Chenxing didn’t speak another word. On her small single bed, she dared not pace around restlessly but could not fall asleep either.
Tears quietly and silently cascaded from the corners of her eyes.
Only when the night grew quiet and people had gone to bed, did her thoughts start to calm down. At this mont, her mind was filled with doubts. What kind of enmity or grudge did her parents bear with the Gu family? Why did Gu Shaocheng ruthlessly murder them?
People often overlook things that do not concern them directly. Seeing the Gu family’s sentinels always ard with so many guns, she used to think they were mighty and cool. But now they seed to her like a bunch of savages, who regarded the law as nothing and human life as worthless.
Murder, arson, robbery, they committed every imaginable cri!
And Gu Shaocheng was the blood-stained kingpin behind it all!
Thud thud thud! Thud thud thud!
The peaceful, silent study was shattered by the sound of knocking on the door. Gu Shaocheng, who had been holding his forehead, lowered his hand, leaned back in his chair and pressed his temples, saying, "Co in."
"Sir, the files you requested are all here," the butler entered with a stack of slightly old file folders.
"Put them down."
"Yes, sir." The butler quietly withdrew, taking a few steps and pausing before turning around to look at Gu Shaocheng. "Sir, you should get so sleep earlier."
Gu Shaocheng silently waved his hand.
The butler sighed, leaving the room. If the master didn’t sleep, he also wouldn’t sleep.
Early the next morning, his little nap was disturbed when the study door was pushed open. As the butler shook his head a little, he saw Gu Shaocheng leaving with the file folders. He quickly followed after him. Gu Shaocheng walked extrely fast. Without turning his head, he said, "Butler, go to sleep. There’s no need for you here."
Gu Shaocheng was wide awake all night. After thinking for the whole night, he still felt that even if Chenxing read the files, she might not believe it, unless...
Unless her biological mother showed up, or a paternity test was taken...
He drove alone to the Wang Family.
Truthfully, he didn’t hope Chenxing would recognize her ancestry at all. After finding Chenxing, he had never told Wang Fengtong that he had found her missing daughter.
Wang Fengtong, Wang Yuanyuan’s aunt, Zhou Heyang’s wife, was sowhat deranged after losing her daughter and was convalescing in the best ntal hospital in City E. The Wang family had been exploiting this trump card all these years, managing to squeeze nurous benefits from the Gu family.
They even sent Wang Yuanyuan to the Gu family, in a self-romanticizing attempt to replace Zhou Heyang’s daughter with another from the Wang family.
Gu Shaocheng chuckled: that would hinge on whether he was willing to do their bidding or not.
But as soon as he drove out of his family’s gate, another car blocked his way. Nan Baihao popped out of the car, ca over, and knocked on the car window.
Gu Shaocheng put the car into neutral gear and rolled down the window.
"Brother, where are you going? I was thinking, how about letting Huanhuan persuade Chenxing... well, actually, I don’t think persuading her would work," He scratched his head, giving off an even more irritated vibe than Gu Shaocheng, "If soone killed my parents, I would’ve shot him dead long ago! If you really like that girl so much, why don’t you just take her ho and lock her up in a room?"
Gu Shaocheng gave him a flat look: "Go to hell."
"Hey, bro, I’m trying to help..."
Gu Shaocheng had already rolled up the car window, put the car in reverse, stepped on the accelerator, and bypassed the car blocking his way, speeding away.
... I don’t quite know how I want to write these few Chapters. I might update more slowly today. I’ll update the Chapter before 8 o’clock tonight. I mainly haven’t figured out the background yet, so I’m having trouble writing it.
