At that mont, she buried herself in his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. In a mont of utter dependence, she clung to him without saying a word, releasing all the pent-up emotions in his embrace.
Gu Shaocheng wanted to comfort her, but in the end, he didn’t utter a single word. Instead, he simply tilted his body, allowing his hand to gently stroke her back, accepting her complaints and surprises.
Seeing her pour out her grievances like a child, a smile involuntarily spread across his face.
Chenxing lifted her tear-streaked eyes.
She grabbed his arm in a rather unreasonable manner, forcing him to make a promise, "You promise you won’t be like this again. No more sleeping for so long, leaving scared and alone. Promise now."
Gu Shaocheng was both amused and touched. He gently caressed her cheek, his lips swallowing her tears, speaking softly, "Don’t cry, I promise I won’t leave you scared and alone again, okay?"
Chenxing, still worried she was hallucinating, stared at his face. His eyes were bright and clear, revealing a sense of vulnerability while asleep that made one’s heart ache. But now, he was smiling, speaking, looking at her affectionately - the current Gu Shaocheng was a picture of life and vitality.
Her nose tingled and her eyes bead, "You’ve promised now, you can’t go back on that, I heard you."
"I know your promises are trustworthy, Gu Shaocheng, you’re finally awake..."
"Do you know, if you hadn’t woken up, I might not have wanted to go on living! Wah..."
"Alright, don’t cry. Why are you so addicted to crying? Didn’t I promise you? Now you’ve got a face full of tears and snot, how am I supposed to kiss you?" He half-joked, half-soothed.
At this, the woman in his arms grabbed a corner of the blanket and began furiously wiping at her face.
Gu Shaocheng usually found such sloppy behavior intolerable.
Just as he was about to reprimand her, Chenxing put her lips to his, and the sweetness of her initiative took precedent over any cleanliness issues. He cradled her face, returning her kiss. It wasn’t passionate, but soft and gentle. Yet when her lips parted, she was the one who initiated further contact by sliding her tongue into his mouth.
It was a kind of initiative he had never seen before.
So much so that it stunned Gu Shaocheng.
The next mont, Chenxing surprised him again by climbing on top of him, proceeding to kiss him fiercely while on top.
"Why are you so eager?"
He asked with a chuckle, gladly accepting her rare ardor.
Hand tangled in her hair, his voice was hoarse with joy, "Just a few days asleep and I wake up to a little seductress. I can’t keep up..."
"Not a few days, it’s been twenty-eight days!" Chenxing wasn’t bothered by any potential loss of composure, kissing him while correcting him, matching the passion she was showing with her fear of those twenty-eight days.
[Like Gu Shaocheng, a dear friend of mine is in a similar situation. Yet, while Gu Shaocheng is awake my friend is still unconscious. She had a fall during the Lantern Festival and has been unconscious for over a month with no signs of waking. I suddenly want to be able to have a magic pen, so that when I’d write ’awake’, she’d wake up. Life is unpredictable, people are truly fragile. I hope everyone takes care of themselves.]
