She was so intoxicated by his kiss that her mind started to spin, while all he could think of was her vulnerable and terrified state from the day before. He regretted making her experience the suffering that he himself had endured.
Thinking about his anger, cruelty, and loss of control from the previous day, he wished fervently that he could stab his own heart.
He pulled her into his embrace, imprisoning her in his broad chest, his affection deepening as he felt her fingers painting circles on his diaphragm.
They did nothing for the entire morning. Underneath the sunlit balcony was a vast expanse of sea, the line where the blue and white skies t clearly visible.
Gu Shaocheng said he wasn’t going to do anything today. He was having a bit of a headache from drinking the night before and he planned to dedicate the day to her. However, the sound of knocking at the door interrupted his plan.
"What is it?"
The newly replaced Secretary Little A, elegantly dressed, walked in, "Sir, Lin Quan Corporation wants to bring the eting forward because the president’s 60th birthday is in a few days. They’ve sent an invitation."
Chenxing did not understand his professional engagents, but she belatedly realized in the following days that he was truly busy, not rely taking her on vacation.
After checking out of the hotel, they hopped on a plane to the famous Hokkaido, Japan.
Hokkaido felt rural and Sapporo Airport was unimaginably small. It was snowy and cold; that was Chenxing’s overall impression of the journey there.
As they drove along the winding mountain road, they could see schoolgirls heading ho, treading over the thick snow in their short skirts. Pressed against the window, she could even see lecherous n wielding professional caras without cease, sneakily taking pictures of these skirted schoolgirls.
Utter disgust filled her heart as she huddled in Gu Shaocheng’s arms. He, however, was busy with his laptop, the screen filled with data models that made her head spin.
They eventually arrived at a private villa. Brother Baihao said it was a traditional Japanese villa he purchased when he ca for a vacation with Huanhuan last year. The villa had no western elents, but the only thing that delighted Chenxing was the hot spring in its backyard. She would take a dip if she had nothing else to do.
Gu Shaocheng was frequently out, leaving her with chilly bodyguards and an elderly Japanese woman who kept things in order.
"Gu Shaocheng, why did you bother bringing along if you’re so busy? You left missing classes and having nothing to do!", she grumbled while exploring the snow-filled town. To herself, she even speculated that he might be regretting bringing her along.
"Miss Chenxing, have so milk to warm your stomach." The elderly Japanese woman presented her a warm cup of Hokkaido milk. It didn’t taste good; it was directly delivered from a milk factory, subjected to minor processing. She sat there staring blankly out the window, clutching the warm cup of milk.
The view out the window was always blanketed with snow, besides white, there was no other color. Apart from the soft falling of the snowflakes, there was no other sound. Despite the clean air, one could grow tired of such a place after a while.
By the ti Gu Shaocheng arrived ho, she had fallen asleep by the window.
He gently lifted her onto the bed, arranged her on the tatami mattress, and covered her with a blanket. His expression was filled with remorse.
Chenxing was a light sleeper, she woke up as soon as he moved. Spotting Gu Shaocheng upon waking, she extended her arms for a hug: "Shaocheng, you’re back?"
"Mhm." He leaned down and planted a kiss on her face.
