Edie stared at the agreent blankly.
Party B...Stuart
These words burned her eyes. She wanted to burst into tears, but she held back her tears and won’t give Hicks the satisfaction to feel happy seeing her suffer.
Finally, she closed her eyes painfully and put the pen down, "Sorry, I won’t sign the agreent. I made up my mind. I refuse to divorce Stuart," She firmly said without batting an eyelid.
"What the hell? Edie. What the hell do you want? We’ve spent lots of ti preparing the agreent. Accept it. Stuart already forgot you. Stop tangling with Stuart. He clearly doesn’t want you to stay in his life, move on and give his freedom,"
Hicks stood up, madly and scread. She wanted to slap Edie right now; however, she can’t do it in front of Stuart’s lawyer.
Edie raised the head and stared at her, indifferently, "I couldn’t give you my husband. I would fight for him. I will lose everything if you marry him. What...what could I do after that?"
She wanted to ntion her baby. But she couldn’t tell Hicks the existence of the baby. She knew that Hicks is a vicious woman, and if she tells her that she’s pregnant, this evil woman will harm her and the baby.
Hicks squinted, "Edie, even if you refuse to sign the paper, you won’t see Stuart again."
"Edie’s Stuart’s wife. Why couldn’t she see her husband? Since when did she need your permission? Who do you think you are? What is your right to prevent my daughter- in- law to see her husband?"
Suddenly, Edie heard a familiar voice.
Edie turned around and Stuart’s Mom. This ti around, Edie feels a little joy to find soone who can stand beside her.
It was Bette Yates.
Behind her was a guard taking her luggage. She just arrived.
Bette took off the sunglasses and stared at Hicks sharply with her beautiful eyes.
Hicks frowned. She didn’t know why this woman suddenly ca.
At the mont she saw Bette, she knew she might fail today.
She knew how difficult it was to get well along with Bette. She wished Bette could disappear before Edie signed the paper.
Hicks forced a bright smile, "Good afternoon, auntie."
"Please call Mrs. Yates or Madam Bette. You don’t have the right to call Auntie," Bette threw an eye on her.
Hicks felt too embarrassed to answer. She quickly went silent and didn’t dare to argue with Stuart’s Mom.
At the mont, Edie stood up and hesitated for a while. She didn’t know how to call Bette.
"Vice..."
Bette smiled at her, "what did you call last ti?"
"Mom," Edie said, respectively.
Hicks was so angry. Even Stuart couldn’t call Bette as "mom." She couldn’t understand why Edie could call her "mom." Bette really accepts Edie as her daughter in law. Hicks could feel the excellent relationship between Edie and her.
While she couldn’t even call her "auntie." She hated Edie more. She can’t accept that she’s once again humiliated by Stuart’s family.
Bette took the paper on the desk and tore the paper apart.
"Mrs. Yates, why are..."
Hicks wanted to stop her, but she had no gut.
"She’s my daughter in law. What are you doing here? You are nothing here. Why does it seems you acted like a legal wife of my son? Who gives you an authority to act as a legal wife?" Bette said coldly, and her voice was filled with anger.
Hicks’s face changed. She bites her teeth to control her anger, "Mrs. Yates, this is your son’s idea. Stuart won’t love Edie anymore. This is the best choice for both of them. Stuart wanted to divorce,"
" Who said so? Stuart? I don’t care about my son. All I care about is my daughter in law. Edie, let’s go ho now."
Then, she held Edie’s hands. But Edie stood there still.
"Edie?" What are you doing? I said, let us head back ho?"
Edie hesitated for a while, "I don’t have keys. No one would open the door for ."
"Stuart dare do this to you?"
Bette could feel her pain. She knew that Edie had suffered so much these past few days, and she can’t let it pass.
What the hell was Stuart doing? Edie was so wronged here, and he didn’t even throw an eye on her.
Bette squinted and said in a low but angry voice, "We’ll see, if he dares to block my outsides."
Then, Bette took Edie away.
Hicks wanted to stop them, but she couldn’t stop Bette. So she had to chase after then.,
When they arrived at the villa, instead of ringing the doorbell, she asked her assistant directly, "Has the construction team arrived?"
"Yes, madam."
"pull down the door." Bette’s voice was firm.
"Mom...."
Edie was shocked by the scene. Bette was so....tough.
"I want to see how he would handle this. Don’t worry. I am here. I would handle everything for you before leaving."
Bette rubbed her hands and comforted her.
Edie didn’t know how to persuade her to stop.
The construction team started pulling down the door, alerting the electronic anti-theft system.
Mr. Sampson was shocked. He ran out imdiately. Seeing Bette, he held all his bad words back.
"Madam..." Bette bowed to Bette, "Madam, you don’t have to do this. I would open the door for you."
Bette gave a cold grunt, "Mr. Sampson, are you too old to rember the hostess here?"
"..."
Mr. Sampson didn’t know how to answer. He couldn’t afford to make Bette or Stuart angry. It was really hard for him.
After opening the door, he called Stuart imdiately.
Though the door was opened, Bette didn’t stop the construction team. The first door was pulled down.
She asked Edie to open the next door. But Edie couldn’t open it.
Bette then asked the construction team to pull down the next door. Moreover, Bette had all locks changed.
"I would answer blow with blow. We’ll see. I am looking forward to her reaction."
Bette certainly ant Hicks Day.
