Edie looked around his room with a puzzled look on her face. ’Is this his bedroom?’ she wondered. Aaron gently put Edie on the sofa and went over and got a dical kit from the bathroom. As he was walking back, he saw the expression on her face. He raised his eyebrows and said, "Go ahead and say it."

"Is this your bedroom?" Edie said, sounding confused.

"Yes, of course!" he said. Aaron understood why she was asking such a question and snickered. "You’re curious why there isn’t a bed in here. Aren’t you?" He slowly sat down beside her. "I will tell you, but only if you sleep with tonight."

Edie shrugged in reply as she clenched her jaw and just kept staring forward. Aaron wasn’t upset; he remained calm and reached forward to apply ointnt to her wound. Edie quickly moved away and tried to grab it from his hand. "I can do it," she said.

Suddenly Aaron took his finger and pressed it hard on the wound. Edie gasped, eyes locked on his face. As stinging pain shot from her leg to her brain, she took a deep breath and froze. "I would advise you not to struggle, or you may experience more pain," he said. There was no emotion as he cocked his head slightly to look at her, just a hint of curiosity, maybe in his steel, cold eyes.

Edie stared at him, studying his face. He wasn’t tense at all. Aaron looked very peaceful. She watched his every movent as he applied the ointnt to her leg. He made very gentle upward movents of his hands. She held her fists closed and squeezed into the pain. Her breath was frozen in her chest, and she fought the urge to cry.

Aaron could see the amount of pain she was in. His voice softened, but his face revealed no emotion. "Let know if it hurts," he said. For so reason, he felt a tinge of regret and even a little bit guilty. Edie rolled her eyes in disgust and never said a word.

The atmosphere in the room beca more relaxed. She swallowed hard, took a deep breath, and slowly lifted her gaze to et his. "There’s sothing I would like you to explain to . You’re using to get back at Stuart, but at the beach...." she hesitates. "You could have kidnapped then, but you didn’t. You let go, and now you’re keeping here. I don’t understand what you’re trying to do. You’re always saying how much you hate Stuart and want him dead, but honestly, I don’t believe you....."

At these words, he smilingly interrupted her. "You don’t believe ?" He smiled, lips stretching to reveal his teeth. "It’s my fault for misleading you. Next ti, I will try much harder."

Edie’s breathing sped, and her heart raced so loud she was sure it must be ready to burst out of her chest. She glanced around and lowered her voice. "Please.....Make understand. Stuart’s your brother, and I’m your sister-in-law. Why do you hate us so much?" she begged. She had so many questions that she wanted answers to.

Aaron raised his eyes skeptically. "You want to know why? I’ll tell you a story, and maybe then you will understand." He closed his eyes as if shutting out the bad mories or struggling to keep a grip on his emotions. Then he took several deep breaths and began. There was a family, and two won were pregnant by the sa man, Mada Rose and Mada Bette’s. The firstborn was to be the heir. The most important child. As an heir, he would receive a double portion of the inheritance."

He stopped talking and looked at Edie. She was watching him intently and truly listening to his every word. "Please, continue," she asked.

Aaron’s deep voice remained low when he spoke. Mada Rose was only eight months pregnant, and Mada Bette’s was due any day. Mada Rose chose to have a cesarean. On that day, Mada Bette gave birth, which made Mada Rose’s son one day younger. From that day on, the fate of the second child changed forever." It was the greatest pain imaginable, but he kept it hidden.

"Because he was premature, he was often ill, and his mother never ever cared about him. She forced him to learn everything there was about becoming an heir. He learned about politics, economics, horseback riding, fencing, and combat. It was never-ending. Pain scread from every fiber of his body, and it was like he was being pulled apart, literally. He wasn’t strong enough. His mother thought he was only lazy. It was then the cruelest punishnt that she inflicted on her son.

"This child’s life had no purpose of his own. His only goal was to destroy his brother. When he turned eighteen, he was to compete against his brother. Every ti he lost. Therefore, he lost the right to compete against his brother ever again."

His mother was exasperated and destroyed every single thing he enjoyed or loved. She made a new plan. If the heir died, her child would be the rightful heir. He did everything he could, using whatever ans possible. If he couldn’t hurt his brother, he would hurt people in his brother’s life. The people his brother cared about most."

"He tried and tried, but failed. Thinking he would die by his brother’s hand, but again failed. So, it’s ti to put it to an end, and the dear brother is dead by his hands." His voice suddenly turned cold and hard as stone. His black eyes are staring wide open, with an awful, glazed and sightless glaze.

When Aaron was finished telling his story, he looked at Edie and knew right away. The two sons were Stuart and himself. He was expecting to see sympathy in her eyes, but no. Complex emotions flickered across her face. ’What is she thinking,’ he couldn’t help wondering.

Edie looked deeply into his eyes, and she said, "You did it on purpose. All the trials, your mother put you through. You failed intentionally."

"You know too well!" Aaron grins slowly, and he gradually reveals his teeth. Was it suffering that made his lips curve upwards and revealed his white teeth?

"Maybe, I’m starting to understand why?" Edie felt a little breathless. Sothing terrible could happen all over again. The next instant, she was doubled over in silent agony, trying to breathe, on the edge of sothing horrifying. "It’s so incredibly sad, but it happened a long ti ago."
