Her throat felt sour and uncomfortable with sothing stuck inside. She stared at the picture, her lips trembling with overwhelming resentnt. Ye Chenxing, why?
Why could she monopolize all his affection, when she was nothing but a disreputable woman who had never made any sacrifices for him?
She could not make sense of it, nor could she swallow her pride, yet she could do nothing about it.
As the banquet began, all the seats were filled. At the grand celebration with fifty tables, Buyu, the son of Gu Buyu, elegantly held up his wine glass:
"Dear friends and relatives, and all the guests who have traveled long distances to join this banquet:
Thank you very much for gathering here tonight. On behalf of my father, I express my deep appreciation and warm welco to all the guests attending the banquet. For this first toast, I propose that we all raise our glasses to wish our Gu Family everlasting prosperity, for generations to co!"
Everyone stood up and drank together.
Gu Shaocheng took the wine glass from Chenxing’s hand and drained both glasses. She pursed her lips as soone nearby joked, "Shaocheng, it’s just a glass of wine, and yet you insist on doing it yourself. That’s not necessary."
He laughed benignly but with an undeniable intimidating power, "I never allow won to drink alcohol."
Not to ntion the first glass, even the second and the third were drained by him. After the opening lines and three clear glasses of wine, the banquet officially began.
Honestly, banquets were always so boring, a chain of endless eating and drinking.
At their table, there were only two won: the wife of Gu Buyu and her.
Chenxing sat quietly next to him. Most of the n at the table were elders. Even if they were curious, they wouldn’t show it openly, and they chatted away cordially. Not many people paid attention to her, so Chenxing just drank her beverage and ate small dishes.
Mrs. Gu, wife of Gu Buyu, seeing Chenxing’s caution, smiled and told her, "Young girl, don’t be so restrained. Help yourself to whatever you like."
"Thank you, auntie."
Gu Shaocheng laughed while patting her head, "You can’t even address people properly. You should call her ’auntie’."
As soon as he finished speaking, so people looked at them with amusent and so faces darkened. Mrs. Gu laughed heartily: "Shaocheng, we’ve been sitting here all this ti, and you haven’t introduced her. That’s your fault. What’s the young girl’s na?"
"Thank you, auntie. I’m Chenxing. If you flip ’star and galaxy’ around, it’s my na." Chenxing gave a slight smile, pursing her lips as she found everyone’s attention back on her. She took a deep breath, sotto voce.
"So, your na is Chenxing. Co on, Chenxing, whatever you like, auntie will help you get it."

"Don’t be so polite. Why are you acting like a stranger with ?" As she spoke, Mrs. Gu put so food into Chenxing’s bowl, then laughed, "Such a lovely girl at the first sight. Why have I never seen you before? Are you his little sister? Shaocheng, you guys always do this. You should bring your sister out more often. She looks a bit stage-shocked, don’t be nervous, just ignore these n. Let’s won eat freely..."
"She is a bit timid," Gu Shaocheng said lazily, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, "she’s still a kid."
Chenxing looked up blankly. She wanted to say I’m not his sister, I’m his girlfriend, but seeing Shaocheng didn’t correct it, she struggled internally and swallowed her words eventually.
