“High Mountain Flowing Water” poured out like waterfalls and springs, and the grandeur inherent in the music was akin to his physical state at that moment, seemingly unrelated to everything around him.
Because he trusted his partners, trusted his brothers.
Emperor Zi did not disappoint Ye Yinzhu, not ever.
So, when Ye Yinzhu had just faced the cold threat, the majestic amethyst figure had already stood before him.
Facing the Polar Ice Demon Ape, Emperor Zi’s figure seemed much smaller, but his imposing aura dominated that of the ape’s.
Emperor Zi’s light expanded almost instantly, without a roar, for the enemy in front did not deserve the wrath of the nobility of Amethyst.
The body, swelling at a terrifying speed, surpassed twenty meters in height in the blink of an eye.
The thirteen-meter Amethyst Great Sword, with a fan-like dazzling purple light, swung down through the air, soundlessly despite its enormous size.
The ice cones paused, for they lost their propelling power, a line of purple light appeared at the center of the ice cone, stretching from tip to tail.
With a loud bang, they disintegrated back into ice elements and dissipated into the air.
A line of blood stretched from the forehead of the Polar Ice Demon Ape down to its belly.
Its body went pletely rigid because it dared not and could not move.
Faced with the Amethyst Behemoth, it wasn’t just lesser beings like itself, who had just advanced to Lower rank Nine Demon Beasts, but even higher beings like the Golden Behemoth and Snow Spirit You Ming would have to submit!
The Amethyst Great Sword did not cleave the body of the Polar Ice Demon Ape.
The massive blade was held in Emperor Zi’s hand, light as if it were a piece of straw, seemingly weightless.
The tip of the sword rested on the chest of the ape as Emperor Zi, with his true appearance and a voice deep and manding, said, “Submit, or die.”
Amid the snow and ice, the Amethyst Great Sword radiated a regal brilliance, belonging only to the Amethyst Behemoth.
Its overwhelming pressure caused the red light in the eyes of the Polar Ice Demon Ape to gradually fade, and its rage cooled instantly as if doused with cold water.
It wanted to resist, to fight desperately, but having lived for over a hundred years and suffered through numerous hardships to reach its current level, it did not wish to die.
Especially in the presence of the Amethyst Behemoth’s pressure, even the desire to choose death couldn’t arise.
Panicked eyes wide, the Polar Ice Demon Ape opened its mouth, and a dark blue flame drifted out.
That wasn’t an actual flame, but the Soul Fire that a rank Nine Beast would possess.
Magical Beasts themselves could not make contracts with other Magical Beasts, but they could use other methods to collect subordinates, though this was a capability reserved for Wisdom-type Demon Beasts.
The sacrifice of Soul Fire, however, was the cruelest way for one Magical Beast to submit to another.
Once the Soul Fire was sacrificed to another, for the rest of its life, it would be controlled, without even a hint of betraying thoughts arising.
It could only serve as the most loyal subordinate.
Rare were the Magical Beasts that chose to sacrifice, preferring death over having their soul stripped away.
But in the face of the Amethyst Behemoth’s pressure, the Polar Ice Demon Ape had no choice but to offer its most precious possession.
Emperor Zi opened his mouth and inhaled, drawing the Soul Fire of the Polar Ice Demon Ape into himself.
With a flash of purple light and the disappearance of the Amethyst Great Sword, Emperor Zi’s body once more took on a human form.
Though his face turned somewhat pale, he still stood with imposing stature.
“Had it not been for the fact that you have three brothers, you wouldn’t even have the privilege to sacrifice to me,” said the proud Amethyst Behemoth, who took no weaklings as subordinates.
He did not accept a Soul Sacrifice even from higher rank Nine Demon Beasts like the Golden Behemoth, respecting them as of the same kind and absolutely loyal to him.
The music from the zither ceased.
Ye Yinzhu put away the Cascade Pearl Beads Zither and stood beside Emperor Zi, giving him an inquiring look.
He knew that Emperor Zi’s power was not yet sufficient to manifest his true form, and even with the boost from “High Mountain Flowing Water”, it wasn’t enough to support the energy drain from the sword swing earlier.
He vividly remembered the condition Emperor Zi had been in the last time he took his true form.
“Brother Zi.” An Qi suddenly called out, looking at Emperor Zi with concern, her hands tightly clasping Emperor Zi’s large hand and gently shaking it.
Emperor Zi was indeed very weak at that moment.
Although his strength had increased quite a bit through Yin Zhu’s enhancement and his own cultivation, his strength was not sufficient to sustain his true form as he had just demonstrated.
Otherwise, he would not have needed to revert to his human form so quickly.
Though appearing stable, the energy shortage in his body was severe.
Just then, he felt an extraordinarily pure Elemental Power flowing from An Qi’s hand into his, nourishing his nearly depleted body like ambrosia.
An Qi’s energy was much stronger than he had anticipated, endless like the Yangtze River.
And she deliberately filtered out the Dark Qi from her own energy, transferring only natural energy to him.
With An Qi’s help, Emperor Zi’s somewhat pale plexion immediately improved.
He lifted his other hand to touch An Qi’s head, a smile on his face.
