"The ergency search warrant has been approved and is on its way."
"I now command all personnel: move out imdiately according to plan. Surround the Kangda factory and seal off all entrances and exits!"
"Assault Team One and Two, prepare for a frontal breach."
"Periter team, secure the periter. Prevent any escapes."
"K-9 unit, stand by to enter and search!"
...
"Copy!"
"Understood!"
A series of low, firm responses echoed over the comms.
From the abandoned factory, engines roared to life. One by one, camouflaged vehicles sped out, shooting off like arrows toward the drug factory a few miles away.
The convoy first reached its designated position near the command vehicle.
Then, car doors opened silently. Fully ard narcotics officers and SWAT mbers disembarked, using the cover of night and the terrain to their advantage. Like water seeping into sand, they silently converged from multiple directions, completing their tight encirclent of the Kangda factory.
The air seed to solidify, leaving only the soft whisper of the night wind through the overgrown grass.
A few minutes later, a police car screeched to a halt beside Wang ngguo. An officer jumped out and handed him a paper docunt still slling fresh of ink.
It was the original, newly-issued Search Warrant.
Wang ngguo took the docunt, glanced at it under his flashlight, and then looked up. His gaze was as sharp as an eagle’s as he spoke a single word into his headset.
"Go!"
The command instantly reached the ears of every team mber.
The first team moved like ghosts, closing in on the guard booth by the factory’s main gate.
The guard on duty inside seed to be dozing. Caught completely unaware, he was subdued with lightning speed before he could even sound the alarm.
Almost simultaneously, another elite team had crept up to the main entrance of the lit factory building.
Though the guards at the entrance were vigilant, the assault team’s seamless coordination and precise strikes neutralized them with little effective resistance. The homade firearms in their hands were quickly disard.
"Breach the windows! Breach the door!"
At the low command, windowpanes on multiple sides shattered almost simultaneously, struck by specialized tools and breaching hamrs.
The heavy factory door was ramd open in a few strikes.
Like tigers descending a mountain, the fully ard assault team stord into the factory.
"Police! Don’t move!"
"Hands on your head! Get down!"
"Do not resist!"
"..."
Harsh shouts, the sudden shattering of glass, the CRASH of the ramd door, panicked screams, the CLANG of toppled equipnt...
An assortnt of sounds instantly shattered the night’s silence, echoing from within and without the factory.
This was followed by the sound of sporadic, muffled gunshots.
Drug traffickers making a last stand tried to return fire in their panic, but against the well-trained and heavily ard police assault team, their resistance was swiftly crushed.
Yang Qi had already stepped out of the command vehicle. He stood on the road, gazing toward the factory in the distance.
Fierce noises and occasional flashes of light tore through the night sky, reaching his ears.
’Even though I know the police are well-prepared, this is my first ti on an operation like this. Hearing all that... I can’t help but feel a little nervous and excited.’
"No need to worry, Advisor Yang."
A young officer from the K-9 unit next to him saw Yang Qi watching intently and comforted him with a smile. "Captain Xiao’s team is the best of the best. They’ve run tactical drills for this countless tis and have plenty of experience dealing with drug labs like this. The resistance inside won’t last long. They’ll have the situation under control in no ti."
"I have no doubt. I’m just a little keyed up, is all," Yang Qi said with a small smile.
"Haha, I get it, I get it."
A few nearby officers chuckled at his words.
After all, how often does a civilian get to experience sothing like this?
After watching for another mont, Yang Qi averted his gaze and walked over to Bai Wan, Hu Zi, and Leopard, who were all sitting quietly.
The three dogs had their ears pricked, listening to the commotion in the distance, but their deanor was calm and their eyes were focused.
Although Bai Wan wasn’t a professional police dog, he was following the lead of Hu Zi and Leopard and behaving impeccably.
Yang Qi crouched, patting each of their heads in turn. He used the Basic Spirit Communication Technique to give them a reminder.
’Soone will take you inside in a bit. You need to cooperate. And rember, safety first. Don’t take any unnecessary risks.’
"WOOF!"
Bai Wan gave a steady bark in response.
"WOOF!"
Hu Zi and Leopard followed with assenting nods.
Soon, the gunfire from within the factory ceased completely. All that remained were the shouts of police officers and orders to round up the suspects.
The chaos was quickly brought under control.
After another few minutes, a command ca through the K-9 team leader’s headset.
He imdiately waved his hand.
"K-9 unit, move in!"
Over a dozen specially trained drug-sniffing and search dogs—including the temporarily drafted Bai Wan, Hu Zi, and Leopard—were led by their handlers. Like arrows loosed from a bow, they charged quickly and orderly toward the factory gate, disappearing behind its walls.
The area around Yang Qi suddenly felt empty. Only the two technicians in the command vehicle remained at their posts, monitoring the signals.
Turning his gaze back to the factory, Yang Qi ntally estimated the progress of the sweep-and-clear operation inside.
Just as it seed the dust was settling, Yang Qi’s superhuman hearing suddenly caught an extrely faint and discordant sound!
The sound wasn’t coming from the factory ahead, but from behind and to his side—from deep within the fields on the other side of the road!
RUSTLE... RUSTLE...
It sounded like soone treading through the undergrowth, mixed with the sound of dirt being rapidly scraped away.
It was faint, hurried, and moving away from the factory!
Yang Qi whipped around, his eyes scanning the pitch-black fields.
The moonlight was faint, revealing only the blurry outlines of earthen ridges and the swaying shadows of crops.
But within those shadows, he caught sight of a humanoid silhouette—darker even than its surroundings—moving rapidly!
The figure was hunched over, its movents frantic, as it sprinted desperately into the wilderness, away from the road and the factory.
’Soone’s there!’
Alarm bells went off in Yang Qi’s mind.
’At this ti, in this place... to suddenly appear outside the police cordon and flee so furtively...’
’There’s no way that’s a passing villager!’
The only explanation was that this was a fish that had slipped through the net—an escapee from the factory.
They were likely a drug kingpin or core mber of the operation, who had slipped out via a hidden tunnel or pre-arranged escape route during the chaos just before the raid.
In a flash, Yang Qi channeled his Magical Power. His gaze locked onto the fleeing figure’s back as his right hand made a swift, concealed gesture.
’Entanglent Technique!’
A formless, intangible, yet incredibly tough thread of Spiritual Power shot across the nearly one-hundred-ter distance, wrapping precisely around the ankles of the runner’s striding legs.
THUD.
The sprinting figure felt their feet suddenly snagged by an invisible rope. They lost their balance instantly, pitching forward in an ungainly heap and crashing hard into the muddy soil beside the ridge. A muffled grunt and a suppressed cry of pain escaped their lips.
His strike successful, Yang Qi spun around and sprinted toward the command vehicle.
As he ran, he yelled at the top of his lungs, directing his voice toward the technicians in the van and any other officers who might be in earshot.
"Soone in the fields, to the rear! Probably one of the traffickers!"
