Chapter 652: Chapter 493: Cabin in the Woods
The misunderstanding was quickly clarified.
The mbers of the Wildfire Team acquired information about the monster from Nenetiyeer.
According to what Nenetiyeer said, a few days ago while participating in the encirclent and suppress, he had to step away montarily due to an upset stomach from lunch.
When he returned, he witnessed the monster slaughtering his companions.
The monster had a human-like shape with slender limbs and was at least two ters tall.
Its appearance was strange; it moved on all fours, but switched to using its hands when attacking, and its lengthy legs were disproportionately long, resembling a toad.
Because he was far away at the ti, Nenetiyeer didn’t get a clear look at the creature’s specific features.
He could only make out the vague silhouette of the monster in the evening sunset.
The reason he ntioned Sizar was because when the villagers organized another group to inspect later, they found one of the corpses clutching a piece of cloth.
And coincidentally, the pattern on this fragnt matched the one on Sizar’s clothes.
“It’s my fault, all my fault… I shouldn’t have run away, I should have stayed and might have saved so lives…”
After Nenetiyeer finished recounting the events, he broke down in grief.
His wife sat by his side, comforting him, trying to stop him from blaming himself.
Weiss shook his head slightly, feeling helpless about the outco.
The information Nenetiyeer provided was too scant, with the only new detail being the piece of cloth, which hardly differed from what Eva had told them.
“Nenetiyeer, do you have that piece of cloth here? Can I take a look at it?” Weiss asked.
Nenetiyeer looked up at him, then stood up and went inside the house. After a mont, he ca back out with a fragnt of fabric the size of a washbasin.
“This is what Renibo found in his hands, I will never forget this pattern, it’s definitely the one from Sizar’s clothing!”
Weiss took a look at it. He too had seen Sizar before and now recognized the pattern on the cloth snippet as belonging to Sizar.
“Just based on a piece of fabric, we can’t be sure that this has anything to do with Sizar, maybe he was also…”
Weiss never finished the words “a victim”; suddenly, as if sothing dawned on him, his eyes widened and he looked surprisingly at his companions.
Anna and the others shared the sa expression, though this clearly did not include the poker-faced Mikel.
“A humanoid monster, toad-like posture, cloth fragnt… This, doesn’t it sound exactly like a Mutant?”
The sa piece of intelligence they had just received two days ago flashed through their minds.
There had been an abnormal event in the New York City Hatbrim District, and the creatures that appeared, weren’t they just like the one described by Nenetiyeer?
“So, does that an the monster is actually Sizar!?” Weiss concluded.
The group exchanged looks, all feeling that this possibility was highly likely.
Otherwise, there was no explanation for why the deceased would be clutching a piece of Sizar’s clothing.
The incident that happened last ti in Arica was already shared by the Star Alliance with all mbers as soon as possible.
Zhang Xiaoman never withholds any information about these monsters from within.
Withholding such intelligence would not benefit the organization and would only increase the risk for mbers when encountering a monster.
Unlike a Mutant Beast or an Alien Species, Mutants are a new type of monster.
Through the Spirit Detection Technique, one could see a very, very slight Dark Energy Fluctuation on their bodies.
However, no points are generated after these creatures are killed.
The origin of Mutants has not yet been confird.
Currently, it’s only known that they are similar to Mutant Beasts, mutating from humans or other creatures on Water Blue Star.
“Mutants have Dark Energy Fluctuations, we can find it using Spirit Detection!” Weiss drew his teammates aside to discuss strategies.
“Mikel, how many scrolls do you have left?” Weiss inquired.
The expressionless man held up three fingers.
“Three, one for Spirit Detection, one for Strengthening, and one for Iron Armor.”
“Three, huh? That should be enough. If it really is one of those Mutants, we might not even need to use a scroll to take it down,” Ciro stroked his chin and said.
After all, according to intelligence, while such monsters seed frightening and were superior to humans in speed and strength, they were not particularly difficult to deal with.
Being professional Bounty Hunters and having modern weapons and equipnt, taking down a Mutant was well within their capabilities.
“The main issue now is how we locate it in this forest. The ho field advantage isn’t ours, so there’s still a certain risk,” Weiss remarked, frowning.
“I think we can’t afford to be careless on this mission. We shouldn’t skimp on the scrolls we need to use. If we can successfully complete this trial and beco Awakeners, will we need to worry about not having enough scrolls?”
Upon hearing this, the team nodded in agreent, feeling his point was valid.
As the saying goes, even a lion must use its full strength to hunt a rabbit, let alone when facing the terrifying Mutant monsters. As top Bounty Hunters, how could they afford to be negligent?
