He tiptoed out, sighing a breath of relief upon exiting the gate, and the next second his whole being perked up, slipping away like oil underfoot.

What answered them was a back that was gradually receding into the distance.

Instantly, Tian Buyu blurted out, "There will definitely be results."
Gu Shaocheng glanced at his expression and paused in silence, "Maybe."
Leaving the research institute and going back through the small gate to the east garden, he leaned against the wall, coldly facing the world. Light and shadow split him in two—the left half bathed in sunlight, the right half concealed in darkness, much like his current mindset, half hopeful, half despairing.
Bai Wuqing’s call ca through, his voice overflowing with joy from the other end of the phone, "Shaocheng, congratulate , Jingru and I just got our marriage certificate, we’re holding the wedding on May 21. Be my best man, Jingru asked to see if Chenxing would like to be her bridesmaid."
"May 21? Isn’t that the week after next? That’s too soon, isn’t it?"
When one is joyful, spirits are high; Bai Wuqing wished he could get married tomorrow, so speed was the last of his concerns.
Now that he and Jingru were living together, there was always a little rascal at ho with a stern face telling him, no sleeping with his mommy until they were married—the taste of being bossed around by his son was genuinely uncomfortable; Bai Wuqing thought with a low chuckle, "That’s my big day, I don’t want to miss it, clear up next weekend. Gu Shaocheng responded, his smile genuine, "Okay, congratulations."
After hanging up, he was all tickled by the news of his brother getting married.
Marriage, such a wonderful word.
His mind automatically conjured an image: Chenxing in a beautiful wedding dress, him holding her hand under the wedding march, exchanging rings in front of family and friends, declaring through sickness and in health, for better, for worse, forever and ever.
Unexpectedly, a strong impulse to get married surged in his heart.
But his illness...
A bucket of cold water poured down over his head, and Gu Shaocheng gave a bitter smile.

"Really? Sister Jingru and Brother Wuqing are getting married? And they’re asking us to be the best man and bridesmaid?
