996: Chapter 318: The Enemy Finally Arrives, First Battle (Part 2) 996: Chapter 318: The Enemy Finally Arrives, First Battle (Part 2) “Issue my mand, prepare to meet the enemy at the city walls,” Ye Yinzhu ordered.

The warriors, who had been in a semi-resting state, raised their lances en masse.

The clanking of metal armor resounded, mingled with roars of thunder, as if the pressure brought by the enemy forces was being dispersed.

Standing by Ye Yinzhu’s side was Cruz, the vice marshal in charge of the southern wall, a marshal from the Landias Empire.

“Should we have the mages start preparing?” Cruz asked in a low voice.

Ye Yinzhu shook his head and said, “The real decisive battle is still far off.

The mages are our trump card.

We must not deplete their mana carelessly until the critical moment.

This is a war of attrition.

Whoever fails to hold out first will bee the loser.

Whoever reveals their hand last may well gain the final victory.”

A dark red glow began to appear among the enemy ranks.

Behind the ghouls and Wicked Scythes, dark red halos floated out from the Abyss Army and landed on the ground in front of their formation.

Then a terrifying scene unfolded.

Acpanied by the trembling of the earth, ghastly white bone claws emerged from the ground.

More ghouls and Wicked Scythes crawled out from below the ground.

These ghouls and Wicked Scythes were different from the cannon fodder troops at the forefront of the Abyss Army; they were entirely summoned by magic, without souls, and their death energy came from the air of the Abyssal Plane.

No need to question, those emitting the dark red halos were the male witches of the enemy forces.

Ye Yinzhu’s pupils suddenly contracted.

Just from this one side, the number of ghouls and Wicked Scythes that had crawled out from the ground exceeded two hundred thousand, which meant that the total number of low-level Abyssal Creatures summoned by the enemy male witches was close to a million.

Although these lower Abyssal Creatures weren’t much, such summoning power was still terrifying.

Whether it was the Ryuzakinus Alliance Army or the Abyss Army, what both feared most was attrition.

Every warrior’s death in battle weakened one side by a fraction.

Ryuzakinus would lose warriors, while the enemy would lose death energy.

With a burst of sharp screams, the newly summoned ghouls and Wicked Scythes moved, sprinting towards the Ryuzakinus Fortress.

Despite the fortress’s massive scale, the enemy’s million-strong charge appeared still imposing.

The Wicked Scythes were clearly faster than the ghouls.

Covering the fifty-li distance in a charge, they soon rushed to the forefront, waving the two scythes in their hands and lunging toward the direction of the fortress.

Ye Yinzhu did not mand any ranged attack units to strike, ordering all warriors to stand by in their places, ready for close bat.

Faced with a vast enemy army numbering in the tens of millions, under this mountain-like pressure, his heart sank into extreme calm.

As the mander, at this moment, his mands could determine the oute.

Orders continuously went out via munication devices made by the Goblin Tribe.

The Ryuzakinus Fortress began to operate swiftly, with the legions moving to designated positions and silently waiting as per Ye Yinzhu’s direction.

Now, the vanguard of the summoned Wicked Scythe Army had arrived at the base of the fortress walls.

These Wicked Scythes demonstrated their formidable side at once.

Even the lowest ranks had impressive leaping power, able to reach heights of five meters in a bound.

Although their scythes were not capable of piercing the solid city walls, they could leverage the sharpness of their scythes to bounce off the walls, rapidly scaling towards the upper reaches of the hundred-meter-high fortress.

Following their lead, the ghouls advanced toward the walls, mirroring the Wicked Scythes’ steps.

The rustling sound of massing skeletons was hair-raising, with vast waves of energy circulating in the air.

Although these besieging Abyssal Creatures were the lowest rank and lacked death energy, the evil aura they emanated was palpable to every warrior of Ryuzakinus.

The war had finally begun.

The first batch of Wicked Scythes pleted their final leap swiftly, pouncing towards the battlements.

The defenders atop the battlements were elite infantry from the eight nations of the Ryuzakinus Alliance Army.

In preparation for this holy war, each nation had spared no expense: the infantry wore armor forged from steel and carried lances three and a half meters long.

The ordinary Wicked Scythes’ blades were only a meter and a half long, and neither sufficiently hard nor sharp enough to pose much of a threat to steel.

When the first group of Wicked Scythes leaped up, the resonant mands of the leaders had already spread across the entire battlement.

