He pulled out a pack of hamburgers from his bag, munching it while tuning the radio to the traffic news. The phone rang. It was his mother. It was the third call he’d taken from her without showing any sign of annoyance, "Mom, I’m almost ho. I’ll be there in about two hours. Don’t wait for . Go ahead and eat."
After ending the call, he exhaled loudly and continued chewing on his hamburger and drinking mineral water.
If he had known he wasn’t going to be driving, he would have taken his brother’s helicopter, which would have gotten him ho ahead of ti. But that would have been too high-profile. If his old man found out he had taken a helicopter, he would surely get a good scolding, if not a good thrashing.
