He didn’t like listening to his nonsense. "Tell the truth: Is that the reason? I would really like to know." His brother said as he took another drink of wine.
"I don’t have ti to waste on your foolishness." Stuart’s patience was running thin. The man burst into laughter, "Bro, don’t misunderstand . You know, I have no interest in your business. I don’t care about any of that. More importantly, I don’t want to be your enemy. Therefore, I ca up with a way that can ensure that you can be the heir of the family."
Stuart was listening to him and didn’t say a word. He knew his brother too well. He never ca up with any good ideas unless there was an ulterior motive.
"The family has given you three months, and I will give you one month. If you can get her pregnant, then everything will be fine. If you can’t, then I will sacrifice myself to help you. She is a beautiful woman. I could do the job for you. Then you will have a baby. You will beco the rightful heir of our family. Does that not sound like a great idea?"
Stuart finally talked, "Don’t you dare touch her? I will kill you." He was threatening his brother’s life and showed no emotion in his voice.
The child, his brother, was disappointed with his response. The smile on his face turned into a frown. He didn’t doubt the authenticity of what Stuart said.
Over the years, in both the family and the business, they have competed against each other multiple tis. He knew exactly what his brother’s style was, and the more he knew, the more it scared him.
He could be ruthless and cruel to attain what he wanted. He didn’t care about hurting anyone. He always suited the action to the word.
His brother lost once, and he hated himself for being such a coward. Pissed off, he hit the screen of his phone, as if it was Stuart’s face. It helped him to ease the anger inside of him.
The man almost felt hurt, although he knows that he was provoked on purpose, "If I never try, how will I know the end result?"
The idea that he would do sothing to Edie made Stuart furious. His fists were clenched tight, and he was so angry that his veins stood out. The rage pulsed through his veins. .He was trying to keep his emotions hidden, and his expression on his face never changed.
After hearing what Stuart said, the man was still laughing, "Bro, you know I always keep my words. Rember, if you can’t accomplish this in one month, I, as your little brother, will give you a hand."
Then he hangs up the phone. The anger that was caused by Stuart’s seed to ease. He took a sip of red wine and he stared at the screen on his phone. Seeing Stuart’s compressing lips, he couldn’t help himself from laughing again.
Then the man ordered the pilot, "Let’s go now. I have said all I need to say for now." The helicopter turned around and left. It was a sumr night, and it wet and humid outside. The sound of the helicopter echoed through the sky.
"It seed quite interesting. At least, we t a woman my big bro fell in love with. Quite funny how things work out." With so red wine on his lips, he looked more evil and cruel than usual.
Edie had been waiting in the study for quite a while. The maid told her that her grandpa would be there soon. After all the years that she had spent there, she was still treated as a guest.
She didn’t belong to the Greg’s anymore. She had her own life now. There were no regrets, except that she had wished she could have seen her grandpa more as he was such a big part of her life.
Feeling bored, Edie stood up and looked at the gift on the table. It must have been from one of the guests. There was a variety of tonics in it, with a card on the outside.
Looking at it, the card fell to the floor. Edie picked it up and opened it. She saw two familiar nas on it, "From Donald Lynch and Joanna Bella."
Her hands started to shake, and the card almost slipped again. Have they been here? Edie rembered the video that Victoria used to threaten her. That year, they were so crazy in love.
They planned to get married after Edie finished the play. Then, Donald was engaged to Joanna. When she went back to question Donald, Donald couldn’t rember who she was.
She had to accept the fact and could find no way to persuade him. She asked for help from Greg’s. She kneeled down in front of Stanley Greg, begging him to help her. In the end, all she got was their humiliation.
They all felt that she was an embarrassnt to them. She was devastated as her boyfriend left without a word. She tried to get him back, where was the sha in that?
No one believed her. Everyone thought she was his mistress interfering in the middle of the lovely couple. Edie was frightened when Victoria threatened her with the video.
She didn’t even want to think about what Stuart’s reaction would be if he were to watch the video. He would be ashad of her, so what should she do? They agreed to marry for six months.
He promised that he would help her get the necklace back, and if he were to find out the truth, he would terminate the deal. If this were to happen, she would never get back the one thing that remained of her mothers.
But the truth would co out sooner or later. It wouldn’t be enough for Victoria just to threaten her. She would do so much more than that, and Edie knew it. Edie felt an overwhelming feeling of worry. She sighed sadly and took a sip of tea. Feeling the bitterness inside of her, she tried to calm herself down. She could hear soone walking towards the study.
She rubbed her face and managed a smile. She was struggling to control her emotions and looked at her face in the mirror. After making sure that no one would notice, she walked out the door.
"Grandpa, it’s so good to see you. I have missed you so much." She said as a tear slipped down her cheek.
Opening the door, she saw the fragile old man sitting in his wheelchair. She looked down at him, and suddenly his smile disappeared.