“Kill—” This cry sounded from all sides of the Ryuzakinus Fortress.

The steel lances pierced out immediately, penetrating the bodies of the Wicked Scythes and forcefully halting their assault.

Of course, some Wicked Scythes were quick to dodge the first row of lances, but they were soon shattered to pieces in the subsequent forest of steel.

Broken bones kept scattering down toward the city, and any Wicked Scythe that was shattered had its bones dissipating into puffs of black vapor before they even had a chance to land beneath the city.

These summoned creatures were devoid of spirits and life; they knew neither pain nor death and, like a rising tide, they continuously battered against the fortress’s walls.

Their fearsome scythes left mark after mark on the Ryuzakinus warriors’ weapons and Armor.

“Tree Spirit Druids, get ready,” Ye Yinzhu manded swiftly.

As the Wicked Scythe Army mounted a full-scale assault, the Ghoul troops also arrived at the base of the city.

Although they climbed more slowly than the Wicked Scythes, the Ghouls’ defensive power was noticeably higher.

Massive numbers of Ghouls began to follow the Wicked Scythes, clambering up toward the city.

One after another, Tree Spirit Druids appeared atop the fortress walls.

Unlike their usual battle formation, these Tree Spirit Druids were not in a dense array.

Although they held their signature Lances, each Tree Spirit Druid was suffused with a faint green light which gave off the aura of nature.

The total number of Tree Spirit Druids who had e with the Elf Tribe reached three thousand, representing the full bat power of the Tree Spirit Druid Clan.

Now dispersed along the fortress walls, each Tree Spirit Druid was positioned more than a hundred meters apart, silently waiting for Ye Yinzhu’s mand.

Watching as the last batch of Ghouls reached the base of the city and prepared to attack, Ye Yinzhu’s order finally came.

“Tree Spirit Druids, disperse,” his calm voice burst forth, and though it was an immensely large battlefield, without using any munication devices, his voice spread instantaneously like a Divine Music Halo under the influence of his powerful Soul Power, reaching the ears of each Tree Spirit Druid on the Fortress walls with clarity.

The Tree Spirit Druids raised their Lances, and a soft humming noise quietly emerged.

The green glow around each of the Tree Spirit Druids suddenly expanded, wafting forward in a fan shape.

The green light spread outwards in a semi-circle, quickly covering hundreds of meters in front of the Fortress walls, including the walls themselves.

That moment of perfect harmony made the Ryuzakinus Fortress seem as if it had released a green halo around itself.

Both Wicked Scythes and Ghouls, these summoned Abyssal Creatures, crumbled instantly wherever the green light touched, dissolving into black vapor within the light and vanishing pletely.

A million enemies were wiped out in that moment.

Having pleted the dispelling, the Tree Spirit Druids immediately stepped back to rest, absorbing the life aura released by the Eternal Tree within the Fortress to recover their Magic Power.

Since Qin City’s Life Ancient Tree evolved into the Eternal Tree, the Elves have not only gained several powerful new troops in these years, but the Druids’ abilities also changed.

This dispelling ability was acquired by the Tree Spirit Druids under the influence of the Eternal Tree.

This ability may not seem very powerful, and its effect is quite simple: it disperses all Negative Magic Effects, and it’s especially effective against Dark Creatures.

The strength of dispersing varies according to the Magic Effects of the target, and it has an upper limit.

When Ye Yinzhu discovered this ability of the Tree Spirit Druids, he was overjoyed.

Though the dispelling might not have a direct effect on higher-order Abyssal Creatures like Male witches and Female Witches, for lower-order creatures, particularly those summoned from the Abyss, it could be devastating.

Ye Yinzhu had personally tested this with his own Undead Magic on the Tree Spirit Druids, and any summoned creature below Yellow rank simply couldn’t survive the Druids’ dispelling.

And for various Negative auxiliary Magic, this dispersion also had a great dispelling effect.

This ability was most appropriate for battles in the Abyssal Plane.

It could at least greatly weaken the auxiliary Magic effects of Male witches and Female Witches.

Therefore, this time the Tree Spirit Druids acpanied the main force to the Ryuzakinus Fortress, and they no longer were just ranged attackers, but part of the Mage sequence, and a very important sequence at that.

Their presence not only allowed them to counter the enemy, but also under the influence of the Eternal Tree within the Fortress, their Natural Magic Power recovery rate was much faster than that of other system Mages.

This was precisely why Ye Yinzhu directly used them to confront those summoned creatures.
