Chenxing laughed heartily.
Gu Shaocheng stretched out his hand to wrap around her waist, holding her tightly. Hearing her laughter, he cursively cursed, "You little rascal! On purpose, huh?"
"Who would have thought that a big man like you would be so afraid of holding a baby? Don’t you really like children?" Chenxing grinned, feeling the arm wrapped around her as an unshakable support that emitted a warm aura. She nestled slightly into his embrace, invisibly feeling a strong sense of reliability and safety.
Outside, the hail of bullets seed far removed from her vision; at this mont, she suddenly felt a sense of warmth.
She held the baby, Shaocheng hugged her, and the two quietly gazed at this new little life that had just entered the world.
Gu Shaocheng pursed his lips: "It’s not that I’m scared to hold him, I’m scared of hurting him."
Little Wubai seed so frail that he always felt only a woman’s soft hands could ensure the baby wouldn’t get hurt. As for himself, a small careless act might end the baby’s life.
"Babies aren’t that fragile, actually. His life is very resilient; he was premature by two months. Just now, I was scared to death, afraid he wouldn’t be healthy," Chenxing raised her head, her heart still racing as she glanced at him, "This baby faced so many hurdles right from birth, but he robustly made his way out of Huanhuan’s belly. I believe he’ll be a strong child in the future."
"Nonsense, my nephew, how could he be weak?"
Gu Shaocheng actually adored this child very much, partly for the reason Chenxing said; a child born amidst gunfire is destined not to be ordinary.
Though he dared not hold the baby directly, he couldn’t help but support Chenxing’s arm, thus holding the baby indirectly which made him feel much more at ease.
"I wonder what na Huanhuan and Brother Baihao will give him."
"Wubai," Gu Shaocheng blurted out.
Chenxing snorted with laughter: "Can you not make jokes like that?"
Gu Shaocheng himself also laughed: "It’s just a habit."
"Sir, Young Mr. Nan and his group seem to have caught up," interrupted a bodyguard from the back seat, "The people behind us should have been eliminated."
Gu Shaocheng humd in response, hardly worried about the dangers outside, all his worries were for Huanhuan and Little Wubai, "Crimson Shadow, stop the car, let’s wait here for Baihao."
If Baihao doesn’t see Huanhuan and Wubai soon, he could lose his mind!
True to his word, in less than three minutes, the mont the car door opened, the sll of gunpowder filled the air.
Nan Baihao’s bloodshot eyes teed with veins as he entered the car and roared, "Huanhuan, how is Huanhuan?"
Gu Shaocheng pulled Chenxing aside to make space, Nan Baihao with blood-red eyes stared at the unconscious Huanhuan, his voice trembling with agony as he held her tightly on his laps, "Brother, Huanhuan... Huanhuan she..."
"It’s okay, she just fainted," Gu Shaocheng said.
Chenxing added, "We still need to get to the hospital quickly, and the baby needs a full check-up too."
Nan Baihao shouted at the driver: "What are you waiting for? Drive, to the hospital!"
Only then did he notice the little baby in Chenxing’s hands, his eyes twitched violently, Chenxing handed the baby over proactively, "It’s a boy, he should be healthy, but we need to take him to the hospital for a doctor to confirm."
"Is he... my... son?"
