What kind of dream did he have? Was he crying in his dream?

"Hua Hua, Hua Hua, wake up..." Ling Yin tried to rouse him from his dream.

Hua Hua was still imrsed in his dream, silent tears rolling drop by drop. He was unaware because he wasn’t crying in the dream; he simply couldn’t understand why the brother who promised to protect him always abandoned him. Was it because he did sothing wrong?

He really couldn’t understand how the brother who said they would be together forever could suddenly disappear. Did he despise him for being a burden?

"Little Chu, Little Chu, wake up..."

Hua Hua perked up his ears. He stood on an empty street, looking to the left, then to the right, hearing soone calling Little Chu. Who was calling Little Chu? It seed soone in this world had called him Little Chu once, or so he thought, but he couldn’t rember. Was it the brother who abandoned him, or soone else?

No, his na wasn’t Little Chu; he was Hua Hua!

He was the handsoly charming man admired by all, Hua Hua, with fans all over the world. He wasn’t Little Chu!

"Little Chu, wake up, are you having a nightmare? Don’t cry..."

Don’t call Little Chu; I’m not having a nightmare. My world is brilliant and wonderful. Why would I cry? Haha, what a joke. Would Hua Hua cry? Are you out of your mind?

Hua Hua sat on the street, humming and muttering. Not far away, Gu Shaocheng was waving at him, and Hua Hua imdiately sprang up and rushed towards him.

Ling Yin noticed that the corners of Hua Hua’s mouth suddenly turned up, and his expression changed from anguish to calmness. Only then did his own tense heart slowly relax.

What sort of dream made him cry and laugh?

He tucked Hua Hua in, leaned over, and kissed the corner of his eye.

Ling Yin went to the bathroom, took a shower, and when he ca back, he lay down beside Hua Hua, clothed. Hua Hua turned over and directly hugged his waist. Ling Yin was slightly stunned, not daring to move. Hua Hua didn’t move either, quietly nesting his head against Ling Yin’s chest.

He was sleepless all night, staring at the back of Hua Hua’s head, his mind filled with tangled thoughts.

He rembered long, long ago when Hua Hua used to hold onto his waist like this, falling asleep deeply through the worst circumstances, with no sense of wariness, as if clutching his waist would shield him from any collapse of the heavens.

Ling Yin’s mories, once vague, now grew clearer the more he thought about it.

Many things he thought he had forgotten, but facing familiar sensations, mories were summoned forth, unraveling from the depths of his soul.

There were joyful tis in his childhood, those were at Uncle Yuan’s house. He didn’t rember much of those beautiful tis, as people often rember changes and hardships more vividly. His most profound mory was when he and Hua Hua were sent onto a plane by Uncle Yuan. Uncle Yuan said that from then on, only he and Hua Hua would depend on each other. He ntioned that soone would et them when the plane landed, but he was to take good care of Little Chu and remain wary of any outsiders, even the bodyguards.

Now he thought of it, realizing how Uncle Yuan had been driven to his wits’ end, to tell a five-year-old such things. Yes, unless faced with utter desperation and no alternatives, how else would he place a three-year-old Little Chu in the hands of a five-year-old, burdening him with such responsibilities?

That was the first ti he realized he had a responsibility to protect Little Sister Chu, that he couldn’t let him suffer, couldn’t leave him. In the following years, no matter how difficult or tiring, he kept rembering that this was his duty, as long as he saw Little Chu’s pitiable peach blossom eyes, he’d do anything without regret, even though he himself was a child who needed to be cared for and protected!
