Chenxing was sipping from a large coconut, gazing at the sapphire-like seawater. She turned and glanced at Gu Shaocheng on the lounge chair beside her.
With his sunglasses on, he bathed in the setting sun, looking like a lazy lion.
Chenxing craned her neck to discover that he was actually playing Match-3, which ca as quite a surprise to her.
The corner of Gu Shaocheng’s mouth twitched, "What are you looking at?"
"Why are you playing this ga?"
"Do I not have the right to?"
Of course, he did. It was just that she found it sowhat disillusioning to see such a grown man engrossed in a ga like Match-3.
Chenxing tightly pursed her lips, drew back her head, and continued drinking her coconut juice.
Gu Shaocheng gave a soft chuckle and continued with his mobile ga.
However, was he really just playing a ga? His mind was teeming with countless thoughts, tangled and chaotic.
Were it not for the sunglasses concealing his eyes, the uncontrollable emotions might have been bared under the setting sun.
The water villa on Paradise Island was outfitted with advanced facilities – luxurious and romantic. It had a mini living room, a storeroom, a bedroom, a balcony... At that mont, they were lying on lounge chairs on the balcony. From the balcony, a small wooden staircase led directly to the sea where one could go swimming or snorkeling.
Gu Shaocheng stared at the ebb and flow of the tide, racked his brains to ponder the thought of himself in three to five years. Would he just be lying there, unable to move or walk, even needing a feeding tube inserted through his nostrils to eat?
By then, his body would have withered away to a freakish extent.
As his illness lingered, could he still command as he used to? Among those devoted followers, who would be willing to stay by his side until the end?
Mulling these thoughts over, he couldn’t help but smirk cynically. There probably wouldn’t be many who would.
If news of his illness was to leak to the Gu Family, it would surely cause an uproar, followed by a power struggle. The bloody scene in the struggle for control of the Gu Family was already beginning to form before his eyes.
"Chenxing." Lost in concern, he inevitably called out her na.
"Hmm?" Chenxing responded quickly.
"Co here."
"What for?"
"Hold ..." he said, feeling cold.
Chenxing knew nothing of the chill in his heart, attributing his demand to a man’s moodiness. She pouted her lips, "No!" and even turned her back to him.
In her heart, she humphed: Bad guy, definitely trying to take advantage of again.
She definitely wouldn’t foolishly walk into the mouth of the tiger.
But Gu Shaocheng’s intention was hardly moodiness. He was imrsed in an unprecedented maelstrom, on the cusp of being devoured by brutal reality. The chill seeped into every capillary throughout his body, making him feel as if he was in an ice cellar.
He lifted her and placed her on top of him. Chenxing pouted, balking at this form of protest, curling herself up and giggling as she tried to dodge him.
The next second, he pinned her against his chest. Gu Shaocheng gripped her chin. Before Chenxing could react, he gently rubbed his forehead against hers.
The sunglasses on his nose knocked against Chenxing’s face.
A small protest escaped her lips. She initiated to remove his sunglasses, "The sunlight isn’t even glaring, why would you need sunglasses?" Attitude!
"Kiss ."
Gu Shaocheng didn’t answer her question. Instead, he held her hand, gazing at her eyes with an almost imperceptible plea. He hoped that the soft body on him could dispel the chills he was feeling in that mont.
