"Ember, child... You see, I am proposing this only for your benefit." Brenda, dressed in neat clothes, crossed her legs and feigned a concerned look.
Her short brown hair looked ssy, yet compared to others whose hair was looking oily and not washed for days, she was able to stand out without any effort.
Though being chubby, she had puffed up her chest as if it were a proud thing to do; her straight back occasionally started to hunch before she straightened it again.
A sharp glint flashed in her eyes as she swept her gaze at everyone before it landed on the walls.
Her expression resembled that of a diplomat who was trying to trick others and yet act kind and generous.
How can the Nightbanes, who had seen many such people, not understand what Brenda was trying to do?
Their heart turned cold, while disgust surfaced at the bottom of their heart. Trying to maintain the last shred of dignity, Helena smiled politely and answered,
"We will have to decline your kind intentions then. Our Amber can’t marry York."
Brenda, seated on the sofa of the living room, was busy staring at the moss-covered wall, her face scrunched up in disgust, and she thought in her heart,
’Puti! What shaless people they are, living in such a house and still dreaming of marrying off their daughter to us? Truly... so people harbor illusions and don’t see it till soone shows them the mirror.’
"Brenda." Helena’s composed voice snapped Brenda out of her daze, and she imdiately smiled. "So should I fix the marriage dates then? Your Ember will live a great life there!"
Victor gave a chilling smile. "Oh? Is it? Why not send your Ophelia to York then?"
Brenda had been prepared for this question and feigned a reluctant expression, "I want to! Believe ! But since our background is good, York refused, saying ...with such a good background, Ophelia couldn’t beco a concubine."
Felix scoffed at her nonsense.
"Then, I thought about Ember. She is young and beautiful, just like my Ophelia. Even though she couldn’t beco the main wife, York is ready to give 30 kg of at and 10kg of fresh vegetables! The atmosphere turned chilly while the faces of all the Nightbane darkened.
"Hey, old woman..." Felix began, but Helena glared at him, causing him to gulp and say,
"Miss Brenda, why don’t you try? Even though your background is good, you are second-hand... scratch that, at least fourth-hand good... And with York’s taste, that he even considered Ophelia... he should accept you."

"You! How dare you insult , bastard!" Brenda’s face turned red from anger, and she pointed her finger in Felix’s direction.
If looks could kill, Felix would have disintegrated into atomic particles by now.
"Just like you were insulting my sister!" Felix didn’t hold back and stared at Brenda with disdain. "Mark my words, Brenda, one day, you will regret your words!"
"Oh? When? Which date is it? Let check the calendar. Ah! Let’s forget... There is no such calendar that will have the date when your Nightbane family will rise again." Brenda sneered, her hand resting on her hips, looking like a shrew.
"That’s what you think." Felix retorted with rage.
"Felix!" Helena stopped him and tried to calm the situation, but Felix beca agitated and asked, while pointing at Brenda,
"Why are you even listening to this fat woman’s nonsensical words, Mom?"
"You! What did you call ? How dare..." Brenda began, her face was burning with anger, while her eyes were spewing fire. If it wasn’t for the fact that Felix looked taller and stronger, she would have stood up and glanced down at him, reminding him of their different status now.
Midway through her sentence, she was interrupted.
"How dare I? Just like I did before, you fat woman! How dare you propose that my sister marry a 60-year-old pervert as a concubine?" Felix bellowed, his face turned red from anger.
"You are a stupid idiot! Do you think anyone will be ready to marry her? That bitch!" Brenda pointed in Ember’s direction, who was blankly staring ahead.
"Soone will! And it will be your son!" Felix argued back; he had such confidence because of Jay and Ember’s plan that he had heard about before.
Brenda sneered and thought in her heart, ’Sure enough... they are toads lusting after a swan! If today, I don’t make them give up on their fantasy, then my na won’t be Brenda!’
"My son? So, have you collected 20 kg of at, 30 kg of vegetables, and 1000 kg of rice? If so... then I won’t oppose anymore." Brenda’s tone softened as if she had genuinely considered such a possibility, yet her eyes flashed with mockery.
In an instant, everyone fell silent as if soone had pressed the mute button.
Even Felix couldn’t utter a single word. He couldn’t foolishly reveal Ember and Jay’s plan, could he?
Seeing their silence, Brenda snorted, "You haven’t? How shaless! I wish to slap you all and wash away your shalessness, but your skins are so thick that I fear that no dent will be created."
She shot a venomous gaze in Ember’s direction and stated in a cold voice,
"If you have any self-awareness, you will stay away from my son and marry this York. Otherwise, write up a contract stating that you have fallen in love with soone else and won’t marry Jay. Otherwise, even if this relationship prevails, I will co to insult your parents every single day!"
