Since it was on the top floor, one could enjoy a panoramic view of large portions of Landias City, the view being quite expansive.
The windows were made of transparent crystals that brought excellent lighting into the room.
Glacis and Ming shared a room, while Ye Yinzhu and Zi each had a room to themselves.
They each returned to their rooms for a short break.
“Yin Zhu, when are you planning to learn about the Cultural and Martial petition?
That Prince Barde we met earlier should also be participating.
This event of Landias has attracted many powerful individuals.
With your abilities, if we infiltrate the Landias Palace and find Sura, getting her out should not be a problem.”
Ever since leaving Qin City, Ye Yinzhu’s mood had been quite gloomy, causing Zi to worry.
Ye Yinzhu shook his head and said, “No, I can’t do that.
Doing so would be elopement, and even though Sura may not mind, I can’t let her suffer any injustices.
Besides, I had promised Granny Nina that I would disrupt this petition.”
Zi was astounded, “Yin Zhu, don’t tell me you plan to participate in this petition?”
Ye Yinzhu nodded resolutely and said, “Zi, please don’t try to stop me, alright?
I want to bring Sura home, fair and square.
She has suffered too much, she hasn’t had much happiness in her life, and I can’t sneak her away like a thief.
As long as I’m alive, I won’t let her endure any more injustices.”
Seeing the determination in Ye Yinzhu’s eyes and feeling his steadfast determination, Zi knew further persuasion was futile.
“What if the Phoenix Princess isn’t Sura?”
Ye Yinzhu paused, “Zi, I don’t know.
Usually, I will plan everything, but right now my heart is in chaos.
I would not fear even if a thousand armies stand in my way, but I am afraid that Sura might refuse to acpany me.”
A flash of a cold glint in Zi’s eyes, “Don’t worry, mate.
There’s always a way, no matter what happens.
With our power, I doubt anyone can stop us from leaving Landias City.”
In his suite, Ye Yinzhu crafted a magic formation that created an escape route for the four of them.
Even he wasn’t sure whether he wanted the Phoenix Princess to be Sura.
The next morning, Ye Yinzhu asked Zi and the others to stay at the hotel while he went to inquire about the Cultural and Martial petition alone.
The streets of Landias City seemed even more crowded.
Everywhere you went, there were throngs of people.
The Cultural and Martial petition was a major event in Landias.
Ye Yinzhu easily found out where the petition was just by asking a passerby.
He didn’t find the actual petition ground, but the official announcement posted by the Landias Empire with details on how to apply, and the rules of the petition.
The announcement post was located in the busiest district of the Landias Empire.
From a distance, Ye Yinzhu noticed the location, not because he wished to but rather due to the large crowd gathered there.
A huge signboard with the announcement stood tall, the characters as big as a human head, so even from a distance, one could easily read it.
The place was bustling with at least a few thousand people, their noisy chattering prompting Ye Yinzhu, who typically preferred calm and quiet, to stop in his tracks.
Even from afar, his sharp sight allowed him to read the announcement clearly.
Loud voices discussing the tournament were everywhere, making the atmosphere all the more chaotic.
As Ye Yinzhu intended to read what was on the announcement board, a soft and gentle voice echoed in his ear, “Oh, you’re here, too.
Where are your attendants?” His spirit’s sensitivity instantly told him the voice was directed towards him.
Turning to see who it was, he was rather surprised.
Several people had appeared behind him, four of which were tremendous figures he recognized instantly.
Their cold disposition and towering stature reflected their massive strength.
These four guards were acpanied by two people, more precisely, two female mages.
Their curves signified their gender, and their mage cloaks covered their faces.
If they hadn’t intentionally raised their heads, Ye Yinzhu wouldn’t have seen their faces.
These two women were none other than Kleyena and the Saintess of Light, Marina, whom he had just met the day before.
Kleyena was wearing a blue magic cloak that day, while Marina wore white, the symbol of light attributes.
When they raised their heads, their inparably beautiful faces instantly brightened up the surroundings, especially Marina’s, her robust, sacred aura always left people astonished.
Ye Yinzhu nodded slightly towards the two women as a form of greeting.
Kleyena’s gaze upon Ye Yinzhu seemed more out of curiosity, while Marina seemed thoughtful.
This time, she was the one to speak up first, “Sir, have we met before?”
