Gu Shaocheng noticed how resistant he was, his defiance was practically written all over his face. Unable to handle the pressure, he imdiately put on airs and said sternly, "I’m just asking you to further your studies. Why are you giving this attitude?"
Hua Hua belatedly realized his temperant might have been a bit much, so he toned it down slightly but still turned his head away, eyes fixated on a specific player moving across the LCD screen. Resolutely, he said, "I’m not going. Call whoever else you want, just leave out of it."
"I’m doing this for your own good. Don’t throw a tantrum on , or I’ll smack you."
"Then go ahead and smack !" Hua Hua snorted, stubbornly stretching his arm out: "Go ahead if you want, but you can forget about furthering my studies. I have zero interest. I’m happy with my current life, satisfied with my work, and I’ve already made a decent na for myself in this field. There’s no need to keep studying!"
Gu Shaocheng couldn’t help but laugh in frustration. He pushed Hua Hua’s outstretched arm back, paused for a mont, and changed his tone. "Being complacent, not striving for improvent—that’s not acceptable. As a man, you should always aim to better yourself. I, your elder brother, would love to pursue further studies right now, but I simply don’t have the ti. I’m giving you this rare opportunity, and you dare to throw it back in my face like you don’t appreciate it? Do you even realize how lucky you are?"
Lucky? In what universe?
No way was he going to be swayed into submission by so nonsensical speech. Sending him away at this timing—they definitely had ulterior motives!
Hua Hua gulped down his drink in one go, then turned to his brother, "Fine, but I refuse to leave City E. If it’s about further studies, I’ll find a university in City E and keep studying, no problem. But leaving City E? Brother, no way. I’m not agreeing to it."
"Why are you so stubborn?" He was flaring nostrils and glaring - and still using that "absolutely not" tone.
Hua Hua scoffed, ran to grab a few cold beers, and shot back, "You clearly just don’t like , so you want sent far away. And you call stubborn?"
"Did the sister-in-law say sothing to you? I knew she wasn’t reliable!" Hua Hua’s pent-up frustration flared up. "How can won be so untrustworthy, promising things and then turning around and treating those promises as garbage?"
He stood there, towering over the seated Gu Shaocheng, and spat, "Are you mad at ? Is this because I nearly hurt sister-in-law? So now you’re sending away? Is our brotherly bond worth less than a woman? Fine! What am I even worth? Sure, I can’t compare to Chenxing, but I didn’t actually hurt her, did I? So what’s her problem? Why can’t she tolerate ?"
Truth be told, as Hua Hua spoke, his heart was in complete turmoil.
Thinking back and forth, could it be that he drunkenly spilled his feelings about liking his brother that day, and then Chenxing couldn’t tolerate him anymore? Did she pillow-talk her way into convincing his brother to send him away? Gu Shaocheng listened to Hua Hua’s rant, completely baffled. "What hurt Chenxing? I don’t know what you’re talking about. My wanting to send you for further studies has nothing to do with Chenxing! Now sit down!"
"If it’s not related, then why the sudden urge to send away for further studies?!" He didn’t buy it!
Gu Shaocheng froze for a mont, forced to pause by the question, then recovered, speaking earnestly: "I’ve been wanting to send you for further studies; this idea isn’t new. It’s not sudden."