“Brother Zi.” With a soft call, An Qi leaned into Emperor Zi’s embrace, looking content as if she had already sensed his recovery.
Emperor Zi turned to the Polar Ice Demon Ape and said indifferently, “Your two brothers are not yet dead.
Summon them to sacrifice.”
“Yes, respected Emperor Zi,” said the Polar Ice Demon Ape, being docile upon sacrificing its Soul Fire.
It didn’t even have time to tend to the wound the Amethyst Great Sword had inflicted on its body before it hurried off to find its two brothers that Dis had blasted away.
Dis, who had just sustained attacks from two Polar Ice Demon Apes, finally recovered from his opponent’s strikes, exhaled a blue breath, and said, heaving a sigh, “Damn, almost froze me to death.”
“Emperor Zi, I’m afraid Brother Xue is not going to make it.” Ming Hui’s call rang out, startling Ye Yinzhu and Zi.
They noticed that the Snow Dragon Leopard, who had just killed the Hurricane Python King, was now lying on the ground, panting heavily.
With each breath, it spat out a mouthful of blood foam, and the light in its ice-blue eyes had pletely dimmed, turning a dull gray color.
Seeing the Snow Dragon Leopard’s condition, Zi knew his guess was right; its previous burst of energy was nothing more than its final flicker of life.
After all, it had faced the siege of five rank Nine Beasts on its own before the others came to assist!
The fact that it had lasted until now was already incredibly difficult.
Ye Yinzhu and Zi stepped forward together, and Dis also gathered around.
The Ming Hui couple stood beside the Snow Dragon Leopard, attempting to transfer their Elemental Power into its body.
But it seemed to have little effect.
“There’s no need to waste your strength, brother Ming Hui.
I am not going to last much longer,” said the Snow Dragon Leopard, its voice calm and even somewhat excited.
Its dimmed eyes now rested on Zi and Ye Yinzhu.
What struck Ye Yinzhu as strange was that the Snow Dragon Leopard’s voice was female.
“To see the Amethyst Behemoth, the revered figure of our Beastman legends, before I die, is a fort to me.
Emperor Zi, please forgive me for being unable to pay my respects,” said the Snow Dragon Leopard, its lifeless eyes looking surprisingly gentle, losing all its previous arrogance.
Zi shook his head and said, “If I absorb some of your body’s energy and then reshape you, perhaps I could save your life.”
The Snow Dragon Leopard’s eyes brightened for a moment, but then quickly dimmed again.
“Are you talking about rank reduction through resurrection?
No, I don’t want to bee a Low-rank magical beast.
Even in death, I want to maintain the dignity of a Wisdom-type Demon Beast.”
The Amethyst Behemoth possessed a special ability called rank reduction through resurrection.
This ability was mainly used to save subordinates but was seldom employed.
When a powerful Magical Beast was on the brink of death, this method was used to first absorb the beast’s energy, remove the Dark Qi from it, and then assist the beast in reshaping its body.
There was a fifty percent chance that the beast would survive.
However, no matter how strong the beast had been before, once it was reshaped, it would be demoted to rank Seven or lower, being a non-Wisdom-type Demon Beast.
Generally, high-ranking Magical Beasts would not choose this option.
They couldn’t bear the pain of tumbling from a higher rank to a lower one and losing their intelligence.
For them, it was an insult greater than death itself.
Zi knew the Snow Dragon Leopard wouldn’t choose such an option and sighed, “If there is anything you need to take care of, perhaps I can help you fulfill some last wishes.
It’s such a pity, you, as a mid-rank Nine Beast, had advanced to a higher rank.
Given more time, you could have bee even stronger.”
Hearing Zi’s words, the Snow Dragon Leopard’s eyes showed a strong sense of gratitude.
Every Magical Beast and Beastman knew that a promise from the Amethyst Behemoth would certainly be kept.
“Emperor Zi, I would entrust my child to you,” said the Snow Dragon Leopard without much hesitation, immediately voicing her last concern.
“A child?
Brother Xue, when did you have a child?” asked Ming Yue in surprise.
The Snow Dragon Leopard’s eyes became slightly embarrassed, “Ming Yue, as you know, the petition among us Magical Beasts within Frosty Forest is extremely fierce.
Especially as one of the Eight Major Guardian Beasts, I couldn’t let others know when I was in a weakened state.
I am sorry, it’s not that I didn’t trust you, it’s just…”
Ming Yue sighed softly, “I understand.
If it were me, I would have made the same choice.
No wonder you seemed slower.
So it was because of your child.”
The Snow Dragon Leopard glanced at the Polar Ice Demon Ape that had already brought back its two brothers, its eyes filled with intense hatred.
But it also knew that since the Polar Ice Demon Ape had performed the Soul Sacrifice to Zi, its own desire for revenge was now impossible.
“I unwittingly revealed a weakness when choosing food for tribute this morning, which gave these bastards their opportunity.
If I were in my prime, how could they have possibly cornered me like this?” The Snow Dragon Leopard’s voice was filled with unwillingness.
Zi said indifferently, “It was your own oversight that determined the oute.
Tell me, how would you like me to help your child?”
