Chenxing lay on the balcony and said regretfully, "Are we still going to the class reunion? It’s tomorrow afternoon, right?"
Gu Shaocheng had long forgotten about this trivial matter and, upon hearing her reminder, he drawled a long "Oh." Then, after a pause, he added regretfully, "I might not be able to squeeze out the ti."
"Oh, then never mind, I’ll go by myself."
"Don’t wander around lately, just stay peacefully in the sanatorium." He had already secured the sanatorium so that not a drop could leak through, but with the Gu Family’s big moves, it was inevitable that so would get ideas about the sanatorium.
After a mont of thought, Gu Shaocheng said, "Once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll have a party at ho and invite your high school friends over to play."
Having made his decision, Chenxing naturally couldn’t object.
After stowing away her phone, Chenxing headed downstairs for dinner as Gu Shaocheng had finished his al at the table alongside Bai Wuqing and Nan Baihao. After dinner, the three of them entered the study.
Nan Baihao was seething with a murderous aura, "Brother, we’ve caught nearly all the informants we found, a total of 17 people. I don’t know if we’ve completely cleared all the spies this ti!"
Bai Wuqing, elegant as he moved his chess pieces, continued the unfinished ga from before dinner with Gu Shaocheng, playing Go. He held a white piece, pondered for three seconds, and placed it, "It should be mostly clean. Those people should know to hold back a bit now."
Gu Shaocheng’s lips curled into a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, "Just rattling the mountains to scare the tiger."
Chenxing waited a while but didn’t get a WeChat ssage. She pursed her lips and went downstairs to prepare for dinner.
At the dinner table, it was only her and her mother, who couldn’t take care of herself and needed to be fed by soone else. The nurse who had taken care of her mother for many years went to feed her, but Chenxing smiled and thanked her, shaking her head, "I’ll do it!"
After dinner, Chenxing still wanted to go out. She needed to shop for so daily necessities, but Shaocheng had said not to wander around recently. After thinking it over, she sought out Fei, who was often wandering around like a ghost.
To her surprise, Fei was voraciously devouring a book under a streetlight. Upon seeing her, he surreptitiously hid the book behind him. Having beco quite familiar with Fei over these days, she teased him, "Fei, what book are you hiding?"
"Nothing," Fei said, sidestepping the topic as he stood up straight, "Miss Chen Xing, did you need ?"
"Yeah, I want to go out and buy so stuff. Can you drive there?"
"What does Miss Chen Xing need to buy?"
"Uh, it’s girl stuff." Chenxing’s face turned slightly red. Her bra had broken, and she wanted to buy two new ones. It wasn’t fitting to ask soone else to buy them for her, so she wanted to go to the mall herself.
Fei looked at her and nodded, "I’ll have soone prepare the car."
While waiting for the car, Fei unconsciously picked up his book to read due to boredom. Chenxing leaned in, surprised, "Brother Fei, you’re still reading such profound physics books?"
"Hmm, have an exam coming up soon. Have to study hard."
"...Brother Fei, you’re still in school?"
Fei was rather helpless; all the personal guards under their employers were required to have at least a graduate degree. He was in his second year of graduate school, attending a correspondence program at a key university. He could only attend a few classes when he had a shift swap with others; mainly, he had to rely on self-study. However, he had to achieve excellent grades on his exams, or else he’d be waiting to be kicked out of the ranks of the personal guards.
The rigid rule set by the employers was incredibly strict. He couldn’t understand why a bodyguard needed such high qualifications, but it was a firm requirent. Sighing, he just had to grit his teeth and keep studying intensely.
