Stuart looked inquiringly at her and raised his eyebrows. He’d never heard her voice so hard and piercing before. His dark, strong face softened, and for a long mont, they stared into each other’s eyes in silence as the atmosphere beca less intense in the room.
Cecil heard Edie shout. He raised his head quickly, "No one had ever raised their voices to Stuart before," he whispered. "It worked?" He took a step backward with a little look of surprise on his face.
Andy’s watching them argue. Her eyes twinkle, and a grin appears on her face. ’How entertaining,’ she thought to herself. She stood up and leaned against the wall. "Well, what do you have here? I think I may have underestimated your skills in getting your n to beg at your feet. You have him wrapped around your little finger. You must tell how you can easily control your n. I would like to try it, but it’s probably taken you many years of experience," Andy said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone.
Edie raised her eyebrows and smiled. "Do you really want to know?" she asked. She looked at her curiously.
Andy nodded her head at Edie. Then looked Stuart in the eye. "You’re with a shaless woman. It’s obvious you’re in love with her." She smiled. A devious grin appearing on her face, almost as if she had suddenly beco possessed by so evil being. "Don’t let her mislead you." She leveled her gaze once more at Stuart. A faint sparkle of challenge in her dark eyes. "Don’t bla because you misjudged her. I’m an innocent bystander." Her eyes moved to everyone in the room and then back to Stuart. "Let introduce you to so of my friends. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed." She laughed and shook her head.
Stuart’s face was grim, his fists clenched at his sides. White blue veins bulged up the length of his arms. He was getting angrier with each word she spoke. He glared at her with intense irritation. His face revealed no emotion. Andy took one look in his eyes and began to tremble in fear. Stuart couldn’t take it anymore and started walking towards her. "You’re a very brave, but stupid woman," he said as his voice rose when he spoke.
"You need to shut your mouth now!" Stuart demanded.
"No," Edie shouted. "She’s not worth it!" She was holding Stuart’s arm, but then he gently pulled away and walked towards Andy.
Edie walked past Stuart and stood in front of Andy. She quickly raised her hand and slapped Andy hard across the face. Edie smacked Andy in the face so forcibly that she fell to the floor. Andy was startled at first, and then she smiled confidently at Edie. "Did I say sothing wrong? You know it’s the truth!"
Edie never said a word. She kneeled beside Andy and took her wedding ring off. "What are you doing?" Andy shouted frantically. She tried to push Edie away, but she barely had any strength left to fight back. She dug in Edie’s back with her fingernails.
Edie didn’t flinch. She felt no pain, only anger rising inside her. She got the ring and held in her hands, smiling at Andy. "Give it to . Please don’t." Andy’s voice hysterically rose as she pleaded for understanding. She gasps, sitting there with her eyes wide and her mouth opened. She’s clearly in a state of shock.
Edie opened the palm of her hand and looked at the ring carefully. "I had no idea there was such a huge diamond in it. Is this not a token of love from her husband?" she asked while glaring at her. "You’ve been with him for seven years, you said. You must cherish this very much," she said as she held the ring between her fingers. Edie slowly turned around, walked to the window, and threw it outside.
Andy quickly rose to his feet, pushing everyone out of her way and looking out the window. All she could see were people and cars. "What have you done?" she scread.
Andy turned and started for the door, but Edie grabbed her arm and spun her around. "There’s a lot of people coming and going. Chances are your ring is gone," Edie sneered.
"Let go!" Andy said as she struggled to break free. Then with Edie’s other hand, she grabbed her by the shirt. "You’re a bitch! What the hell do you want from ?"
"Did your parents not teach you any manners?" Edie growled, her breath coming in angry.
"Did your mother teach you to be a mistress?" Andy replied.
Edie could feel her heart racing the second Andy said the word mistress. She hated it. She raised her hand to slap her again, but Stuart’s voice ca from behind them, "I’ve recorded the whole thing. My lawyer will be in touch with you. Did you really think I would let you off so easily after all you’ve done?" He took two steps toward Andy and glared into her eyes. "You not only hurt my wife but tried to hurt my cousin. You will have to suffer the consequences of your immature, irresponsible actions," he warned her. Then he reached into his suit pocket and took out the voice recorder. He placed it on the table and replayed so of her vicious words.
"Are you really her husband?" she asked as she slowly fell to her knees. "It’s impossible. I watched her every day co to school with a different man."
Right at that mont, Stuart clapped his hands, and Ivan, Jon, and Karl entered the room. "Sorry to disappoint you, but we’re only the drivers," Ivan said.
"It can’t......" Andy turned to look at Edie, her eyes wide. Edie was heading toward her before she could finish. Andy felt her mouth fall open. She shook her head and braced herself for the worse. "Stop! How can this be? It’s possible!" she said in almost a whisper.
Stuart pulled Edie back and whispered in her ear. "I know you wanted to deal with this yourself, but I just couldn’t stand back and watch her be so cruel to you. I tried not to interfere. Please don’t be upset with ."
Edie looked at him helplessly. "No, I’m not upset with you. I’m glad you were here. You did everything right." In the beginning, she thought Stuart was going to do sothing illegal to make Andy suffer, but this ti he abided by the law. "I never had thought of using her." Edie knew the only reason Stuart was playing by the rules was because of her.
Edie kneeled down beside Andy and said in a low voice. "You crossed the line. How many others have you hurt and gotten away with? This ti you will be punished for your mistakes."
