The military base had descended into absolute chaos.

The reason was painfully simple. A new piece of information was spreading like wildfire through every corner of the camps.

It was no longer just about General Dante. This ti, the rumor claid that General Frank also had a hidden stash of supplies.

As if that were not enough, another version twisted the story further, saying that half of Dante’s supplies had been secretly taken by Frank. Soone had even leaked the exact location of Frank’s so-called reserve storage.

Panic followed greed.

Within a single night, Frank’s family’s food vanished into thin air.

What stunned everyone, however, was not the theft itself, but the amount.

Only half of the rumored supplies were gone. Even Silas was taken aback when he received the report.

The numbers did not add up. Standing alone in his dimly lit office, Silas narrowed his eyes. ’

’Either there’s a mole... or Frank can see every move we make,’ he thought grimly.

Yet after checking and rechecking, one conclusion beca disturbingly clear. There was no mole among them.

That realization made Silas’s blood run cold.

From that point on, he moved carefully, weaving plans within plans, bait layered with patience. Finally, he laid down a trap so perfectly tid that it shook the entire base. Dante resigned.

The news exploded like a bomb. Discontent surged, voices rose, and unrest rippled through the ranks.

But just as anger threatened to spiral out of control, another announcent followed. Silas’s family was ready to donate food.

The effect was imdiate.

Cheers replaced curses. Tension lted into relief. Even General Frank was stunned when Silas personally donated half of the supplies.

Boxes of instant noodles piled up, looking like treasures under the harsh lights. People forgot about everything else.

There were still a few greedy eyes lingering in the shadows, but compared to before, the crowd had beco strangely sensible.

"They’ve already donated so much," so muttered.

"There’s no need to keep pushing Dante," others agreed.

"If anyone should be questioned, it’s Frank."

Just like that, the tide turned.

The spies Frank had secretly planted as provocation beca useless. His supporters hesitated. So even wondered if they should retreat or continue stirring trouble.

While everyone was still reeling from this sudden reversal, another piece of news spread through the base like a chilling wind.

General Frank’s son was going to die.

It was said that Jade, the sickly son who had accompanied General Frank all these years, was not supposed to live past eighteen.

Yet sohow, he had survived until twenty. Now, people whispered that his ti had finally co.

Faces grew solemn, voices dropped, and even the most cynical soldiers felt an unspoken weight settle on their chests.

Silas felt uneasy.

’News like this doesn’t spread without reason,’ he thought, his brows knitting together.

Sure enough, General Frank soon made an announcent.

A new rumor followed imdiately, deliberate and carefully crafted.

Military healers were to be recruited. Any healer willing to treat Jade would receive a generous reward. So would even be offered one thousand kilograms of rice every month.

The ssage was clear.

Every grain of food General Frank possessed was ant for his son.

Half the crowd lost its montum instantly. Greed faltered in the face of desperation.

anwhile, Silas wanted to punch soone.

He had earlier gone to resign and inford his father, believing things would proceed logically.

.

By all reason, Silas’s resignation should have been approved as well.

But reality mocked logic. The old man threw everything aside, resigned first, and left without hesitation.

Frank seized the opportunity.

Silas was put on the spot, trapped in his position, unable to leave even if he wanted to.

Rage simred beneath his calm exterior. He thought of his planned marriage with Ivy, of the future slipping further out of reach, and fury burned through his veins.

’I’ll vent this on him,’ Silas decided coldly.

From then on, he began striking back in the shadows. Sotis, he planted moles within Frank’s circle, exposing or sabotaging plans at critical monts.

Other tis, he was the one being sched against. The military base transford into a silent battlefield.

Trying to make long-term moves, Silas swallowed losses more than once. He even had to cut off people he knew were moles, watching them fall with clenched fists and a bitter taste in his mouth.

As ti passed, Silas slowly gained clarity.

Then he made his big move.

A new wave of rumors surged through the base, painting Frank as the most suitable candidate to manage military affairs.

The montum grew so fast that even Frank felt uneasy. ’Soone is scheming behind my back,’ he thought darkly.

Before he could react, one of his closest subordinates stepped forward.

Without warning, the man began distributing Frank’s stored food openly, announcing that all supplents and extra supplies would be donated to the crowd.

As for the remaining portion, it would be reserved entirely for Jade’s treatnt.

The reaction was overwhelming. People cheered. Applause echoed.

So even shouted that Frank should beco the base leader.

Frank’s heart sank. He knew instantly who was behind this. Hatred twisted his expression. ’Silas,’ he thought, teeth grinding. ’That scheming bastard.’

Yet before Frank could counterattack, another rumor spread like poison.

Silas was smuggling food out of the military.

The amount was laughably small, just two pieces of bread, but the implication was devastating.

It was enough to stain his reputation. Whispers grew louder, accusations sharper. People began saying that soone so inappropriate had no right to remain in the military.

Pressure mounted on Frank from all sides.

"Kick him out. He’s a disgrace."

"He can’t be trusted."

With no choice left, Frank convened a eting.

Inside the hall, the air was tense, thick with expectation. Everyone stared at Silas with sothing close to admiration. No one had expected him to turn the situation around so brutally.

Frank glanced at Silas and spoke grimly. "It has been reported that you stole bread."

Silas shrugged, his posture lazy, his eyes cold. "I didn’t do it. It’s just a rumor."

Frank could have ignored it. But fury surged instead. "If that’s the case," he snapped, "you should have clarified it."