Ye Yinzhu’s heart suddenly chilled.
He knew that Mages with strong spiritual power were extremely sensitive to auric shifts.
Subconsciously, he gently let half of his spiritual power flow in the shape of undead magic, allowing a faint, icy spectrum to emerge, hiding his own aura within it.
“Haven’t we met yesterday?” he answered.
Marina’s brows furrowed slightly, apparently sensing the shift in Ye Yinzhu’s aura.
The girl Kleyena on the side wasn’t sure why Ye Yinzhu, in contrast to every other person she had met, including her father, was unsurprised and unaffected by Marina’s presence.
There was no hint of flirtation in his attitude, nor any show of respect and adoration, even though both feelings were monly inspired by Marina.
In fact, he seemed eager to stay away.
Upon hearing Ye Yinzhu’s reply, Marina’s expression barely changed, and she didn’t ask any additional questions.
Kleyena promptly asked, “Have you e to pete in the literary and martial petition?”
Ye Yinzhu simply nodded.
Kleyena was a bit discontented with his lack of conversation.
“You are very reticent, aren’t you?
I don’t even know your name.
After I helped you yesterday, you left without even giving us your name.”
Ye Yinzhu stared at the young girl somewhat helplessly, “My name is Ye Su.
Thanks for your help yesterday.
If Madam has errands to run, go ahead.
I have no intention to chat, especially not yet ready to expose my true identity to Marina.” Yet he was confident that no matter what, with his camouflage skills, it would be tough for Marina to recognize him, seeing that her spiritual power wasn’t as advanced as his.
Kleyena looked at Ye Yinzhu’s calm eyes and huffed, “You really keep everyone at arm’s length.
If you’re as posed in the face of everything as you seem, you wouldn’t be peting in this literary and martial petition.
It’s all about fortune and beautiful women, isn’t it?”
Ye Yinzhu smiled faintly.
“Everyone strives for success.
Everyone is maneuvering for some advantage, doesn’t that sum up what every participant ing to pete in the literary and martial petition is after?
Who am I to be different?”
All of a sudden, Kleyena started giggling.
“If you are really here for fame and fortune, you should really work on getting on good terms with my sister, Marina.”
Ye Yinzhu was intrigued.
“Oh?
Why is that?”
“Do you know the rules of the literary and martial petition?” Kleyena asked.
Ye Yinzhu shook his head with a wry smile.
“If I did, I wouldn’t have to be here.
Madam, would you be willing to enlighten me?”
Kleyena grinned at him.
“I don’t mind helping, but I should get something in return, right?
We haven’t even had breakfast.” She was not quite sure why she was so interested in this seemingly ordinary Mage in front of her but perhaps it was because of his dignified and melancholic temperament that didn’t seem to be driven by fame or wealth.
It was evident from Kleyena’s association with Marina and her four formidable bodyguards that she was not an average girl.
Even the Red Lion King wouldn’t dare disrespect her.
She was undoubtedly far more knowledgeable about this literary and martial petition than Ye Yinzhu.
Ye Yinzhu, therefore, courteously invited them, “In that case, may I have the honor of inviting the ladies to breakfast?” He made a simple weling gesture that, despite its simplicity, exuded elegance and fort, a testament to his skill in Zither Magic, his high level of spiritual power, and his unity with his surrounding space.
“Follow me then,” Kleyena instructed, leading the way out with Marina under the protection of the bodyguards.
Ye Yinzhu followed them out of the crowded area of the city to a restaurant.
Though less luxurious than the hotel where he stayed, the restaurant was charmingly old-fashioned and quiet.
This restaurant was different from others.
No customers were present, and it was unusually peaceful amidst the busy city streets.
“Are there no customers here?” Ye Yinzhu couldn’t help but inquire as he entered.
Kleyena smiled slightly.
“This restaurant belongs to my family.
With every hotel and restaurant in the Imperial Capital overbooked recently, my father has instructed some of our hotels and restaurants to temporarily stop operating.
This way, we can better entertain some of our guests.
However, don’t think this means you’re off the hook for paying.
You’re paying for breakfast.”
Ye Zinzhu looked at Kleyena’s slightly mischievous grin and felt some of his sadness lift.
“Alright, you ladies can order whatever you like.”(To be continued.
