553: Chapter 173: No City Undefeated, War Behemoth (Part 1) 553: Chapter 173: No City Undefeated, War Behemoth (Part 1) “After the Raptor Druids’ reconnaissance, it appears there are as many as 150,000 people from the Flore Empire here, although most of them are logistics troops responsible for supplies, but the number is by no means small.
This time, we have caused them significant losses.
Severing Flore’s logistics supply is tantamount to saving East Milan.
Assuming the mission is acplished, exposing ourselves too early would only bring greater resistance to our future operations.
What’s more important is that the Floreans have only seen the Behemoth Beasts and what they believe to be Bear People warriors, the Claw Druids.
If you were the mander of Flore, what would you think?”
Lanqing was stunned for a moment but quickly caught on, “You mean, let the people of Flore believe that the Beastman Clan attacked their supply lines?”
Ye Yinzhu joined the conversation, “It’s winter now, the time when the Beastman Clan is most lacking in food.
Every year at this time, they launch winter raids on the three countries near the Northernmost Wilderness, of which Flore is one of the victims.
I don’t know what methods Landias used to reach an agreement with the Beastman Clan, but after all these years, Flore and the Beastman Clan are enemies.
With the Beastmen’s sudden appearance and their granaries destroyed – those not burned were emptied – panic was bound to spread to the front lines of Flore’s army.
Under these circumstances, even if the Flore royal family’s conviction in this war remained strong, they would have to reallocate some of their elite troops from the front line to protect the interior for the sake of Flore’s safety.
At the same time, having destroyed a large amount of Flore’s provisions and carriages, their army of half a million in front would face a severe supply problem.
Even if it won’t be a devastating blow, it will slow down Flore’s offensive against Milan.”
Mei Clan Master, Mei Rujian, smiled slightly, “A fine case of ‘besieging Wei to rescue Zhao.’ Without engaging Flore directly, and without even coordinating with the Milanese, we can force the Floreans back.
Yinzhu, it’s truly an excellent strategy.”
Ye Yinzhu and Oliveira smiled at each other, “At first, I just wanted to burn the enemy’s provisions.
It was only after discussing it with Brother Oliveira that we came up with this plan to ‘kill several birds with one stone.’ With this, Flore will no longer be able to fully mit to bat operations against Milan.
Our cooperation agreement with the Milan Empire has thus been fulfilled.”
What actually pleased Ye Yinzhu the most was the materials he had managed to cart away from Flore’s big camp.
Although the armor and weapons were no match for the Dwarf Clan Masters’ masterpieces, there were plenty of them – enough resources for Qin City to equip several legions.
Along with Flore’s carriages, those supplies would undoubtedly play a significant role in the future construction of Qin City.
“Alright, it’s time for us to leave.
This is just the first gift we’ve given to Flore, of course, it’s far from enough.”
The Qin City Mixed Corps, known in future generations as the ‘Nightmare of Flore’ and the key force that turned the tide of this continental war, quietly vanished into the dense forest.
Aside from themselves, no other party knew the true movements of this troop.
At the Flore front line, it was two days later when Marshal Kusler of the Flore Kingdom received the news.
In the central tent, Kusler looked at his nephew standing before him, covered in mud with his armor broken in many places and his face smeared with blood, and his body began to tremble.
His trembling had only one cause.
To either side inside the tent, the generals from the various legions of Flore stood silently, their faces grave.
“What did you say?
Say it again,” Kushler’s body was not the only thing trembling, his heart was shaking as well.
“Marshal, our logistics supply center has been obliterated, all the provisions and wagons have been burned to ashes, with barely any remaining except for what was stolen,” Kurd said, ready to face the music.
Knowing that such a grave sin meant certain death, he stood up defiantly, having resigned himself to his fate.
“You’re saying the provisions and wagons are gone?
Guarded by mountains, with a force of 50,000 troops and 100,000 reserves, are you saying it’s all gone?” Kushler’s voice suddenly rose, “Then why are you still alive, why didn’t you burn along with the supplies?” he practically roared the last sentence.
Kurd let out a wry smile, “Because, I had to bring the news to you.
I know, I’ve mitted a heinous crime, but, I had to bring you the first-hand report.”
“News be damned.
Kurd, you fool, that was the sustenance for half a million troops!
I don’t want to hear any of your reasons or explanations.
Guards, take Kurd down and execute him.”
“Uncle, please listen to me until the end.” Kurd strained himself and sent the personal guards who approached tumbling back before kneeling on the ground again.
Enraged, Kusler barked, “What?
You dare to resist?”
Kurd shook his head and said, “No, I am not resisting.
Uncle, this may be the last time in my life that I speak to you.
Please, you must listen to the end, for this concerns the life and death of our Flore!
