Speak of the devil and he doth appear.
Just at that mont, the door to the hospital room was pushed open, and Chenxing walked in, rubbing her eyes. Seeing Gu Shaocheng, she excitedly rushed over, "They said you’re awake..."
In her heart were a myriad of words ready to tumble out, but when she saw the man slightly furrow his brows, she swallowed back all those words.
"Why are you here?" He had just sent her ho, it hadn’t even been fifteen minutes, and here she was, standing excitedly in front of him, dark circles under her eyes indicating exhaustion.
"Sir, Miss Ye insisted on coming when she heard that you had awakened. She refused to go ho, so I had to bring her." A subordinate reported from the doorway of the hospital room.
Bai Wuqing rose to his feet, saying to Gu Shaocheng, "You better rest. Don’t worry about anything else." He then walked out, dismissing the subordinate, kindly closing the door behind him, giving them a quiet and private space.
Chenxing’s misty eyelashes trembled. She choked up, "You finally woke up. I was terrified, thinking you wouldn’t wake up again."
Gu Shaocheng gave her a weak smile. He didn’t dare to move too much, his voice was faint. "Take off your shoes and lay down."
This was a VIP ward, the bed was a ter and a half wide, large enough for two. But Chenxing shook her head.
"Co on."
In a commanding tone that allowed no room for refusal, Chenxing looked at him, finally complying by removing her shoes and coat, then slid carefully next to him. "Are you in pain now? Can you promise not to do such things anymore?"
Gu Shaocheng had spoken with Bai Wuqing for a while, and now he was feeling rather tired, his spirits not quite right. Seeing him closing his eyes, his breath shallow as if he had fallen asleep again, she bit her lip to keep from disturbing him.
She had many questions, wanting him to provide the answers.
But the recent events were too alarming, and despite her many questions, she didn’t dare to ask. She too was tired and looking at his sleeping face, she gradually fell asleep herself.
After a while, Gu Shaocheng slowly opened his eyes, his gaze lingering on her sleeping form for a long ti, deep emotions stirring within him.
In a hesitant whisper, he muttered to himself. "Back then... It was a tough ti, you can even say it was worse than death. But then you, who were so young, appeared... Because of you, everything changed. It was because of you that I could endure and the success I have today... It’s thanks to you... It was your words that gave the strength to endure the hardship. I overca all the difficulties and made it to where I am today."
Ti passed, and he was now an invincible force, but while reminiscing the past, he couldn’t help himself. His words were disjointed and out of order, struggling to articulate his thoughts clearly.
Overwheld with emotion, he closed his eyes tightly, needing to control the stirring emotions within him. "Since fate has brought you back to , the only thing I can do is to keep you by my side, making sure you’re carefree for the rest of your life. If you truly hate , I can only offer you my life."
At this mont, Chenxing was fast asleep, not hearing his words. He chuckled, not giving any further explanation nor wanting to. His character was such—he was a man who preferred to keep his feelings suppressed within him.
