"Daddy probably doesn’t have magic, so the spell doesn’t work. Why don’t we try it? We are super babies with magic!" Little Zun Zun blinked his big eyes, clasped his hands together, pointed his index fingers at the air: "Shoo shoo... shoo shoo... shoo shoo..."
Little Sheng Sheng rolled his eyes unapologetically: "We don’t have magic."
"If I say we have it, we have it. I’m the older brother, you have to listen to my command. Shoo shoo... shoo shoo... shoo shoo..."
Little Sheng Sheng sighed: "Alright."
Little Zun Zun imdiately climbed off the bed, trying to turn on the music, but it was too high. He couldn’t reach, so he scurried to get a chair, quickly climbed onto it, and turned on the music switch.
The Wedding March suddenly played.
Little Zun Zun and Little Sheng Sheng stood solemnly by Mommy’s window, reciting a line each. They knew these spells by heart.
"Wait!" Little Zun Zun suddenly said, then scurried off again, returning quickly with two toy magic wands from the Bala Bala Little Magic Fairy, quickly stuffing one into Little Sheng Sheng’s hand: "Only with this will it work."
Little Zun Zun raised the magic wand, mischievously and weirdly chanting:
"Mr. Gu Shaocheng, do you take this woman to be your wife, to join with her in marriage? Will you love her, care for her, respect her, accept her, and be ever faithful to her till death do you part, no matter sickness or health, or any other reason?"
Little Sheng Sheng also raised the magic wand, "I do."
Little Zun Zun continued, "Miss Zhou Chenxing, do you take this man to be your husband, to join with him in marriage? Will you love him, care for him, respect him, accept him, and be ever faithful to him till death do you part, no matter sickness or health, or any other reason?"
Instinctively, the two little kids simultaneously pointed their magic wands at Mommy, staring at her without blinking.
A full minute passed.
Little Zun Zun dejectedly retracted his magic wand, pondering a profound question: "Sheng Sheng, why isn’t it working?"
Little Sheng Sheng muttered in a low voice: "I told you, we’re just like Daddy, without magic."
Little Zun Zun, disheartened, plopped to the ground, clearly unable to accept that he didn’t have magic — sothing that seriously dented his confidence, mumbling: "Why don’t I have magic?"
"Because our Daddy doesn’t have magic."
"Why don’t we have magic if Daddy doesn’t have magic?"
Little Sheng Sheng also didn’t understand. Biting his thumb, he sucked on it and pondered. This was a profound question. After swallowing his saliva, he finally ca up with a possibility: "Because we haven’t eaten. Only after eating will we have magic."
It indeed made a lot of sense.
Little Zun Zun imdiately got up, grabbed Little Sheng Sheng’s hand, and decisively went to eat, leaving Gu Shaocheng, who had been woken up but continued to pretend to sleep, slowly crawling to the adjacent bed, gently extending his hand to rest on her waist, tightening it, unable to find the words.