You mentioned that under my mand, within our logistics supply center, there are as many as one hundred and fifty thousand soldiers, but still, we couldn’t protect the grain and forage, to secure the rear of Flore’s Army.
Why is that?
Don’t you want to know what kind of enemy could reach our rear and destroy our most critical supplies?”
After all, Kurd was Kusler’s only nephew, and Kusler, who had no children, had always placed great hope in him, treating him like his own son.
Although he wasn’t a famous marshal like Martin or Xi Duofu, he was nonetheless one of the military leaders within the Flore Kingdom.
Hearing his nephew speak thusly, Kusler’s emotions finally stabilized somewhat.
“Fine, speak then, just what kind of enemy destroyed our supplies?” Kusler suppressed his anger and walked to his manding seat to sit down.
Taking a deep breath, Kurd said, “Two nights ago, just after our soldiers had finished their dinner, without any warning, and with no information transmitted from the lookout towers in all directions, almost half of the warehouses in our camp ignited in flames all at once.
Under these circumstances, the entire camp immediately plunged into chaos.
As I was directing my subordinates to put out the fire and seek the cause, suddenly, one warehouse shattered, and a group of enemies burst out.
Their number was around a hundred or so.”
Kusler, infuriated to the point of laughter, remarked, “A hundred?
You’re not about to tell me that these hundred people destroyed my logistics, are you?”
Kurd nodded, his eyes reflecting intense fear, “Yes, uncle, it was indeed these hundred people who brought catastrophic destruction upon us.
Because they are the Behemoth Beasts, known to be invincible on land.”
“What?” This time, not only was Kusler surprised, but a chorus of astonished gasps also arose from the many generals around them.
The generals involved in this operation against Milan were doubtlessly the best of the Flore Kingdom, and they had almost all been tempered through the previous wars at the Northern Border, fighting incessantly against the Beastman.
It could be said that not one of these generals was without a deep hatred for the Beastman Clan and no grievance against them.
At the same time, they were the ones most aware of the bat strength of the Behemoth Beasts.
“No, this is impossible.
We have already reached a cooperation agreement with the War God Fortress, and soon, supplies in support of them are to be transported there.
How could the Beastman Clan possibly attack our deep rear at this time?
And in the logistics center in the west of our country?
That’s absolutely impossible.”
Agitated, Kurd exclaimed, “Uncle, this is the truth!
What else apart from the Behemoth Beasts could wreak such havoc within our troops with only a hundred?
I also don’t know how these Behemoth Beasts came to be; I’m aware of our agreement with the War God Fortress, but even so, we faced the frenzied slaughter by the Behemoth Beasts.
Leading them were three Gold Behemoths.
Uncle, have you forgotten?
It was you who first pointed out the enemy’s formation to me in the battlefield against the Beastman and told me what the Behemoth Beasts looked like; how could I possibly misidentify them?
Moreover, the bat power of the Behemoth Beasts is unmatched by any other race.”
Stunned, Kusler nonetheless grew much calmer and said in a deep voice, “Continue speaking.
At that time, with tens of thousands of troops at your disposal, even a hundred or so Behemoth Beasts should not have been utterly without a fight.”
Kurd said, “Yes, in terms of the number of troops, although the Behemoth Beasts were not a few, after all, they were only a hundred or so.
With our tens of thousands of troops, we should have been able to encircle and annihilate them.
However, leading those Behemoth Beasts was an enormous and formidable Magical Beast which I had never seen before, but I could affirm that, not even the Gold Behemoth could pare to it.
This Magical Beast was over a hundred meters long, nearly forty meters tall, and its wide body was like a small hill when it charged.
It had a single horn on its head; even our troops could not withstand its charge, let alone the Behemoth Beasts.
Under its lead, our already panicked formation was further shattered with one charge, and we couldn’t delay the Behemoth Beasts for even a moment.”
“A Magical Beast stronger than the Gold Behemoth?” Kusler paused, momentarily taken aback.
As a Dragon Knight himself, and the sole Purple Star Dragon Knight in the Flore Kingdom at that, he knew that the Gold Behemoth was a top-tier existence among Magical Beasts, parable to a rank Nine Giant Dragon, but something vastly stronger than them—what kind of Magical Beast could that be?
“Kurd, are you certain you didn’t see wrong?” Kusler pressed for confirmation.
“I am certain.
If it were not for the existence of this Magical Beast, our losses wouldn’t have been so severe.
Uncle, I found that Magical Beast somewhat familiar; it seemed like I have seen its image somewhere, but I can’t quite recall where.
However, its strength was truly terrifying; even the hills next to our camp were toppled by it, crushing who knows how many of our warriors.” (To be continued, if you want to know what happens next, please visit .
