But Stuart didn’t say a word.
Edie thought Stuart might beg her to open the door or ask Mrs. Yang for help. But she didn’t hear any sound after quite a while.
Where the hell has he been?
Edie got confused.
She opened the door. Stuart disappeared.
Did he go to the dining room?
Or the kitchen?
Or the bathroom?
She’s been looking for him in every room. But she could not find him. When she returned back to her room, she saw Stuart was lying on the bed.
"Where have you been just now?"
"Take a shower. I need to take a shower before going to bed."
"Why couldn’t I find you in the bathroom just now?"
"I saw you when you went to the kitchen. What? Are you hungry now? I can cook so food for you." Stuart said seriously.
Hearing these words, Edie didn’t know how to answer. Finally, she said, "I want to take a shower, all right?"
It took her a long ti to take this shower. She really didn’t know how to face Stuart lying in her bedroom at the mont.
Would they sleep together tonight?
Don’t be kidding. They haven’t solved their problem. She could not sleep with him at this point.
Finally, when she returned to her bedroom, she saw Stuart paved the floor and lay on the carpet.
"I know you don’t want to sleep with . It is late now. Go to sleep."
Edie has prepared a long speech just now. But now she could not speak a word out. Stuart knew it. Suddenly, she felt a little embarrassed.
She pressed her lips. Her face turned red after taking a shower. She didn’t know why. Perhaps she felt a little shy now. Perhaps it was so hot inside the room.
She walked to her bed carefully and said in a low voice, "Good night."
Then, she turned off the light.
All of a sudden, they were wrapped by the darkness. The moonlight poured on the floor, like a layer of silver frost. Under the moonlight, Edie could clearly see the man’s face.
When they got married, Stuart always slept on his back. But after they slept together, she loved his holding her in his arms. She felt so warm in his arms. And she loved the sll on his body, like the snow water.
She cuddled into a heap like a little cat in his arms. He also got used to holding her in his arms. Now, he often placed his head on the one hand and placed his jaw on her long hairs.
At the mont, he turned towards her. Edie could see a part of his face.
At the mont, he already closed his eyes.
His eyelashes were trembling slightly, casting a shadow.
He lay on the spot close to the bed. Edie could easily touch his shadow under the moonlight.
He breathed evenly. Edie thought he might already fall into sleep now.
She stretched her hands. She didn’t know why she suddenly wanted to touch him.
She didn’t dare touch him. So she decided to touch his shadow.
Sotis, it was difficult to explain what a woman was thinking about. When she got confused about her own feeling, she would choose to escape, like an ostrich.
Now Edie was like this. She was not willing to face the problem. But she didn’t want to leave Stuart. The life she’s spent with him in Lionel was the life she’s dread of for a long ti. It was the ideal life in her mind.
Therefore, though she still looked angry, she has already been deeply touched by this man. But she still wanted to pretend to be mad at him because she didn’t want to leave here.
She didn’t know what she was angry with. She just complained to the man in front of her.
She was still complaining about him now. But she was not able to leave him.
Because...
If she really pushed this man away, she was afraid that she might not be able to et with a man who loved her as he loved her.
She might not be able to find a man like him.
While thinking about this, Edie gradually stretched to his shadow. She raised a naughty smile on her face.
Then she moved her fingers down slowly, from his nose, from his lips to his throat.
She had a feeling. She felt she was playing Stuart, but he didn’t know about that.
But before she was satisfied, the man grabbed her small hands suddenly.
She freaked out imdiately. She wanted to take her hands back. But the man grabbed her hands more tightly.
Though Stuart closed his eyes at the mont, he still grabs her hands so tightly.
"Touch if you want, I never forbid you to touch " then, he placed Edie’s small hands into his arms.
Imdiately Edie flushed. Luckily, Stuart could not see anything in the darkness. When she wanted to take her hands back, she suddenly touched a wound on his body.
It was newly recovered.
The gun shooting caused it. It was on his left chest, on the shoulder.
Edie stopped moving imdiately. Her palm was gradually cold down.
She moved her hands to other parts of his body. Then she found more wounds on his right shoulder and chest. So were new wounds, and so were old. They were mixed together.
Stuart’s body was covered with those wounds.
Edie imdiately jumped up and turned on the light. She didn’t even wear slippers. She just threw his quilt away and took off his clothes.
"Don’t do this. Or I would believe you want to have sex with ," Stuart stopped her and made a slight smile, "Don’t look at them. I’ve recovered."
Hearing these words, Edie’s eyes got wet imdiately. Her eyes looked like rabbits’ eyes at the mont.
She fixed her eyes on him and asked, "What do you an? Are there any more wounds on your body."
"Yes. On my thigh."
Stuart seldom got injured in his childhood days. He only got one wound on his chest. It has been quite a long ti. Now the wound was recovered. Only a light scar remained on his chest. Besides, Stuart sounded so easy when he described those wounds to Edie; therefore, Edie didn’t realize how dangerous it was.
But now, when she really touched those scars, she felt heartbroken. Those wounds kept torturing her heart.
"My back...not too much."
When he ntioned his back, he hesitated for a while. Edie imdiately realized sothing bad. She pushed his arms away and took a look at his back.
She saw a wound covering a large part on his back.
In that explosion, under the chandeliers, it was Stuart that protected everyone with his back.
That wound was still red, caused by the burning fire.
Seeing this, Edie’s tears poured out from her eyes.
He imdiately covered her eyes with his big hands.
"I am not in pain now. I even win your tears. It is my fault."
These words fluttered in Edie’s ears, like the warm wind in spring. Edie closed her eyes painfully. Tears oozed out of her eyes.
She wanted to cry out. But she felt so much pain in her throat as if hundreds of thousands of sharp needles were inserted into her throat at the mont.
She grabbed the quilt tightly and kneeled down on the floor. Tears kept pouring out from her eyes.
Seeing her tears, Stuart imdiately held her into his arms, "No matter what I’ve been through, I am staying with you now. That is enough, isn’t it? Stop crying, you silly girl."
"How long did you recover?" she sobbed and asked Stuart.
"I woke up after a month. Even the doctor was impressed by my will to survive. It is that saved my life. Actually, it is because I saw you in my dream. It is you that saved my life."
"No. It is not . I did nothing. I am useless..."
Edie shook her head imdiately. At the mont, she was imrsed by deep sorrow.,
She was such a useless person.
She could do nothing for him.
She could do nothing for the man she deeply loved.
She didn’t deserve Stuart. She was not suitable for him.
Hearing these words, Stuart said, emphasizing each word, "Without you, I might already die."
His voice sounded so powerful and convincing.
Then he held her into his arms so tightly, as if he was afraid that she would escape away.
She cried out so hard that she started feeling difficult to take a breath.
She cried for a long ti. Since things have happened, she was not able to change anything.
Now she only complained about herself. She hated her uselessness. She hated her for her not being able to protect the man she loved the most.
