If she truly listened to her parents and left, then she wouldn’t be able to deliver at. That was what he was worried about.

Taking a deep breath, suppressing the wave of disgust rising in her chest, Angelina spoke evenly, "Are you concerned about at? If that’s what you want to know, I definitely won’t return to Ivy’s base."

Damien paused. His gaze lingered on her, sharp and unfathomable, as though he were peeling her apart layer by layer.

"You’re one of the smartest won I’ve ever interacted with."

Angelina clenched her fists. By now, she had already realized sothing chilling.

The Damien standing in front of her was no longer the Damien she once knew. He had transford into sothing far more terrifying, sothing wearing Damien’s skin.

Because of that realization, she didn’t react much. Her voice remained calm as she replied, "Then I’ll take my at."

Damien nodded. Then, as if rembering sothing important, he added, "You should start preparing to find a proper base. Now is the right ti."

He stepped closer, his tone almost indulgent. "Soon, I’ll reach the peak of my power. When that happens, we’ll lead our own base."

Angelina frowned and turned back to look at him. "You don’t have food."

What truly worried her wasn’t hunger itself. It was the possibility that Damien would demand she beg, barter, or buy food on his behalf. That was sothing she could never do.

Damien looked at her, irritation flickering briefly across his face. "Humans are truly troubleso."

Then his voice settled into calm indifference. "I’ll handle it. You can leave now."

Angelina exhaled in relief. Knowing she wouldn’t be responsible for finding food lifted a heavy weight from her chest. Without another word, she turned and left.

Once she disappeared from sight, Damien whistled softly and walked back inside the cave.

He was wearing a black T-shirt that clung perfectly to his fra and a pair of loose jeans. These were clothes he had taken from Damien’s original house.

Wearing them felt strange.

’So inefficient,’ he thought with mild distaste. In his own world, clothing was perfectly tailored, flexible, and optimized for movent. The original owner of this body clearly favored comfort over function.

He sat down and considered food.

With a low chuckle, he snapped his fingers. In the next instant, a donut appeared in his hand.

If Angelina had been there, she would have recognized it imdiately. This donut had been real Damien’s favorite.

The reason it appeared so easily was simple. The superior being now inhabiting Damien’s body had full access to his mories.

He studied the donut before taking a bite, smiling faintly. ’Earthlings are truly amusing.’

Still, the greatest benefit of becoming human was undeniable. He could eat.

Back on his own planet, they could conjure food from thin air, but it was nutritionally hollow.

Over ti, that deficiency had driven their civilization into desperation. They had poured everything into technology, exploring planet after planet in search of sustenance.

That was how they discovered Earth.

They learned that by inhabiting a human body, they could experience food fully.

Taste. Texture. Satisfaction. The discovery was revolutionary, though few dared to attempt it. Then ca the accident. The retreat. The sudden withdrawal of their entire planet.

Even though Damien didn’t know the full plan, he could sense what was coming.

A smile slowly spread across his face. "It’s ti," he muttered softly, thinking of soone else. "Ti to contact him."

anwhile, far away, Martha paced angrily inside her house, her thoughts burning with resentnt toward Kael.

Even though he had co to her repeatedly, begging for forgiveness, she had ignored him completely.

The idea that he had kept a substitute behind her back filled her with rage. More than anger, it disgusted her.

’How could soone who likes also keep a substitute?’

If he hadn’t liked her at all and simply had a girlfriend, she wouldn’t have cared. Everyone had a past. But Kael had liked her, pursued her, and still poured his attention into soone else.

The thought made her stomach churn. If that substitute had ever taken advantage of him openly, Martha knew she wouldn’t even be able to look at them together without breaking down.

The bitterness grew heavier with every thought. Finally, she made a decision. ’I won’t look at him anymore.’

As if her frustration wasn’t enough, her assistant Lina continued to make mistake after mistake. Martha was furious to the point of wondering if Lina was deliberately sabotaging her.

’How is it possible,’ she thought angrily, ’that sothing goes wrong every single ti she handles a task?’

Martha had instructed Lina to compile a list of everyone living in the base. The next day, Lina arrived at her doorstep with a massive stack of papers.

Just as Martha felt relieved, Lina scratched her head awkwardly. "I went to as many houses as I could and collected as many nas as possible."

Martha stared at her, stunned. "Why would you go door to door?"

She pressed her temples. "You could’ve gone straight to the security office at the base entrance. They already have a complete list."

Lina blinked, genuinely shocked, her expression screaming that the thought had never crossed her mind.

Martha sighed, convincing herself it was a one-ti mistake.

She was wrong.

Later, Martha asked Lina to post the new regulations she had compiled in every official office under the base.

The result was disastrous. Lina plastered the notices on every single house, including private residences.

Martha was left utterly speechless.

"I did it because all the houses belong to the base," Lina justified earnestly.

Martha barely managed to stop herself from erupting on the spot. Her nails dug into her palms as she stared at Lina, her patience stretched to its absolute limit.

"Listen carefully," Martha warned, her voice cold and controlled. "If you dare to make the sa mistake again, I’ll fire you on the spot."

Lina’s eyes instantly welled up. Her lips trembled, and tears spilled down her cheeks as she put on a pitiful, innocent expression.

"You’re bullying ," Lina sobbed loudly. "I’ll complain to Ivy!"
