Hua Hua lay on the bed, rolled over twice—indeed, nothing beats the comfort of your own bed.
There’s a saying that’s just too true: A gold nest or a silver nest is not as good as your own doghouse.
"I wonder if Mao Mao will be uncomfortable staying at soone else’s place." Before leaving, Ling Yin had sent Mao Mao to stay with soone else; it must be uncomfortable, right? "Why don’t you call and check in?"
Ling Yin nodded and decisively called Bing Yu. Bing Yu irritably cut off the call, outright refusing to answer.
Even complained: "For the sake of Mao Mao, calling every few hours is simply unbearable."
Ling Yin innocently showed the phone to Hua Hua, and Hua Hua snorted, "Then send a text, ask for a picture of our Mao Mao safe and sound. Otherwise, I won’t be at ease."
Ling Yin sent a text, and soon a picture of Mao Mao wagging its tail, pitifully begging Bing Yu, was sent back.
"They must be skimping on Mao Mao’s dog food; otherwise, Mao Mao wouldn’t be so obsequious." Hua Hua automatically conjured up an image of Bing Yu mistreating Mao Mao and almost wanted to rush over to Spain and rescue Mao Mao: "I said we should bring Mao Mao back, but you insisted on sending him to soone else’s house. See, surely he’s being mistreated."
"Isn’t he doing just fine?" Ling Yin smiled helplessly.
"What’s fine about this? No dignity at all, how can he act so ingratiating towards others!" The dog I raised, Hua Hua thought, must be as dignified as —uncompromising and uncorrupted by wealth!
Ling Yin couldn’t help but chuckle, opting not to discuss this further, but he thought—Hua Hua loves little animals so much and has opened an orphanage, surely he must love children too?
"Hua Hua, do you prefer boys or girls?"
Upon hearing ’children,’ Hua Hua felt overwheld—having spent the whole afternoon in his brother’s study listening endlessly about kids, only to co ho and hear Ling Yin nagging. "Why are you asking?"
"No reason, just asking casually."
Hua Hua pondered: "I like both boys and girls. But all my brothers have boys; if my fourth sister-in-law can have a girl in the future, that would be nice."
"Why wish for others to have children?" Ling Yin asked indirectly, "If you like them, we can have a few daughters ourselves."
As soon as he finished speaking, Hua Hua looked at Ling Yin with a startled expression.
Finally, his gaze settled on Ling Yin’s belly, and Ling Yin could discern what he was thinking just from his eyes, causing his back to tense as he added, "I an surrogacy."
Whew...
"You scared ! I thought technology had advanced enough for you to get pregnant." Hua Hua opened his mouth in doubt, "Did my brother ask you about this too?"
It must be! His brother, frustrated here, turned to focus on Ling Yin?
"Hmm?"
"Did my brother secretly talk to you during dinner? Discuss surrogacy?" Hua Hua hugged a pillow, scratching his head: "You know, my brother worries too much, doesn’t he? He always wants to be in control, make all the decisions, expects everyone to listen to him. Just ignore him; let it go in one ear and out the other!"
Ling Yin, with just this bit of dialogue, almost pieced things together.
Following the clues, Ling Yin, sitting alongside, said, "Do you want kids? It’s early to consider, but it’s not out of the question. Hua Hua, if you like kids, why don’t we look into surrogacy? After I get married, I plan to have more children, I do love kids."
