Click! Click! Click!
Reporters clicked their shutters frantically, capturing the historic mont.
At the subsequent press conference, Admiral Horatio Herbert Kitchener addressed the audience. “The Human Progress and Innovation Convention Organization was established in response to escalating human rights dilemmas, severe drug trafficking, and other criminal activities. We stand with the independence of African, Asian, and Latin Arican peoples and fully support every regi’s right to say NO to oppression!”
Political observers in attendance imdiately grasped the subtext of his speech. This organization was essentially a counterweight to NATO.
It included Latin Arican anti-U.S. vanguard Venezuela…
Palestine, embroiled in a life-and-death struggle with Israel…
And anti-colonial resistance in Africa…
Not to ntion the Black Panther Party, which had been re-erging in the United States under its current leader Eldridge Cleaver, who had integrated “advanced ideologies” and was active in guerrilla campaigns across the Northwest Pacific Mountains and Rocky Mountains.
These movents had beco a severe headache for the U.S. Governnt.
“xico will contribute $5 billion to the Human Progress and Innovation Convention Organization, aiding mber states in combating poverty and establishing the ‘World Peace Bank,’ permitting interest-free loans within the organization!”
“Moreover, xico and Cuba pledge to deploy troops to assist nations in eradicating drug-related issues!”
Admiral Horatio Herbert Kitchener continued reading from his script: “xico will provide $1.3 billion to Cuba, $800 million to Venezuela, and $500 million each to other mber states in military assistance!”
“We call on the world…”
“Join the Human Progress and Innovation Convention Organization. The Earth is vast enough for us to coexist peacefully; warfare and confrontation are not the only paths.”
As he delivered these words, he raised his head with resolute eyes and a firm expression. “We are willing to beco humanity’s final line of defense, safeguarding the smiles of countless families!”
