303: Chapter 90: The Dwarf’s No.1 Warrior (Part 2)_1 303: Chapter 90: The Dwarf’s No.1 Warrior (Part 2)_1 Monto’s patience was limited.

At least he thought he had given the dwarves enough respect during their two previous exchanges, but these short fellows showed no signs of promise, which ignited anger in the Beastman Marshal.

In the Beastman world, power manded respect.

He could always negotiate after he had shattered their confidence, so with a heavy wave of his right hand, the war the Solomon Tribe had initiated against the dwarf race finally began.

The Wolf riders did not move.

As a mobile military unit, the hilly terrain was not a prime battleground for them.

Ten thousand wolf riders, still divided into ten squads, lurked around the hillside, observing the battlefield situation.

In case any dwarf managed to break through the encirclement and escape, the long knives held by the wolf riders would prove to be the deadliest weapon to stop them.

It was the ten thousand Bearman Heavy Infantry that truly constituted the main force of this battle.

Under the mand of the leaders of various Bearman squads under Monto, the tower shields were raised once again and the Bearman army began their advance.

The pace of the Bearmen was not fast; after all, their bodies were outrageously large, and their equipment possessed a terrifying weight.

However, each step they took caused the hills to quake as if in the throes of an earthquake.

They slowly drew closer to the dwarves, like the impending landslide of Mount Tai.

It was remarkable that the ten thousand low-intelligent Bearmen kept their formation and advanced without any chaos.

No noise was heard, except for the bloodthirsty low murmurs of breathing and the muffled thud of their steps.

The dwarves did not move either.

Though they were known to be rash and easily provoked, it did not mean they lacked wisdom.

They were outnumbered, with three thousand against ten thousand.

Even though the dwarves were known for their strength, they were not arrogant enough to believe they could overpower the Bearmen who were over four meters tall and were brandishing gigantic tower shields.

They chose to hold the high ground while waiting for the Bearmen to attack.

For them, this was the best strategy.

One after another, the hills fell under the feet of the advancing Bearmen.

The pressure built up as the army of ten thousand got closer to the dwarf warriors.

This large-scale battle could easily suffocate anyone.

The Bearmen’s equipment might have appeared crude, but their intrinsic defensive power and formidable strength pensated for this deficiency.

Moreover, they had an excellent mander.

Monto did not advance.

The messenger beside him waved flags constantly, directing the Bearman army as per Monto’s instructions.

The ten thousand Bearman Heavy Infantry soon surrounded the central cluster of five hills and initiated the attack.

“Raise the ballista.” The Dwarf Warrior Rutz suddenly roared in anger.

The neatly formed dwarf soldiers quickly parted.

At this point, the Bearman Heavy Infantry was still three hundred meters away from them.

Upon hearing Rutz’s roar, Monto’s face shifted.

He shouted out quickly, “Accelerate, assault.”

The Bearman soldiers in the front rows immediately began their charge towards the top of the hills.

At the same moment, some strange machines were brought up by the dwarves from the midst of the five hills.

They were a type of special metallic vehicle, equal in length and breadth.

A massive, dimly glowing metal bar laid on the front, followed by a series of plex structures forming a crossbow-like shape at the back.

pared to the crossbows used by humans, these gigantic ballista were massive with a width and length exceeding five meters.

They were brought to the top of the hills only with the effort of six robust Dwarves.

There were wheels beneath the ballista, each supported by eight wheels, and equipped with five metal crossbow arrows, each as thick as a duck’s egg and over three meters long.

The tips of the crossbow arrows shone a faint dark golden glow, revealing that they were cast from an unknown type of metal.

Soon, a hundred ballista were brought to the top of the five hills.

By now, the slow-moving Bearman soldiers were only two hundred meters away from the Dwarf warriors.

The crossbow arrows were strung tightly, their icy, forboding glint magnified under the sunlight, creating a terrifying sight.

The Bearman Heavy Infantry at the front felt a sudden chill and instinctively looked up.

Monto felt a fine layer of cold sweat break out on his back.

He realized that he had underestimated these dwarves.

As the most renowned forging race, how could the dwarves not have some defensive weaponry?

The reason they had not revealted them earlier was to deceive him.

Now that the Bearman army had entered the firing range, it was too late to adjust.

“Raise shields.” Monto managed to shout, but his warning was too late for the Bearman soldiers in the front.

At the same time Rutz swung his icy warhammer, one hundred super ballistas simultaneously unleashed their roar.

Five hundred thick crossbow arrows, exuding an icy chill, launched forth.

Surprisingly, there was no sound of wind when these giant arrows were shot.

Only the bowstrings on the ballista quivered rapidly.

Buzz——

The battle formation of the Bearman Heavy Infantry was so dense that aiming was unnecessary.

With the humming strings of the ballistas, dazzling and tragically beautiful clusters of blood mist already exploded across these hills.

What dazzling sprays of blood!

The tower shields, with their astonishing thickness, were no longer impenetrable in front of these giant ballista-launched crossbow arrows.

