###Chapter 5: Is It Because I Didn’t Satisfy You Last Night?

In the past, she wouldn’t have dared to provoke Zachary Hawthorne when he looked like this. She knew his anger was about to erupt. But now that she had decided to let him go, why should she care? The first step was to stop constantly gauging his mood.

Nina Wainwright wasn’t the kind of beauty who stunned you at first glance, but she was undeniably pretty, with arched brows, bright eyes, a beauty mark beneath one of them, a high-bridged, delicate nose, and beautiful lips.

She gave off an air of being both soft and stubborn.

But right now, all that stubbornness was directed at him, and Zachary Hawthorne could see the seriousness in her eyes.

’She really wants to divorce !’

’But...how could that be?’

’This marriage was sothing her family sched to get.’

"Divorce , Nina Wainwright? Do you have the heart? Even if you do, what about your family?"

Nina Wainwright had expected Zachary Hawthorne to hurt her, just not like this. His words all but spelled out that her family had sold her to him.

Nina Wainwright’s face drained of color. "You don’t need to trouble yourself with that, Mr. Hawthorne. All you need to know is that I want a divorce."

After saying this, Nina Wainwright reached out and shoved Zachary Hawthorne. Caught off guard, he stumbled back. He watched her walk toward the large bed, then tugged at his collar, undoing the top three buttons to reveal a muscular chest. He started walking toward her as well.

"What, you want so?"

He assud that by walking to the bed, Nina Wainwright was implying sothing, and he certainly didn’t mind teasing her a bit.

In public, the man presented a cold, aloof, and dignified front. But at ho, once he shed that facade, he was, at his core, utterly brazen.

It was an arrogance that stemd from his privileged upbringing.

"These are the divorce papers. I’ve already printed them out and signed them. Take a look. If there are no issues, just sign them. I’m willing to leave with nothing."

Zachary Hawthorne’s tall fra was just about to close in on her when, unexpectedly, a few thin sheets of paper were pressed against his chest.

So that’s why Nina Wainwright had walked to the bed—to get the divorce papers from the nightstand.

She had originally planned to leave them here for Zachary Hawthorne to sign since he hadn’t been back yet. But now that he was here, it was even better. ’Sign them, and let’s get this over with.’

Nina Wainwright’s expression was placid. His gaze drifted from the top of her head down to the papers she was holding against his chest, and a storm nearly broke loose inside him.

"Divorce papers? Leaving with nothing?"

Zachary Hawthorne understood every word the woman said, but when put together, the aning was almost incomprehensible to him.

’How dare she!’

’To actually have the nerve to draw up divorce papers.’

"Nina Wainwright, have I been spoiling you too much?"

Zachary Hawthorne said icily, but his mind was suddenly flooded with the images Silas Sinclair had sent him not long ago—of Nina with a doctor in a hospital room.

A mont ago, he had been worried about the implications of her being there. But now, thinking back, she and that man had seed rather close. They didn’t look like it was just a doctor-patient relationship.

’So, she has another man?’

"Who is he?"

"What?"

"The man at the hospital. You were there to see him?"

"Zachary Hawthorne, are you out of your mind!"

At first, Nina Wainwright didn’t understand what Zachary Hawthorne was saying. But as he continued, she realized he must have had her investigated and seen her with Adrian. That’s why he was saying this.

’How could he insult like this!’

’He’s the one who cheated, and now he thinks I’m having an affair?’

"Zachary Hawthorne, don’t you dare turn this around on !"

"You should be thanking for being so magnanimous. You’re the one who cheated. It would be easy for to fight for your assets, but I chose to leave with nothing."

"You can try."

"Zachary Hawthorne!"

"Or is it that you want a divorce because I left for Luna last night and didn’t satisfy you?"

"Get out! You’re shaless!"

The man’s words made Nina Wainwright’s heart race with anger.

Zachary Hawthorne looked down at the woman before him. "If you want it, just say the word. You think your husband can’t satisfy you?"

He reached out, shoved Nina Wainwright onto the bed, and his tall fra followed, pressing down on top of her.

Nina Wainwright lay beneath him. A position like this should have made her blush, her heart pound with excitent. But for Nina, right now, there was only endless humiliation.

"I don’t want this."

"Well, I do."

In truth, Zachary Hawthorne hadn’t really been in the mood, but she had pissed him off.

Ever since they’d married, she had been completely obedient to him, even in bed.

n could be adventurous in bed, and while Nina Wainwright was twenty-four, she’d only ever been with Zachary Hawthorne and was, by nature, sexually conservative. But to please him, she went along with whatever he wanted.

Sotis, he would press her against the window in their room.

The window in their room had originally been transparent, visible from both inside and out. But later, because Zachary Hawthorne wanted a thrill, he’d had it replaced.

But even then, Nina Wainwright was mortified. She knew no one outside could see in, but they could see out with perfect clarity.

Sotis, he would take her against the glass. Her pale skin would be distorted by the pressure from his body and the window, a sight he adored. His long, slender fingers would grip her narrow waist, pressing harder, even as servants ca and went on the floor below.

The re thought of those scenes made Zachary Hawthorne’s blood run hot. Twenty-eight was, after all, the pri age for a man.

Before, as long as Zachary Hawthorne wasn’t on a business trip, working late, or at a social engagent, they had sex almost every day they were both at ho.

Besides, they had been interrupted last night.

As Zachary Hawthorne’s large fra pressed down on Nina Wainwright, his desire stirred. He propped himself up slightly, and his long fingers hooked under the hem of her sweater.

She was wearing a white, crew-neck sweater with a small floral pattern. The hem wasn’t long, and in their earlier scuffle, it had already ridden up, revealing a hint of what was underneath.

Nina Wainwright certainly had the figure for it.

She was five-foot-six and perfectly proportioned, with incredibly long legs that were utterly captivating whenever they were wrapped around him.

The curves above her slender waist were just as beautiful, her skin pale where it should be pale, and pink where it should be pink.

Zachary Hawthorne’s hand slid underneath, moving up to cup her breast.

"No, don’t..."

Nina Wainwright couldn’t believe Zachary Hawthorne could get aroused so suddenly. Weren’t they just talking about divorce?

’Besides, last night he left to go to Luna Sterling. Didn’t she satisfy him?’

"Zachary Hawthorne, we’re getting a divorce!"

Nina Wainwright reminded him, trying to bring him to his senses.

The man’s body settled over hers, his lips pressing against her neck and trailing wet kisses upward. "Divorce? Did I agree to that?"

"Nina, as long as I haven’t signed those papers, you’re still my wife. And us sleeping together is perfectly legal."

"Ah..."

He knew her weak spots all too well.

Nina Wainwright’s biggest weaknesses were his kisses on her neck and behind her ear. Those two spots never failed to send a tingling shiver straight down her spine.

And what’s more, he had called her Nina.

In all her mory, he had almost never called her that.

Nina Wainwright’s eyes reddened. She was starting to feel it.

Nina Wainwright was disgusted with herself. In her heart, she was done with him, but her body couldn’t resist his seduction.

Zachary Hawthorne wasn’t much better off than Nina Wainwright. He had long since beco lost in his desire for her, and he was already so hard it ached.

But then his gaze shifted, landing on her hand dangling over the side of the bed. She was clearly aroused, yet she was still clutching those worthless pieces of paper. A flash of displeasure crossed his eyes.

He reached out, snatched the papers from her hand, and ripped them to shreds in a few quick motions.

"Zachary Hawthorne, you-!"

Nina Wainwright’s eyes flew wide.

The man’s lips crashed down on hers at that exact mont. "Nina, want a divorce? Dream on!"
