The next day...
Xiaoyun, Lily, and Shuli were walking down the streets early in the morning as they headed in the sa direction.
Along the way, they could see a bunch of middle-aged adults and even so elderly people, all walking down the street with a young adult.
"Geez, there are a lot more people than I had imagined... Is everyone here to look at the scores?"
Xiaoyun murmured as they could see Lily’s school entrance in the distance, which was crowded with people trying to get in with their kids.
"Of course not... It doesn’t help that the school is K-12, all using the sa main entrances."
Shuli explained as she guided the two of them around the front entrance, going all the way around the school fences before arriving at a teacher’s parking lot.
Through there, the two could finally enter the school campus as they quickly arrived at the high school building.
Once again, there were crowds of people standing before a wall, with young teenagers and older adults alike celebrating or walking off in disappointnt.
"Ahem, I’ve got to go now. I can’t be seen with Lily."
As Shuli departed in her own direction, the two of them began to line up behind the crowds, waiting for their turns to see the scoreboard.
Rows upon rows of nas were posted on the wall, with their school ID and their score right next to it on full display.
After squeezing and moving closer and closer to the left, the two finally found her position in the leaderboard.
She had scored a 658 out of 750, which was 89th place in the overall ranking, still way above 99.9% of the students in the school.
"Dang, this is impressive. Good job, Lily."
Xiaoyun congratulated as he looked over to the endless rows of paper to the right, which implied the number of people who took the exams was well over 10000.
"Thank you..."
As Lily’s face looked a little proud of her score, her face soon darkened after looking at the Major that people above her had signed up for.
Almost every single one of them had signed up for chanical engineering, almost as if everyone wanted that professor.
"Geez, why does everyone want chanical engineering? Is it really that hot of a Major?" Xiaoyun wondered.
"Of course. It’s the only engineering class that isn’t civil engineering. Both of the arms’ factories already said they are recruiting all students who graduated from them."
As a parent nearby answered Xiaoyun’s question, he quickly realized Lily’s attempt to get into the major she wanted was much more difficult than he had imagined.
"Lily. 89th place is crazy high. The professor has to take in at least a few hundred students in his class anyway. I’m sure you’re getting in."
Xiaoyun comforted after seeing Lily’s face looking a little worried as the two of them walked out of the crowd.
"You’re right. I’m just worrying over nothing... Thanks for showing up."
"No problem..."
Just as the two of them awkwardly stood in front of each other for a few seconds, a girl’s voice from behind suddenly interrupted them.
"Hey Lily! What score did you get?"
Turning around, it was four girls standing near a tree, waving Lily to co over as they all looked a little excited.
"I got 658. What did you guys get?"
Lily asked, eting up with her friend, which instantly gave off a sharp contrast to Xiaoyun’s mind, as all four of her friends were taller than her.
Only one of them was near her height, and even then, it was a stretch as her slightly bigger body overshadowed her.
"I got 568." One of the taller girls answered.
"I got 460." The second girl answered.
"I got 570. Jiejie got 680." The older-looking girl answered as the fourth girl looked shyly to the ground.
"What? Jiejie, how the hell did you get 680?" Lily urgently asked, pulling the girl with a little extra fat on the side.
"It’s called the power of the brain... Ahem, Lily, who’s this guy right next to you? I had never seen him before."
As soon as Jiejie asked the question, the other three all turned around, looking over to Xiaoyun with a curious look.
"Yeah, who is this handso fella? Why does he feel so familiar?" One of the taller girls questioned as she examined his body.
Seeing all of them walking closer and closer to Xiaoyun, Lily quickly ran back, separating them from him.
"S-Stop looking at him like that. H-He’s my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend? What!"
All four of them looked a little shocked before their eyes all looked a little weird towards Xiaoyun.
"Lily, you aren’t being tricked to be with a creep, right?" The second girl questioned, her face looking a little doubtful towards him.
"Of course not. H-He’s the love of my life." Lily nervously replied.
"But Lily, you’re so young still... This man is definitely a creep. Way too old to be with soone in high school."
The older-looking girl murmured, her eyes staring dead in the eyes right at Xiaoyun as if he was so sort of threat.
"Sis, don’t you have a boyfriend too?" The fourth girl murmured.
"Shut up. That’s different. H-He’s in the sa grades as ... Lily, how old is this person?"
As the four of them started to interrogate Xiaoyun’s intention with Lily, he finally decided to speak up.
"Lily, have you never told them about our relationship to anyone in the school at all?"
"Of course not. W-Why would I need to tell them that? That’s my personal affair."
Lily shyly answered, her face blushing red as the confrontation started to make her brain go all fuzzy.
"You, Mister. Stay away from my friend... Lily, co with us. Let’s report this creep to the police."
Just as the older girl tried to pull Lily away, she remained firm in her place, pushing them back before running to Xiaoyun’s arm.
"Y-You guys are overthinking it. I-I genuinely liked him. He’s not a creep. He hasn’t threatened at all or anything."
"Does Auntie Leyan know about this?" The second girl finally asked the question in her mind the whole ti.
Seeing Lily nodding her head, all four of them looked even more shocked this ti. They just couldn’t believe it at all.
"Serious? Does this man have dirt on Auntie Leyan? Why would she ever let this old man go near you?"
"Ahem, excuse . I’m not old. I’m a 2nd-year university student before the outbreak." Xiaoyun murmured.
"You don’t look that young, though." The older girl murmured as she stared towards his slightly stubble-chin.
"Yeah, who wears a suit to school... Wait, Lily, don’t tell , you live with this person at ho too?"
As soon as Lily slowly nodded her head, all four of them instantly pulled her over as they acted as a wall between her and Xiaoyun.
"Stop it. Let go."
"Lily, you’re out of your mind. I can’t believe you’re the craziest out of all of us. We are not letting you go ho until you give us an explanation."
"Yeah, you’re not going until you tell us who this man is."
Seeing Xiaoyun still standing there and even chuckling a little when they pulled her back, Lily finally had enough.
"Xiaoyun, stop ssing around."
"Lily, you have so really good friends... Okay, fine. Ahem, let properly introduce myself to your friends."
As Xiaoyun cleared his throat in front of them, Jiejie’s eyes started to widen as if she had just realized sothing.
"I’m the governor. My na is Xiaoyun, if that’s what you guys really wanted to know." Xiaoyun clarified.
"If you’re the governor, then I’m the world leader. Stop acting like we’re stupid——"
"Sis, I-I think he might be the governor."
The mont Jiejie pulled her sister’s sleeve, the older-looking girl froze in place. The other two froze as well as if they finally realized why he looked so familiar.
"Lily, you still haven’t introduced your friends to ... And don’t worry, I won’t take offense to what you guys said earlier."
"Y-You really are the governor?" The taller girl nervously asked.
"Who else would have ’dirt’ on Auntie Leyan? Nice to et you, Miss. I hope you can continue to be good friends with Lily."
As Xiaoyun reached out for a handshake, the three of them stood still, looking to be completely frozen in place.
Only Jiejie reacted as she quickly took out her hand to accept the handshake, not leaving his hand awkwardly hanging in the air.
"Nice to et you, Mr.Governor. I’m Chen Jiejie. Sorry for what my sister and friends said earlier, they didn’t really an it."
"Don’t worry. I don’t feel offended by it... Lily, can you introduce your friends to now?" Xiaoyun asked again as he repeated his answer from earlier.
"Oh, right."
Lily finally ran out of her friend’s grasp, going back to standing right next to Xiaoyun as she finally began to introduce them one by one.