The massive crossbow arrows, issuing intense, deafening roars, blew apart the tower shields that met them.

The craftsmanship of the Beastman Clan’s tower shields was really not mendable, even their thickness was inconsistent.

Thick shields were directly shattered into pieces, destroying their bearers with them, while the thinner shields were effortlessly pierced through.

Five hundred crossbow arrows, almost instantly, claimed the lives of hundreds of Bearman Heavy Infantry.

They were like grim reapers from hell, effortlessly claiming those formidable lives.

No matter how strong the bodily defense of the Bearmen, they could not contend with the giant crossbow arrows, crafted from special metals and thick as duck eggs.

Any bearman who was hit had no chance of survival.

At best they were pierced through non-vital parts of their bodies, leaving them without the ability to fight.

Without needing orders from Rutz, the dwarves propelling the chariots busily started to retrieve the next wave of enormous crossbow arrows, slotting them into the ballistas.

It took four Dwarf warriors working together to slowly pull back the giant bowstring fitted with four pulleys on the ballista.

It was mon knowledge that each pulley reduced the required pull force by half.

Yet it still required such an effort, showing how formidable the attacking power of these ballistas truly was.

Monto was swift in his reaction, and his soldiers were elite enough.

Seeing the explosions of blood sprays, his heart actually calmed down.

He felt fortunate, fortunate that he hadn’t underestimated the Dwarves and brought his strongest, most elite Bearman Heavy Infantry for defense.

If he had brought any other main battle unit, he was afraid that all he would see by now would be skewered Beastmen.

Those formidable mega-crossbows could pierce through all armor, and only the tower shields and bodies of the Bearman soldiers could prevent each crossbow arrow from reaching their rades behind them.

“Charge,” Monto’s cold two-word mand marked the start of a new round, and with his approval, ten Behemoth Beasts also embarked on their journey.

Monto, with his many years of bat experience, immediately saw the weaknesses of these ballistas.

Although the ballistas had strong attacking power, the stringing speed was too slow.

The hills were not high, only two to three hundred meters.

Within such a short distance, these ballistas only appeared at the last minute to achieve a surprise effect, leaving him unprepared.

But this also meant that these ballistas could not fire many more rounds.

What’s the use of a powerful weapon of war if it can’t really show its might?

Monto was taken aback, and Rutz, the first warrior of the Dwarf race, was also surprised.

He hadn’t expected the Bearmen’s defenses to be so formidable.

Originally, in his plan, these God piercing ballistas that the dwarves had painstakingly accumulated over countless years, were to take at least several lives with each launch.

Those crossbow arrowheads were mixed with the extremely hard metal known as Steel Mother, with unparalleled piercing power, not even the Dragon Tamers could withstand their impact, these were the Dwarves’ greatest secret weapon.

But these Bearmen and their tower shields were just too robust.

Although the crossbow arrows launched with tremendous force, they often lacked sufficient power after piercing through one Bearman soldier’s body, and were stopped by the shields behind them.

It could be said that the current arrangement of Bearman Heavy Infantry perfectly countered the most excellent performance of the ballistas.

Just as Monto had anticipated, by the time the Bearman Heavy Infantry charged up the slope, the ballistas had only fired twice more.

Although those two rounds took more Bearman lives, causing them to lose more than a thousand before they had even truly engaged the enemy, at least they had closed the distance.

The Dwarves no longer had the opportunity to pull their instruments of slaughter.

Close bat began.

In stark contrast to the Beastman mander, Monto, who was manding battle from the back row, the Dwarf warrior Rutz was the first to meet the Bearman Heavy Infantry.

His body, akin to a cannonball, instantaneously sprung forth, and the huge silver warhammer in his hand, although not remarkable when pared to the size of a Bearman, could only truly be understood by those who actually came into contact with it; the terrifying power these two warhammers possessed.

Like hitting a battering ram, a Bearman soldier’s body under the pounding of a huge hammer, instantly shattered his tower shield.

His enormous body, together with equipment weighing over a thousand pounds!

Was actually blown away by this formidable hammer strike, flung far into the midst of the Heavy Cavalry.

His whole body’s skeletal frame shattered, death was certainly imminent.

After taking down an enemy with one swing, Rutz’s morale soared, he roared to the sky, “Dwarf Warriors, defend our homes, the time to show your men’s strength has e.

Kill.”

The shouts of battle immediately spread to every corner of the five hills, the real close bat had begun.

Before ing here, all Beastman Soldiers had received Monto’s order to capture as many Dwarves alive as possible.

As the battle unfolded, these Bearman Heavy Infantry were inevitably somewhat cautious.

However, the Dwarves didn’t see it that way.

To them, these Beastman Soldiers were vile invaders encroaching on their homes.

Only by absolutely annihilating their enemies could they protect their homeland.(To be continued, if you wish to know how the story progresses, please log onto , where there are more chapters, support the author, support legal reading!)
