295: Chapter 88: Goblin Laboratory (Part 1)_1 295: Chapter 88: Goblin Laboratory (Part 1)_1 “Special cavalry?” A glint of surprise flashed in Anya’s emerald eyes, “Yin Zhu, I think I get your point now.
We should discuss it further later.
Once we reach our goblin friends, perhaps their designs will inspire even more and better ideas in you.
It seems that you’re not only a genius in playing the zither but also quite knowledgeable in other areas!”
Ye Yinzhu smiled, “All that glitters is not gold.” The precious books stowed in the Imperial Library of the Milan Empire were not read for nothing.
They not only broadened Ye Yinzhu’s horizons but also increased his knowledge in various fields.
With his photographic memory, the things he remembered during that period would be enough for him to absorb over a long period of time.
Under Anya’s guidance, the three of them arrived at a mountain peak.
From Ye Yinzhu’s perspective, all the peaks in the Burna Mountain Range looked more or less the same, covered with various plants and seemingly nothing out of the ordinary.
“Sister Anya, did you say that the Goblin Tribe is in this mountain?” Ye Yinzhu asked with a hint of confusion.
At least from his current position, it seemed that the mountain had no special creatures or the tribe that Anya mentioned.
Anya chuckled, “You’ll see them soon.
Wait a moment.” The instant she finished speaking, her graceful figure took flight.
She ascended into mid-air within the blink of an eye, and the deep dark purple glow emanating from her indicated an increase in strength since the last time they met.
Ye Yinzhu had a slight feeling that this was related to the evolution of the Ancient Tree.
After all, the Life Seed was the survival source of the Elf Tribe.
A clear low humming sound came from Anya.
The penetrating sound immediately echoed in the mountains.
The lingering echo sounded quite pleasant.
Feeling the fluctuation of the echo, Ye Yinzhu had a sudden inspiration.
Echo?
If he applied echo to his Zither Magic, what special effect would it produce?
Echo is also a form of sound!
When music reached Ye Yinzhu’s level, magic could still be improved through the gradual enhancement of spiritual power, but it was pretty difficult to make further progress at the realm level.
Only by breaking new ground could he break through again.
The echo in the mountains presumably provided Ye Yinzhu with new inspiration.
However, before he could explore the thought further, the mountain changed before his eyes.
As a metallic friction sound that wasn’t unpleasant to the ear echoed, Ye Yinzhu and Zi were surprised to see a section of the mountain wall about three meters tall and five meters wide, slowly protruding towards them.
Once it protruded about one meter, it moved sideways to reveal a dark cave.
The movement of the mountain wall was slow and even, and that friction sound didn’t stop until the wall fully moved away.
This bizarre experience filled Ye Yinzhu and Zi’s hearts with astonishment.
Hiding a cave behind a rock wall would not pose a challenge, but to conceal it without leaving any traces on the surface and open it mechanically would indeed surprise anyone.
The huge rock must weigh at least several thousand pounds.
What mechanical force would it take to move it?
The Behemoth Beast could naturally do it, but could the mechanism that opened the stone gate exert a force parable to that of the Behemoth Beast?
Ye Yinzhu, who had been skeptical about the Goblin Laboratory, couldn’t help feeling uncertain.
“Miss Anya is here.
Please e in quickly.” A figure crawled out from the cave.
It appeared strange, about 1.2 meters tall, with a very slim build.
Its clothes fluttered in the wind, and its head looked oversized in parison to its body.
Its pair of big, green eyes stared kindly at Anya in the air.
It was a goblin.
Anya landed at the entrance of the cave, “Hello, Furnace.
Is the elder here?
I brought two friends.”
The goblin called Furnace quickly nodded, “The elder is here.
However, it seems that the guests you brought are not elves.” As he spoke, his somewhat protruding large green eyes looked at Ye Yinzhu and Zi, rolling around, as if wondering about something.
Anya laughed lightly, “Indeed, they aren’t elves.
But one of them is the current owner of the Burna Mountain Range and a good friend of mine.
The other is my brother-in-law, who is considered a foreign elf.
Perhaps you could inform the Elder first if it’s convenient for us to go in.”
As the Elf Queen and a powerful elf, Anya’s words already gave the goblin enough face.
