Crimson Shadow didn’t say a word. He had known for a long ti that the master was ill, so he wasn’t particularly shocked. His heart was unwaveringly loyal to Gu Shaocheng. He wasn’t much of a talker to begin with, spending his days imrsed in gas. All he said was: "Mm."
As for the others, they weren’t the type to make grand declarations of absolute loyalty. But when it ca down to it, their loyalty ran bone-deep, without an ounce of pretense.
"Thank you." This was what Gu Shaocheng said.
Just then, a phone call ca in.
"Sir, we’ve captured soone in the courtyard of Young Master Hua’s villa. We found so of Young Master Hua’s belongings on him. He claims to be The Great Lai and asks to see you."
Gu Shaocheng wasn’t in the mood to deal with it. He issued a curt command: "Keep the belongings, release him, and tell him I won’t et him."
At that mont, the phone was snatched away by The Great Lai, and his arrogant voice ca through: "Gu Shaocheng, where did you exile Hua Chu to?"
"I’m warning you, Hua Chu is soone I care about. If you bully him, I’ll be the first to refuse!"
"You’d best bring Hua Chu back obediently, or don’t bla for being ruthless. I, The Great Lai, am making this clear today: if I don’t find a trace of Hua Chu in City E within a month, you’ll bear the consequences!"
The Great Lai was about to say sothing even harsher, but when he glanced at the phone again, the other side had already forcefully hung up the call. Damn it! Fury overtaking him, the young master threw the borrowed phone to the ground with force. In the next second, he grabbed one of the bodyguards by the tie, shoving him against the wall, locking his arm tightly around the man’s neck: "Speak! Where is Hua Chu?"
Damn it, he hadn’t been able to gather any news about Hua Chu for a long ti. Even Hua Chu’s favorite pasti of updating his Weibo had stopped. The last post was filled with grief and despair, as though sothing had cornered him into a dead end.
What exactly happened?
The only information he managed to uncover was that Hua Chu had been exiled sowhere by Gu Shaocheng. But where was it? He had spent a fortune and tried every possible channel, yet still couldn’t buy any useful information!
"I don’t know. I’m just a low-ranking bodyguard. Since the master has decided to let you go, you should leave. Otherwise, I’ll call for backup, and you’ll face the consequences for trespassing on Gu Family territory!"
"Brother, what happened?" On the other side, Yan Fengchi asked.
Gu Shaocheng pondered for a mont: "Nothing."
Then he waved his hand. "You all can leave now and get back to your own tasks. Leng Tong, send a few n to guard Hua Hua’s villa. I don’t want anyone going in and moving Hua Hua’s belongings."
Leng Tong responded in a deep voice: "I’ll arrange it imdiately."
After the bodyguards all left, Gu Shaocheng lifted the quilt. Chenxing imdiately stood up: "Shaocheng, what are you doing?"
"Uh... I want to use the restroom."
Chenxing quickly approached him. "I’ll help you."
Gu Shaocheng chuckled, not refusing. He beckoned Yan Fengchi over with his other hand, leaning his full weight partially on both of them. Most of the strain fell on Yan Fengchi’s shoulder. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, his voice tightening as he exclaid: "I think... my legs, they seem to have so feeling!"
"Really?"
"There’s a bit of sensation, but they’re weak and lack strength. I can’t stand firm on my own. Maybe if I had crutches, I could manage independently," he murmured, slowly closing his eyes, focusing on the faint sensations in his limbs. His thoughts wandered—perhaps if he rested longer this ti, he might recover fully at last?
