Gu Shaocheng couldn’t help but laugh at her words: "Now, nobody says you’re not good enough for yourself. If you don’t believe it, just flip through the magazines. They all talk about how your face is blessed with good fortune, as if you were destined to marry into wealth."
"Those articles in the gossip magazines are all nonsense. I don’t believe them one bit." Really, she used to enjoy reading magazines, but ever since they’ve dissected her life from beginning to end, she stopped believing them; it’s all rubbish and balderdash.
"Don’t you think you have the face of good fortune? What sort of face do you think you have then? Co on, let take a good look," Gu Shaocheng said, pinching her chin.
Chenxing slapped his hand away, zipped into the blankets, hugged his waist, and then suddenly got up to turn off the light. She went back under the covers, snuggled into his arms, and hugged him with full dependency: "Ti to sleep! Any later and we’ll be a laughing stock!"
..............................................
As Gu Shaocheng stepped into the Gu Family dungeon once again, his mood was drastically different.
Previously, he had so rcy for He Yingteng because of their distant familial ties, but now that last bit of compassion had completely disappeared due to her heinous actions.
Holding a silk handkerchief to his nose, he walked step by step towards the cell where He Yingteng was imprisoned.
His steps were heavy, and filled with fury!
With a creak, the door opened and a subordinate unlocked the prison gate. The sll inside was pungent. Gu Shaocheng frowned and walked in, neither too fast nor too slow.
There were only two people in the dungeon: He Yingteng and her husband.
The man surnad Xia tucked his hands into his sleeves and crouched in the corner. Seeing Gu Shaocheng, he shrank further into the corner, not even uttering a plea for rcy, his eyes full of terror, wishing he could vanish into a hole in the ground.
Gu Shaocheng had no interest in him; he just walked over to He Ziteng, who was lying injured on a sowhat clean iron bed. Upon seeing Gu Shaocheng, she started cursing at him furiously, her pain over the days unleashing her shrewish nature without any hesitation. The subordinates following him could hardly stand the foul language and were itching to slap her, but Gu Shaocheng’s face remained utterly impassive, a picture of depth and stillness.
A subordinate brought in a chair and placed it behind Gu Shaocheng. He sat down slowly, displaying the air of an emperor, fidgeting with the ring on his finger. He took his ti to speak, indifferently listening to those indelicate words.
"Are you done cursing? Do you need so water to continue?" He finally narrowed his eyes slightly after a while.
Unexpectedly, in the next second, He Yingteng burst into loud crying, calling his na, "Shaocheng," over and over, like a mother calling out to her son.
"Shaocheng, let out, please. As long as you let out, I’ll never show my face to you again, I swear. I’ll avoid you at all costs. I won’t ask you for money anymore. Shaocheng, I’m your aunt after all, for the sake of your mother, I’m begging you, let go. This place isn’t fit for humans, I was hurt by you, I want to leave this place. Please, Shaocheng, I took care of you for years, you can’t be so ungrateful..."
