Gu Shaocheng was sitting in a wheelchair, being pushed out into the courtyard. The rare winter sun shone warmly on him. He held the phone in his hand, smiling amicably: "It’s no big deal, Third Granduncle. It’s not the first ti. This is just my fate—every year, I have to deal with one illness or another. Gu Fei truly liked the gift from Gu Shaocheng, and his face radiated affection: "Since you’re injured, just focus on recovery. When I find so free ti, I’ll co visit you."
"Sure, Third Granduncle. When you plan to co, just give a call, and I’ll arrange for soone to pick you up with a private jet."
Gu Fei chatted with him for a bit longer over the phone before Gu Shaocheng finally hung up and casually placed his phone into the hidden compartnt next to his wheelchair.
Chenxing, heavily pregnant, waddled over and lowered herself to sit beside him: "Why are you still inviting people to co see you? If they really co, everything will be exposed."
"When n talk, nine out of ten sentences are nonsense, and the last one is a test. The more I say such things, the less likely he is to co. Co closer, let bond a little with my son." Gu Shaocheng’s lips curled into a shrewd smile.
Chenxing, having just sat down, stood back up. Supporting her back with both hands, she leaned her round, bulging belly slightly toward him.
Gu Shaocheng reached out to touch her belly, gently running his hand over it: "Yesterday, I told you to get an ultrasound to check if it’s a boy or a girl. Did the results co in yet?"

Chenxing stamred. Gu Shaocheng didn’t get a clear answer, so he raised his head and asked, "What’s with all the ’uh’s? I’m asking you—boy or girl?"
"I didn’t go get the ultrasound. Why should I find out early whether it’s a boy or a girl? That would spoil the mystery, and there’d be no sense of anticipation. Either way, I’ll love it whether it’s a boy or a girl."
But Gu Shaocheng’s expression darkened, and he glanced at Chenxing with visible annoyance: "Why are you so disobedient? I’ve told you several tis to go get the ultrasound. Every ti, you just shrug off! You might not care whether it’s a boy or a girl, but I care—got it? Go and get it done today. Try brushing off again and see what happens! "You’ll what, hit ?" she said, stepping back a few paces before flashing a smug look as if daring him. She stuck her tongue out at him, leaning slightly forward with her belly in prominence.
The woman who had deflected him ti and again now spoke her mind directly: "I’m just not going to find out whether it’s a boy or a girl. I refuse to pander to this obsession with boys over girls! When the baby is born, we’ll see what it is, and that’s that!"
Gu Shaocheng slamd his hand heavily on the armrest of his wheelchair: "So now that I’m like this, you think I’ve lost all control over you?"