After thinking for a moment, Furnace said, “Since Miss Anya guarantees it, I think the elder won’t blame me.
Please follow me.” As he spoke, he hopped and with a bent waist, led the way into the cave.
Ye Yinzhu and Zi leaped beside Anya, and after she signalled them with her eyes, she took the two of them into the cave.
Just as they entered, they heard the metallic rubbing sound again from behind.
When they turned to look, the huge rock was slowly returning to its original spot.
One could vaguely see some special metallic structures connected to the side of the huge rock, and seemed to be hidden gears inside the mountain.
Anya whispered, “This is just the beginning.
Soon you’ll see how terrifying these goblins’ research can be.”
The cave was dry and well-ventilated, the stone door must have been shut by now, but the air was still circulating freely.
On both sides of the stone walls hung a row of oil lamps that seemed devoid of heat, and yet they emitted brilliant light that illuminated the cave down to every single detail.
It was a mystery what kind of fuel these lamps used.
Goblin Luzi walked rather slow as if his physical strength was not very good.
As they travelled deeper into the cave, it gradually opened up.
The walls looked smooth as a mirror, showing no trace of manual construction.
Curiously, Ye Yinzhu asked, “Is this a natural cave that has been renovated?”
Luzi turned around and glanced at Ye Yinzhu, “No, of course not, we goblins dug it out.
In order to escape the extermination of other races, we had no choice but to construct such a safe space.”
Was it entirely man-made?
By goblins?
It was unimaginable for Ye Yinzhu, given the frail physique of the goblin right in front of him, that they could have pleted such an extraordinary project.
The pathway was sloping downward, the size of each step was incredibly uniform, showcasing how delicate the construction of this place was.
After two hundred meters of travel, the alley opened up into a bright, open space.
The sight in front of them startled both Zi and Ye Yinzhu.
They were standing at one of the entrances to an enormous space, where there were at least ten others just within their sight.
Looking down, it was about a hundred meters to the floor with what seemed to be a village or rather, a city-sized area.
The massive open space was of parable scale with Qin City before it was renovated.
Looking upward, a curved dome about two hundred meters high capped the space.
At the center of the dome came a twenty-meter wide ball of fire, concentrating light and heat onto the city within the mountain.
The houses of the goblins appeared much smaller than human’s, but they were much more delicately crafted.
None of the human residences that Ye Yinzhu had ever seen could be pared to the goblin houses.
The structures were mainly made out of stone and wood, all unique in design and the adjacent rooms systematically connected.
However, the city seemed to be quite deserted with goblins only occasionally spotted from their viewpoint.
“If all of these were constructed by the goblins, they genuinely deserve my admiration,” Zi sincerely mented.
Luzi replied with pride, “These are acplished by the efforts of our goblin kind.
However, this place doesn’t represent the true extent of our wisdom.
Because our greatest achievements aren’t here, but elsewhere.
Dear guests, please follow me.” Saying so, he took a step towards the adjoining stonewall and struck it, prompting a sequence of mechanical response—making Ye Yinzhu and his panions feel the ground shift—whereby their platform slowly descended.
Ye Yinzhu and Zi exchanged gazes, the shock on their faces grew even more intense.
It was an elevator!
And a hundred meters high one at that—not to mention how advanced the construction was—the technology was far beyond their prehension.
Zi remarked, “It’s no wonder people say goblin civilization is the epitome of wisdom.
They are indeed the smartest race on the continent.”
Upon hearing Zi’s pliment, Luzi was visibly thrilled, “Of course!
Our goblin civilization is second to none!
Given enough time, there might not be any race in the world capable of rivaling us.
Unfortunately, our physique restricts us as it takes countless years to turn any of our grand experiments into reality.” When speaking of the limitations of his kind, Luzi grew visibly somber.
Anya chipped in with a smile, “But things are no longer the same, if our cooperation is successful.
I am confident that we can actualize your tribe’s researches.”
Luzi nodded and said, “I hope so.”
As they were talking, the elevator had brought them down into the goblin city.
After they got off, the stone platform gradually rose back to where it had descended from.
Looking from their angle, it seemed as if the mountain itself was moving.
Ye Yinzhu surveyed their surroundings and asked, “Are there not many people in your tribe?”
