Hua Hua stared unblinkingly at Gu Shaocheng. His beautiful eyes were shrouded in layers of mist, and tears stread uncontrollably down his pale cheeks. "You have to promise , you can’t let anything happen to you before I co back."
"You have to promise , nothing must happen to you! Absolutely nothing!"
As soon as he said this, even Nan Baihao, who had been in a daze, quietly turned his back, wiping the liquid that had rolled down from the corners of his eyes.
"Promise , you must promise , or I won’t leave. I absolutely won’t leave."
He spoke, and couldn’t hold back anymore, bursting into tears. As a man, Hua Hua had never truly cried before, but this ti, no matter how hard he tried to suppress the sobs, it was useless. He was utterly despairing, unable to restrain himself, and simply gave in to raw, unguarded pain.
And he cried so hard that his whole body trembled.
When Bai Wuqing and Yan Fengchi arrived and saw this scene, they couldn’t bear to look at Hua Hua’s pain any longer. Instead, they shifted their gazes to Gu Shaocheng. No one knew if his heart was truly made of stone. Yan Fengchi strode over in large steps: "Brother, enough, let’s stop this."
"Why must Hua Hua be sent so far away? Why must he be driven to this point? Can’t the five of us brothers always be together? Even if you’re worried, even if you have concerns, even if sothing unpredictable happens in the future... we’re still here, the four of us. We’ll all protect Hua Hua. He will forever be the little brother we cherish."
Bai Wuqing wiped the corners of his eyes gently with his fingertips and walked over as well. "Brother, take back your decision."
Nan Baihao turned and stepped closer too. "Brother, don’t send Hua Hua away."
Gu Shaocheng’s expression remained unchanged. After a long while, he finally embraced Hua Hua tightly. In that mont, even he felt his own heartlessness, devoid of any trace of humanity. His voice was as hoarse as his heart was heavy. "When have I ever said I would let sothing happen to ?"
Hua Hua clung to Gu Shaocheng with all his strength, repeating only one sentence, "Nothing must happen to you."
"Hua Hua, I’m not making arrangents for my own demise. I would never let anything happen to . I just hope you can go out there and grow. I hope you can conquer the War God within yourself, do you understand?"
"Because you’re my brother, that’s why I hope you will grow!"
"I’ll give you eight words: ’After countless trials, still unyielding; steadfast against the winds from all directions.’"
"When you can use your actions to prove that you possess the indomitable spirit I know you’re capable of, co back to . Does that sound fair?"
Could he say it didn’t? There was nothing he could decide for himself.
An indomitable spirit—how could words like these ever be associated with soone like Hua Hua?
Silently shedding tears, Hua Hua hugged his brother harder. At this mont, Bai Wuqing joined in and embraced them as well. Then Yan Fengchi, followed by Nan Baihao. The five brothers hugged tightly as one, a bond so strong it could withstand anything!
Nan Baihao: "No matter how the world changes, we will always be brothers. Rember this."
Yan Fengchi: "You’ll forever be my little brother. Go sooner, return sooner. When I get married, I still need you to make my groom’s suit!"
Bai Wuqing: "Don’t be sad. When you co back, bring a surprise."
Hua Hua looked at Gu Shaocheng, who said only two words: "Go now."
...
The car rumbled its way to the airport.
Ling Yin stood silently on the grass at the airport. Gu Shaocheng shook his hand, then turned sideways and said to Hua Hua, "I’ll see you off to this point. The rest of the road, you’ll walk on your own. Can you?"
