"So you believe , right" Edie was surprised. She couldn’t believe it for a mont. She doesn’t expect that this man will be going to save from the humiliation.
"Though I want to divorce you, I won’t hurt you. I don’t know what kind of girl you are. But...I believe you are a good girl. Otherwise, I won’t fall in love with you before. If you’re bad based on other’s judgnt, would I be going to marry you?"
He stared at Edie with his purely black eyes. He wanted to tell her how deeply he loved her until now, but he chose this way to protect her.
He wanted to tell her. But he couldn’t tell her everything. Not until he will know the identity of the person behind Hicks.
Edie stared at him back. She wanted to tell him that he loves him so much and she misses the old Stuart. Her heart started beating faster and faster.
It took quite a while for her to make a smile. Her smile was light but beautiful.
"Thank you. Though you already forgot , your trust...still ans a lot for . No matter if we would divorce or not, I would accept it, as long as you believe you really fell in love with before. I can handle everything else. I will try my best to be your wife still," A pang of pain ca across her heart, and she wanted to burst into tears.
Stuart trembled in eyes. "Do you really love so deeply? Even though, you knew that I have forgotten about us,"
Hearing Stuart’s question Edie wanted to cry out. But she forced herself to smile, "Yes. Because you loved more before. Perhaps God thought it was not fair for you. So he might want to pay back. We started at our marriage through the contract, and I didn’t love you before. You exerted so much effort to make fall for you,"
Stuart fell into silence for a while, and then he said, "Edie, I really want to restore my mory about you. But I won’t hurt Hicks anymore. So, no matter what happened between us, we should...."
"Stop it now."
Edie felt her heart was broken.
She suddenly realized that she almost forgot sothing significant. Hicks did a lot for Stuart before. Hicks was the woman that Stuart had love before she ca.
Because of Stuart, Hicks was kidnapped, tortured, and thrown into the ocean by Aaron.
Stuart owed her. When he lost his mory, he only rembers Hicks, not her.
But she did give him an opportunity. She went back to A city, but Stuart stopped her.
He did choose her. Why could...why could he forget this.
Edie’s eyes turned red, "Stuart, I know you don’t want to hurt Hicks. But why could you hurt ? Do I deserve it? I was so humiliated publicly awhile ago, does my existence in your life pissed you off? It’s okay that you forget . But don’t sentence to death too early. I don’t like it."
She said these in a low and weak voice. It sounded like begging. Stuart’s heart was tendered.
But he couldn’t put Edie in danger.
He must push Edie away. Otherwise, that man might kill her sooner or later. He must get her rid of such extre danger.
He didn’t rush to divorce Edie because he wanted to show Hicks and the man behind her that Edie was no longer significant for him. So Edie couldn’t be used to threaten him.
Only in this way could Edie’s safety be guaranteed.
Looking at Edie’s tears falling down, he felt his heart was burning.
But, he needed to pretend to be indifferent.
It hurt both of them.
Edie raised her hands. She wanted to catch the corner of his clothes. She thought Stuart might be able to give them a chance if she begged him.
But, he didn’t.
He stood up directly.
He was quite tall. His finger blocked the light. At the mont, she felt she was surrounded by darkness. She felt so cold.
"Stuart..."
She called Stuart’s na, over and over again, trying to unite her courage.
"Edie Lara, since all these happened, please stop now. Don’t try to interfere with our relations. I don’t want to hate you."
Then, Stuart turned around, without throwing an eye at her, as if he was abandoning a dead pet.
The man.... really left.
Edie struggled to hold fist.
She tried the best to hold all her tears back. But it was really painful.
Stuart, at the mont, was also tortured by such burning pain.
anwhile, at the door of the party room, a girl in a gorgeous dress rushed in. But she was blocked by the guards.
"Please show your invitation card."
"What? I am Mr. CEO’s friend."
Hicks said impatiently.
"Sorry, Miss. You are not allowed in without an invitation card," the guard said seriously.
Hicks squinted.
"Do you have any idea who I am? You dare to block
"You’ll regret it."
The guard hesitated. Stuart was really a figure here. He didn’t want to make him angry.
"Miss, could you call Mr. CEO? If he agrees, we certainly won’t stop you."
Hicks hesitated.
Actually, she’s already been inford of the party. She planned to attend the party with Stuart. But Todd Anderson seed to hate her. He invited Edie and Stuart and wrote their na on one invitation card.
If she insisted coming with Stuart, reporters would take their pictures. It might hurt Stuart’s reputation.
She tried to control her jealousy, pretending to be generous.
She agreed Stuart attended the party with Edie.
However, as minutes went by, she couldn’t control herself.
Though she believed Stuart, she never trusted Edie. Edie might do sothing to the man she loved.
The longer she stayed outside, the more anxious she got. As she rushed into the party, the guard stopped her.
If she called Stuart at the mont, Stuart might be disappointed. She was no longer that generous girl in his mind.
As Hicks was trapped in a dilemma, suddenly, she heard a terrifying voice.
"You looked quite like a girl I knew before."
