Chenxing pursed her lips: "How is it you who lack competence? Clearly, it’s my belly that’s not competent."
The man on the other end, doing his best to hide the disappointnt in his heart, coaxed softly:
"Chenxing, how many tis do I need to tell you? Whether it’s a boy or a girl depends on my capability."
"A fool who clearly didn’t pay attention in biology class. Do you need to teach you again?"
"If there’s incompetence to talk about, then it’s , Gu Shaocheng, who is incompetent. I didn’t have the skill to gift you two boys I’ve been wishing for."
"So, this has nothing to do with you. Alright, stop crying, okay? Think about it, you’re not a Silly, are you? Running over to Baihao and crying—what’s that about? Do you actually expect him to comfort you and hug you for reassurance?"
Nan Baihao, listening to his brother’s voice on the phone, automatically visualized the scenario described. Suddenly, he shuddered. If he really hugged Chenxing to comfort her, wouldn’t his brother tear him to pieces?
Besides, apart from his Huanhuan, he honestly didn’t feel like comforting any won!
If one day Chenxing cried in front of him for real, he figured, given his personality, he’d most likely just wait for her to finish crying.
"Hurry ho, little pregnant lady. I miss you. Not seeing you for half a day makes feel restless all over."
Chenxing blinked her eyes and continued to press for answers. "Will you give a hard ti when I return?"
"Actually, having two little princesses isn’t bad either. By then, they’ll all be my warm little cotton jackets, unlike boys, who are too difficult to manage." Gu Shaocheng comforted himself from the other end of the phone, letting out a slight sigh, his voice tender and soothing: "By then, our house will have three won—one big and two small—buzzing with life. What do you think?"
Chenxing hugged her arms, listening to Gu Shaocheng’s words. The knot in her heart instantly smoothed out completely. Soon after, a sliver of sweetness welled up inside her, and she couldn’t help but let her lips curl into a smile.
"Alright, don’t throw tantrums at Baihao. Hurry up, get in the car, and co ho."
Gu Shaocheng hung up the phone and then dialed Nan Baihao’s number, giving him a few instructions. Hearing that Chenxing was finally willing to get in the car, he felt relieved and called Leng Tong over. "Go buy a bouquet of roses, quick."
"Sir, how many roses should I get?"
"Eleven."
He lifted his eyes slightly, guessing to himself that the little lady must still be feeling uneasy. He had been ntioning having sons all the ti in front of her, and now she’s given birth to two daughters. She must be trembling inside, worried he’d give her a hard ti.
He could understand that feeling!
But honestly, there was still so disappointnt. Why was it two daughters? A boy and a girl would’ve been better. Yet, fate had decided otherwise... He had probably slaughtered the entire family of the King of Hell in his past life. Otherwise, why would the King of Hell mock him like this—asking for sothing but never getting it? Without a son, in the future... His thoughts ran wild but halted before venturing too far into distant dreams.
Subconsciously, he began to think that daughters were quite adorable too!
After all, his illness wasn’t as severe as he had initially feared. Though it hadn’t significantly improved, it hadn’t worsened either. Since he wasn’t going to die, whether it’s sons or daughters didn’t really matter. Sons could always co later—if not now, then soti in the future!
Instinctively, he started imagining what his two daughters might look like. Based on appearances, they’d likely be a combination of him and Chenxing. "Soone, bring a sheet of paper and a pencil."
He wanted to sketch out his daughters’ potential faces.
Following the images in his mind, he began to outline what he thought his daughters might look like.
