Mizuo said confidently.
"Incredible! He pulled off so much in just one turn!"
The watching freshn were stunned by the dazzling series of Fusions.
"This should lead to massive damage!"
Chazz's brows furrowed. "Even if he deals a lot of damage, so what?"
He didn't quite get it. "If he can't finish the duel this turn, and he's out of cards, how is he supposed to go toe-to-toe with Hikaru in a drawn-out battle?"
"Those two monsters likely have special abilities," Bastion speculated. "He's probably aiming to finish Hikaru this turn and deny him any chance to fight back."
"This turn? Is that even possible?" Alexis asked, puzzled.
"Frightfur Bear has the effect to equip the monster it destroyed by battle and gain 1000 Attack. As for Frightfur Wolf, it can attack multiple tis depending on how many Fusion Materials were used."
Hikaru spoke up, perhaps to explain to Tierra, or perhaps to join the discussion. "If the attacks go through, I won't have enough LP left for another turn."
"W-What!? It has that kind of effect!?" Chazz sat upright in shock.
'Multi-attacks? That was like Chiratech Overdragon, maybe even stronger in so ways!'
"That's right!" Mizuo pumped his fist in excitent as the Polyrization Club mbers behind him burst into cheers.
Could it be? Could this be the day?
Today, would the Polyrization Club finally defeat the nightmare that haunted them all year, Amagi Hikaru?
The freshn's jaws dropped as they stared in shock.
Could it be, even before the sester officially began, there was already huge news?
Mizuo took a deep breath.
Hikaru had always been near-omniscient when it ca to Fusion and card effects. That's why Mizuo had deliberately let him take the first turn.
Because Hikaru's openings were fairly predictable: either Gem-Knight Aquamarine or a test-run with Fla Swordsman.
Today was a little different, but still within his expectations.
He knew Hikaru understood Fusion better than anyone, so he couldn't afford to go first and let Hikaru learn about his strategy. As long as he kept it hidden, he could use this surprise tactic to "steal" a win!
A once-in-a-lifeti chance!
There might never be another!
"Battle! Frightfur Bear attacks Santa Claws!"
The bear rushed forward and shattered Santa Claws with a single punch.

"Now, Frightfur Bear's effect activates! It equips the destroyed Santa Claws and gains 1000 ATK!"

"Whoa! That's higher than Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
"That's not the real problem! That next direct attack."
All eyes were locked onto the field.
"Battle! Frightfur Wolf attacks directly!"
The wolf charged, blood-red eyes locked onto Hikaru, and struck down hard, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Everyone craned their necks to catch this pivotal mont.
Was the Polyrization Club about to achieve their long-awaited triumph?
Or had Hikaru endured?
As the dust began to clear, all eyes focused intently, and then...

"?!"
Mizuo froze. Students and teachers alike stared blankly.
Why… why hadn't his Life Points changed?
Then Mizuo noticed the sudden appearance of a female figure on Hikaru's field.
A pale, blonde girl holding a black parasol, frail and elegant like a noble shut-in lady.
"Ah, it's the Fraulein."
"Yeah, it's the Fraulein."
"Oh, it's her. No wonder."
Chazz, Bastion, and Alexis imdiately recognized the projection on Hikaru's field.
During last year's Shadow Rider incident, both Hikaru and Zane had been tornted by this card. Back then, they only won thanks to Chiratech Overdragon.

"I Special Summoned her when your Frightfur Wolf declared its attack."
A card he'd never seen before!
Mizuo was stunned. More importantly, he noticed that veterans like Chazz and the rest of the Fusion Club clearly recognized this card!
"2000 DEF... what a sha. If Senpai had attacked with the Bear first, he could've won." A Polyrization Club student couldn't help but comnt.
"Attacked with Frightfur Bear?" Chazz shook his head. "Vampire Fraulein can pay LP to boost its ATK and DEF up to 3000 points!"
Even a doubled-up Bear couldn't break through!
Mizuo's eyes widened.
If that was true, then his attack could never have succeeded!
"Wait... is that a Fusion too?"
"It must be. If Hikaru has it in his Deck."
"Anyway, it looks amazing."
Fusion Club students who'd been holding their breath finally relaxed. Naturally, they were now curious: what could this monster fuse into?
"Incredible, Hikaru!" Mizuo exhaled deeply, yet he wasn't upset. If anything, he looked more fired up.
Hikaru chuckled. "Your understanding of and your tactical insight were spot-on. You're far more 'Fused' than any of the previous Polyrization Club duelists."
"Of course! Only by getting stronger can we defeat you!" Mizuo said passionately.
"Then this is my answer!" Hikaru drew a card. "As a Fusionist, I must evolve constantly and endlessly. Only then can we reach the pinnacle of Fusion!
"If your progress over the break was a ten, then I aim for twenty, thirty, even beyond a hundred, that's what true evolution ans!
"Your understanding of is still rooted in the past. But now;
"I activate the Spell Card: Ghost Fusion!"
'Ghost Fusion!?'
"It sounds like 'Polyrization' and originally ant a lady's private chamber," Bastion helpfully said, though it was of questionable relevance and aning.
"This card lets Fusion Summon using a Zombie monster on my field and one Zombie in my Deck!" Hikaru revealed his card. "I send Vampire Fraulein from my field to the Graveyard and banish Vampire Vamp from my Deck to Fusion Summon!"
"Wait, those two can fuse!?" Chazz shouted in disbelief.
'Why hasn't he used this before!?'
"Fusion Materials: two Zombie monsters!"
Hikaru raised both arms, clapped, and then brought them down:
"With the souls of two dead ones, I summon the dragon of the Netherworld!
"Break open the gates of the underworld!
"Fusion Summon!
"Level 8: Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon!"
A Duel Dragon made its dazzling entrance!

The underworld dragon let out a sky-shaking roar, clearly enjoying the world it had been summoned into.
"3000 Attack!"
"Sa as Blue-Eyes! What a cool dragon!"
It looked like a mix of demon, skeleton, and dragon, a true villainous beauty.
"Battle! Dragonecro, Attack Frightfur Wolf!"
The dragon swung its tail, slamming the wolf.

"?" Mizuo noticed that although his Frightfur Wolf had been struck, it wasn't destroyed.
"Dragonecro's effect: the monster it battles isn't destroyed during that battle!"
"...Weird effect."
"But after the Damage Step, that monster's ATK becos 0, and I Special Summon a Dark Soul Token with the exact sa ATK, DEF, Attribute, Type, and Level!"
"Huh!?"
Mizuo's eyes went wide.
'Wait.'
'That's 2000 Attack, right!?'
That ans he just did exactly what Mizuo tried to do with Frightfur Wolf, a direct hit!
To execute his "finishing tactic," Mizuo had used up every last resource. He had no way to defend himself now.
He thought that even if he didn't win, he could at least give Hikaru so trouble.
Still, to lose so cleanly, so decisively...
And yet, he couldn't help but laugh.
This...this was the Amagi Hikaru he wanted to challenge!
His pace of evolution truly was beyond his own!
