Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character Chapter 243: The Search
Deep in the Abyss of the Demonic Spirits, above the dark, endless sea of black energy, Lin Langtian stood, his face tense as he observed the sea's surface. Despite its outward calm, he could feel an overwhelming sense of malevolent energy simring beneath the stillness. No one knew what horrors lay in those unfathomable depths.
After a brief pause, Lin Langtian took a deep breath and steeled himself. With a swift motion, he transford into a beam of light, plunging directly into the dark ocean of magic energy.
Sploosh!
A sound like a massive splash echoed across the vast sea as he dove into the abyss, disappearing into the shadows as though swallowed by a giant maw.
Imdiately upon entering the sea of magic, countless black serpents erged from the dark waters, swarming toward him with intense, sinister energy as if eager to consu him whole.
Seeing this, Lin Langtian's expression hardened, and the Vermillion Bird Fla of the Heavens erupted from his body, surrounding him with a fiery shield. anwhile, the furnace within his dantian roared to life, intensifying his fiery aura. In a few monts, Lin Langtian had ford his strongest defensive barrier.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In the endless black sea, thousands of dark serpents slithered toward Lin Langtian, drawn like predators sensing an irresistible al. Each serpent hissed as it neared, but as soon as they ca within reach, the flas surrounding Lin Langtian incinerated them, lighting up the darkness with a fierce glow.
Despite the flas' power, however, the black serpents seed infinite, endlessly erging from the sea, surging toward him in waves.
"Damn it! These serpents are relentless!" he muttered, his face tightening with concern.
Even though the Vermillion Bird Fla of the Heavens was incredibly powerful, capable of incinerating nearly anything, the sheer volu of the serpents threatened to overwhelm him. Lin Langtian knew that his current level of mastery couldn't sustain this level of attack for long—eventually, he'd be worn down and consud by the abyss.
Feeling frustrated, Lin Langtian couldn't help but wonder how his counterpart from the original tiline had succeeded in receiving the Demonic Spirit Elder's inheritance. After all, he was already much stronger now than he had been then. Was it possible that Mu Shi had so special thod?
Shaking off his doubts, Lin Langtian searched his surroundings, his eyes scanning the pitch-black depths. The dense demonic energy severely limited his senses, making it feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. He would have to locate the Demonic Spirit Elder's inheritance quickly, or he would eventually fall to the serpents' unending assault.
Just then, a faint glimr of black and gold light suddenly pulsed from the Golden Spirit Mirror within his dantian. As the light spread, it radiated a blinding brilliance, and to Lin Langtian's surprise, the countless black serpents surrounding him suddenly froze, then slithered away submissively, almost as if bowing.
Centered around Lin Langtian, the serpents withdrew in layers, forming a bizarre, open path amid the sea of demonic energy.
"What…" Lin Langtian's brows arched in astonishnt.
He realized then that the demonic energy inside the Golden Spirit Mirror must be of a much higher quality than the energy found here, given the respect shown by the black serpents. It seed the demonic power within the Golden Spirit Mirror was superior to the power of these lesser demonic spirits, compelling them to defer to it.
Steeling himself with this new understanding, Lin Langtian began to advance deeper into the ocean of magic energy. With the light from the Golden Spirit Mirror surrounding him, the serpents made no move to attack. Instead, they retreated as he passed, making way for him.
Bathed in the black-gold light, Lin Langtian closed his eyes and extended his spirit to search for any traces of the Demonic Spirit Elder's presence within the vast sea of demonic energy.
But even with this protection, the search was difficult. The expanse of the black sea seed infinite, and the dense demonic energy continued to disrupt his senses, making locating the Elder's inheritance feel impossible. After so thought, however, an idea struck him. If the black-gold light could command the serpents, perhaps he could use them to help him find the Demonic Spirit Elder's inheritance.
With that, he slowly closed his eyes, focused his spirit on the black-gold light, and expanded his energy outward. After a few monts, his spirit linked with the nearest serpents, granting him a rudintary control over them. Though he couldn't fully command them, he could at least direct their movent to help speed up the search.
More and more images began to appear in Lin Langtian's mind as he connected to the serpents' senses, letting him search the expanse far faster than he could alone. Still, his ntal focus remained unbroken as he continued his exploration.
Ti passed slowly in this intense search.
One day… two days… four days…
As the fourth day dawned, Lin Langtian sat like an immovable rock in the dark sea, his eyes tightly shut, his face tense as he held his concentration.
Then, finally, he sensed sothing strange within his spiritual search.
In a specific direction, he felt a faint disturbance in the energy, a place even the black serpents avoided, as if they sensed sothing sacred and terrifying there.
Bang!
In the next mont, a sharp, ghostly shriek pierced his mind, nearly causing him to lose his focus. His body shook as his spirit wavered, and his ntal connection with the black serpents shattered into pieces. But just before his consciousness receded, he caught a fleeting glimpse of a broken stone tablet shrouded in darkness.
On its weathered surface, six ancient, bold characters could barely be discerned:
"The Tomb of the Demonic Spirit Elder."
