At the sa instant, Gu Shaocheng released himself, holding Chenxing, who was now collapsed against him, tightly.
Nan Baihao was struggling. He didn’t know whether to interrupt his brother’s mont, but the situation was a matter of life or death. He couldn’t treat his brother’s life lightly, thus without further consideration, he gently knocked twice, "We need to leave, brother. It’s not safe here."
"Shaocheng." Chenxing finally heard Nan Baihao’s voice from outside the room.
"Hm!" Gu Shaocheng grunted, pressed Chenxing against the wall, said "Don’t move" in a low voice, then quickly walked a few steps away, grabbed two sets of clothes. There was only one bulletproof vest, which he put on Chenxing without hesitation. Then, with his arm around her and a silver gun in his other hand, he asked,"Scared?"
Chenxing was so weak she could hardly move. She hadn’t seen anything terrifying that might have frightened her. Enclosed in Gu Shaocheng’s embrace, she shook her head, "Not scared."
A bodyguard pulled open the door, ready to protect Gu Shaocheng as he exited.
As the door was pushed open, the sll of gunpowder filled the air. Chenxing didn’t seem to notice, her mind still clouded by the lingering passion and she wasn’t fully alert. She was being held by Gu Shaocheng; though it was night, the falling snowflakes made the darkness and the dawn feel indistinguishable.
Suddenly spotting a bodyguard collapsed in a pool of blood, there wasn’t much blood, just specks of red blooming like flowers amid the vast whiteness of the snow, creating a strange and eerie atmosphere.
Chenxing finally felt her blood boiling. Almost instantly, her body beca chilled, her chest tightened and she nearly threw up.
Seeing what Chenxing saw, Gu Shaocheng noticed the fallen bodyguards, two or three of them. Their sight had caused his lady to tremble with cold fear in his arms.
Seeing Chenxing’s reaction, his eyes darkened slightly, a touch of cold determination flashing in his gaze.
"Brother, you go first, I’ll be right behind you," Nan Baihao ordered his subordinates: "Protect our boss at all costs!"
"Don’t look!" Gu Shaocheng ordered, pressing Chenxing’s head towards him. The stunned Chenxing felt like a wooden puppet being carefully guided away from the brutal scene.
Sensing the eerie surroundings, Chenxing slowly closed her eyes. The oppressive feeling in her chest gradually eased, and her mind began to clear. They were in danger, and their lives were at risk?
Never had Chenxing felt such safety and warmth in Gu Shaocheng’s arms as she did in that mont.
She closed her eyes, entrusting herself to him completely.
Gunshots echoed around them. She could not understand the situation, but she heard a bodyguard say softly, "Sir, get in the car quickly!"
Flanked by bodyguards, Gu Shaocheng made his way to the car, half-embracing, half-carrying Chenxing. His steps were steady; Chenxing lay in his arms, her head resting on his chest. To an outsider, it would seem as if she were peacefully sleeping.
