"It’s best to use an oversized, high-definition color screen for this."
Yang Qi added his suggestion, "The picture needs to be large and clear enough for Bart to see, and it needs sound to make it feel real."
"Place the screen where he has the best view in his enclosure. The liger in the video should ideally be one born from a tigress. That will make the visual association stronger and might stimulate him more directly."
"Of course."
Zhao Mingfeng nodded, already pulling out his phone. While scrolling through his contacts, he ordered an assistant who had just rushed over, "Quick, contact the tech and purchasing departnts. See if the Zoo has a large mobile display screen on hand. If not, rent or buy one imdiately!"
"Get the biggest one! The clearest one!"
"And another thing—use all our contacts to find footage of ligers, especially anything involving White Tigers. The more detailed, the better. Ideally, we want the entire process: mating, pregnancy, birth, and the cubs growing up!"
He was decisive and imdiately sprang into action.
Yang Qi wasn’t idle, either.
He, along with Lu Gangsheng and a few of the more open-minded Veterinarians, began discussing the specific details of the video playback.
They discussed playback duration, frequency, controlling the ambient light during playback, and whether to use scent inducent from a lioness.
In other words, introducing the scent of the lioness in the next enclosure through the ventilation system while the video was playing, and so on.
They strove to maximize the effectiveness of this "video therapy."
While the outco was still uncertain, it at least gave everyone—including the male lion Bart, who was trapped in a "misguided love"—a new and scientifically intriguing ray of hope.
「Soon.」
Under Zhao Mingfeng’s efficient command and with the support of Red Star Zoo’s considerable resources, a massive high-definition LED display was swiftly delivered to the lion enclosure’s outer area. Technicians began the tense process of installation and calibration.
The search for relevant video footage was also underway, with requests for help sent to multiple animal research institutions and zoos both at ho and abroad.
They worked until the sky was completely dark before all the preparations in the outer area of the lion enclosure were finally complete.
A colossal high-definition LED display stood securely mounted in a specially cleared space in the outer enclosure area. It faced the inner area where Bart usually rested and moved about, its angle and distance ticulously calculated to ensure Bart would have the best possible viewing experience.
Professional audio equipnt was also ready, prepared to play the natural ambient sounds and animal calls from the video.
After learning of the novel treatnt plan proposed by Yang Qi and its initial progress, the Zoo’s top leadership—including Director Guo Xiaoyun and Deputy Director Tong Xiaoyue—had also co to the scene in person.
Everyone, including the leaders, experts, Veterinarians, and technicians, either gathered in the observation area of the outer enclosure or waited in the adjacent monitoring room. They held their breath, maintaining the utmost silence as they closely watched the goings-on inside the enclosure, either through surveillance monitors or by direct observation.
The "treatnt video" prepared especially for Bart was carefully edited and finalized into two parts.
The first video: It showed the normal reproductive process of African lions.
From the courtship and mating of a male and female lion, to the lioness’s pregnancy and birth, and finally to scenes of healthy, lively cubs playing and growing under the care of their parents—primarily the mother.
The video ended on a heartwarming freeze-fra: a family of three (a male lion, a lioness, and a cub) living harmoniously on the savanna under the setting sun.
The purpose of this video was to first establish a visual template of "normal reproduction" and plant a potential psychological suggestion for Bart.
The video began to play.
The vast African Savanna and the familiar figures of his own kind appeared on the enormous screen.
Bart, in the inner enclosure, was clearly captivated. He lifted his head from the stone platform and stared intently at the screen, watching very seriously.
But aside from his focused gaze, he showed no particularly obvious emotional fluctuations—no excitent, no aversion. It was as if he were just watching a "nature docuntary" that had nothing to do with him.
Although felines do not perceive the sa rich spectrum of colors as humans, their world is not entirely black and white. Their ability to recognize moving objects and general shapes is very strong, so they have no trouble understanding the content of a dynamic video on a large screen.
The first video finished playing without incident.
The second video: This was the real "strong dicine."
The footage began with a shot of a male lion and a white Bengal Tigress in a simulated natural environnt.
This was followed by their unusual "interaction" and mating.
The scene then changed, showing the difficult process of the White Tiger’s pregnancy and birth. In the end, what was born was not a normal lion cub or tiger cub, but a liger cub with an abnormal body and mixed features.
The video deliberately included comparison shots between the liger cub and normal lion and tiger cubs, while also explaining the common health problems and survival challenges faced by ligers.
At the end of the video, a split screen deliberately froze on a side-by-side comparison: on one side, a normal, lively lion/tiger cub, and on the other, the clumsy, disproportionately-built liger cub, creating a stark and direct visual contrast.
When the second video began to play—especially when the white Bengal Tiger appeared, and then when the bizarre-looking liger cub was clearly displayed on the screen—
"Look! Bart’s reacting!"
A Veterinarian who had been watching Bart intently through a pair of high-powered binoculars exclaid in a low voice.
Inside the enclosure, Bart’s body had noticeably stiffened. His ears shot up, his eyes were wide and round, and he stared fixedly at the White Tiger and the subsequent liger on the screen.
