Doctor Tian’s voice, carrying a hint of excitent, ca through the phone: "Sir, do you have ti right now? Could you co to the sanatorium for a visit?"
Gu Shaocheng looked down at the blush spreading across Chenxing’s face, deliberated over Doctor Tian’s excited tone for a mont, weighed his options again and again, then gritted his teeth and withdrew himself from the throes of passion. Slowly and deliberately, he stood to the side and began tidying his clothes.
Chenxing’s post-crisis gesture of patting her chest in relief was nothing short of irritating. A man deprived of indulgence let out soft grumbles, hooked a wicked smile, bent down, and grabbed her chin: "Little pregnant lady, I’ll feed you tonight, no need to be regretful."
The next second, Chenxing’s face instantly fell.
No way?
Ugh, she protested!
"Where are you going?"
"The sanatorium. Want to co along?"
Chenxing imdiately bounced up, buttoning her shirt while vigorously nodding: "Of course! Did Doctor Tian call you because there’s progress over there?"
"Not sure yet, we’ll find out when we get there."
.................................
Two cars sped toward the sanatorium.
After a full half-hour drive, they finally stopped at the small villa within the sanatorium. Chenxing’s mother was still living in the villa. Chenxing didn’t stay behind to accompany her mother; instead, she chose to take a walk with Shaocheng. Their walk eventually led them through the iron gates and into the research facility.
It wasn’t until they t Doctor Tian that they realized—the call was indeed because there had been new breakthroughs, which was why he’d summoned Shaocheng.
Shaocheng chose to undergo a dical examination next.
anwhile, Chenxing sat quietly in Doctor Tian’s office, waiting.
"Doctor Tian, what’s the new breakthrough you ntioned? Recently, Shaocheng has been experiencing pain at night—though we don’t know exactly where, he just suffers silently, biting his teeth so hard we can hear the grinding sounds. When I ask him precisely where it hurts, he won’t say. He endures it all alone, and every ti I see it, I feel so heartbroken."
"There is new progress! The stem cell treatnt we previously employed had a slowing effect on so patients’ conditions, but unfortunately, it wasn’t effective for him. Later, our analysis showed that it was due to differing pathological causes."
"The main pathology behind Sir’s illness stems from poisoning. Recently, we encountered another patient suffering from the sa type of poisoning and managed to acquire the formula used in the toxin. This has greatly accelerated our research process. In addition, twenty of the world’s top experts have joined our research team recently. With so many brilliant minds working together, we’ve finally co up with a solution."
"We are currently experinting with the sa thod on another patient with identical poisoning. After ten days of observation, it seems to be showing so promising effects. This is why I’m considering whether Sir should try this new approach as well."
"Initially, I didn’t want to rush things, but Sir’s condition is becoming increasingly severe. We simply don’t have the luxury of waiting to fully ascertain the stability of this thod. If we delay any longer, I fear Sir’s legs might not be salvageable." As Doctor Tian spoke, a trace of worry flashed in his eyes. "I’ve already suggested multiple tis that Sir stay at the sanatorium for treatnt, but he keeps rejecting the idea. Miss Chen Xing, could you help persuade him? Right now, Sir is still overworking himself with business matters, but his body can’t endure it anymore. The intensity of his nightti pain alone proves that he needs hospitalization."
Chenxing knew Doctor Tian was right, but Shaocheng also had his own reservations and concerns.
