At that mont, Sheng Sheng had already reached Maimai’s bedroom door. His hand rested on the doorknob, but when he heard Selena’s blushing and heartbeat-filled questioning, Sheng Sheng hesitated, released the handle, and walked toward the open-air balcony at the end of the corridor.
With just a few short steps, he leaned against the railing, switched his phone to the other hand, and hesitated.
"Not bad."
Maimai’s heart lit up for a second, then roared, "What do you an ’not bad’? Is it really like or just so-so like? But you’re terrible for teasing ! I always thought you were Brother Zun. You have no idea how much of a fool I made of myself. Brother Zun laughed himself to death, saying you did this to fool on purpose?"
Sheng Sheng didn’t speak for a while, just lowered his head and stared at a tree below, its lush leaves casting layered shadows on the ground. Did Maimai often stand under that tree?
In Sheng Sheng’s mind, he imagined that scene, and a smile unconsciously ford on his lips.
Unknowingly, he even laughed out loud.
"You’re still laughing?" Maimai heard his laughter, and grumbled over the phone, "I’m about to be laughed to death by others. You must give a reasonable explanation today, or I won’t let it go with you!"
After saying that, Maimai felt a little regretful, fearing she might give a bad impression with her fierce attitude. She had long forgotten all the sides Sheng Sheng had seen of her over the past year, having witnessed all her embarrassing monts.
Anyway, her mind was short-circuited at the mont and couldn’t rember, feeling she was too fierce. So she softened her tone and acted a little cutesy, "You’re so annoying!"
Sheng Sheng slightly restrained the corners of his mouth. At this mont, his mind was full of his little cousin, eager to go to her room to see what she really looked like. It was as if a giant Rubik’s cube awaited him to unfold ahead.
Maimai perked up her ears, unable to hear a response, and impatiently said, "Co on, explain yourself, or I won’t be able to sleep tonight, I’m so frustrated!"
She even yawned.
"Afraid that you might develop a crush on , huh?" Sheng Sheng’s teasing voice held a few traces of truth. Initially, he did have ulterior motives, thinking there was no need to explain. He even thought if this little girl ended up liking Zun Zun, he might have one less romantic rival. He always assud that Zun Zun and Wubai were eyeing Maimai for a long ti too, so he didn’t tell Maimai anything about them to eliminate his competitor.
Since everyone is a rival in love, let’s see who has the best tricks!
But...
As he spent more ti with Selena, he found his heart beginning to waver, unable to resist her allure. By the ti he wanted to explain, it was too late, so he just let things develop.
Maimai’s heart shattered into pieces hearing this. Luckily, it wasn’t the first ti they bickered, so she held back from crying, but her heart truly ached. Her face almost couldn’t hold it anymore. "Is that really the reason?"
"Probably." Sheng Sheng sighed, "I’m sorry for causing the misunderstanding; it really was my fault. I’m Sheng Sheng, Zun Zun’s younger brother."
"You’re just afraid I’ll fall for you, so you’ve been deceiving and toying with . Is that true?" Maimai couldn’t even process his words at this point, her freshly awakened feelings scattered everywhere.
