Chapter 126: Song Chuhe’s Shock

Song Chuhe no longer needed to think it over.

There were only two kinds of work in the Abyss-Suppressing Army: combat and strategy.

Li Mu had said they were not lacking combat strength. That ant the latter.

It was exactly what Song Chuhe wanted.

If he had been given the chance, who would not have wanted to join the Abyss-Suppressing Army and establish a world-shaking legacy?

At that mont, Song Chuhe wanted to cry.

When the school he had once helped, along with the classmates he had once stood beside, turned around and stabbed him in the back under a storm of accusations, when his parents had lost their jobs because of him and were about to face imprisonnt, the one who had stepped forward to help him

was actually Li Mu, Golden Scale High School’s greatest enemy!

The very person Song Chuhe had thought least likely to help him...“Now that’s what a real man looks like!”

Lu Chenfeng laughed loudly and smacked Song Chuhe hard across the back with his huge palm.

“Cough! Cough, cough...”

Song Chuhe nearly coughed his lungs out.

“Damn, you’re really flimsy!”

Lu Chenfeng said irritably.

Song Chuhe gave him a speechless look.

He was at least still a Third Grade Martial Artist. No matter how weak he was, he should not have looked this miserable.

The main problem was that Lu Chenfeng had moved too suddenly. That practically counted as a sneak attack.

After coughing a few tis, though, Song Chuhe said to Li Mu with so embarrassnt, “Um... there’s sothing I want to ask of you.”

“What is it?”

“That girl just now, Xue Jiao, one of the ones who got taken away.”

“She... she was forced to co by Guan Dong too. Could you let her go?”

“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Li Mu said, sowhat annoyed.

Song Chuhe looked awkward.

How could he have dared say it earlier?

He had not even understood why these n had co yet.

Who would have dared casually make requests?

Lu Chenfeng imdiately made a phone call to arrange it.

Once he finished the call, Song Chuhe began regretting it a little.

What he was actually more worried about was the situation with his father.

But after his own self-conscious reading of the room, he felt that if he imdiately asked Li Mu and the others about his father now, it might co off as ungrateful.

So he pressed his lips together and did not dare speak.

Zhang Zhiwei, however, spoke up on his own.

“Don’t worry about your parents.”

It was only a simple sentence, but it made Song Chuhe let out a long breath in relief.

If these three really intended to involve themselves in his affairs, then nothing could go wrong.

Military, police, and business—these n all had influence in one field or another.

At the very least, a second-generation rich boy on Guan Dong’s level was nowhere near capable of standing against them.

“Co on. We’re taking you to enlist!”

Li Mu, anwhile, moved with his usual decisiveness.

He was going to take Song Chuhe to complete the formalities first, while also beginning recruitnt ahead of schedule.

On the way to the Abyss, Song Chuhe finally learned that the Xing brothers, Xing Yang and Xing Guang, were the ones who had truly noticed him first.

Xing Yang and Xing Guang were twins, but they had not gone to the sa school.

One had taken the path below, and the other the path above. Xing Yang had joined the reserve force, while Xing Guang had gone on to Golden Scale High School.

Xing Yang had even participated in that city-defense battle and had been personally appointed by Li Mu as a temporary squad leader.

As for Xing Guang, he had attended that student council eting at Golden Scale High School.

Afterward, he told Xing Yang about Song Chuhe’s situation.

Only then did Xing Yang dare report the matter to Li Mu.

Otherwise, how could Li Mu possibly have known who Song Chuhe even was?

But Song Chuhe still had not expected that agreeing to enter the Abyss-Suppressing Army under Li Mu would rely be the beginning of his shock.

After taking the Abyss Elevator down into the Abyss, the mont he stepped out, the first thing he saw was a huge, bustling circular plaza, where all sorts of Abyss lift equipnt and airships were taking off and landing.

At the edge of the plaza were all kinds of large shopping areas, stores supplying clothing, food, housing, and other necessities.

There were two enormous exits to the north and south.

One led to Pearl Military District, and the other to Red Moon Military District.

Among the people passing through the area, quite a few were soldiers from Pearl Military District.

No matter the occasion or location, as long as they saw Li Mu, they would almost always imdiately stand at attention and salute him.

Once they entered Pearl Military District proper, there was a vast open space.

To the left front lay countless teleportation gates leading to every already explored area.

To the right front was the path to Base One, with the other nine bases extending outward in a great semicircle beyond it.

Naturally, the greatest flow of soldiers ca and went through the Teleportation Gate Area.

It was only in this area that Song Chuhe truly witnessed Li Mu’s prestige within the Abyss-Suppressing Army.

Every soldier, regardless of age or cultivation level, stood at attention and saluted the mont they saw Li Mu.

Even those riding horses would rein in, dismount, and salute.

This left Song Chuhe deeply astonished.

He could tell with his usual sharpness that many of those soldiers riding past had still been quite far away.

Even if they had simply ridden on without greeting Li Mu, there would not have been any problem.

And yet many soldiers who were still so distance away, the mont they realized Li Mu was coming, not only did not avoid him, they deliberately approached and waited respectfully in advance.

Not a single one showed the slightest displeasure on his face.

It was almost as if Li Mu were so kind of celebrity idol. Beyond their respect, those soldiers seed to approach him simply so they could look at him a little longer from up close.

That scene shook Song Chuhe to his core.

He simply could not imagine how a high school student could beco so formidable that even Abyss-Suppressing Army soldiers held him in universal awe.

At that mont, he felt just how absurd Golden Scale High School’s challenge to Blackwater High School had been.

Golden Scale High School had even once suspected that Li Mu had only gone to provide support because he wanted to avoid the elite tournant.

Looking at it now, the elite tournant was probably nothing more than a child’s ga to Li Mu...Even Li Mu himself could only smile helplessly at the sight.

It seed that the matter of him killing the prisoners had already spread throughout the military district.

There were still plenty of people with backbone after all.

Otherwise, even when Li Mu usually passed through, he had never received this kind of treatnt, with countless eyes fixed on him.

Still, Li Mu was already used to it. He normally got this sort of reaction anyway, only today there were simply more people than usual.

That was a good thing. At the very least, it made him more confident about recruiting soldiers for the border camp.

After passing through the Teleportation Area, they arrived at the hall of Base One.

Both Song Chuhe and Xing Guang had to complete their enlistnt procedures.

Back when Xing Yang and Xing Guang had chosen different paths, that had actually been a decision the brothers made together.

They had both felt that if the two of them joined the military, then if they both died, the family line would end.

Besides, it really was easier to make a na for oneself above ground than in the Abyss-Suppressing Army.

So the two brothers had decided that one would go above and one below.

But their parents had always supported both of them joining the military, saying it would at least let them look after each other.

That would let their parents feel more at ease too.

As for the matter of the family line ending, their parents told them not to think too much about it.

They said that even if both of them died, their father and mother were still young, only in their forties. Having two more children would not be any issue.

They even said that if the two brothers failed to amount to anything, that would not be much different from being dead anyway.

On the very day the brothers entered school and moved into the dorms, their parents had actually celebrated with drinks. Then, the very next day, they boarded an airship and went off to Linyuan City for a trip.

So after Xing Yang learned that Li Mu was going to beco the commander of the border camp, he resolutely insisted that Xing Guang co with him as well.

They were going to follow Li Mu and make sothing of themselves.

They would give their unreliable parents a little military-rit shock.

Li Mu also took the opportunity to adjust the temporary military allotnts under the border camp commander’s post.

Because it was only a temporary military post, he had only ten officer-grade deputy slots under his na.

But none of those slots ca with a fixed military office.

Who would fill those ten temporary billets, how they would be used, and how many of them he would use at all, all of that was entirely up to Li Mu himself.

At the sa ti, back at Song Chuhe’s ho, Song Jianmin walked back to the apartnt in a daze.

He took out his key and opened the door.

The mont he stepped in, he heard soft crying from the inner room. When he went over to look, he saw his wife sewing money into the lining of so clothes.

The mont Song Jianmin spoke, he startled her.

“Wife, what are you doing?”

His wife wiped her tears and said, “I’m getting a few sets of clothes ready for you. If I hide a little money inside them, then you’ll at least be able to... Wait, that’s not right. Why are you back already??”

She froze halfway through and looked at her husband in confusion.

Had they let him co back to get clothes first, and then expected him to report to prison on his own?

From beginning to end, Song Jianmin wore a bewildered expression. He shook his head blankly.

“I... I don’t know either.”

“They were interrogating at the factory today when suddenly a whole group from the law enforcent team burst in.”

“They pinned all of them down right there on the spot.”

“Then people from the Tax Departnt ca and searched everything from top to bottom. They questioned for a bit, and then they let co ho...”
