The more he thought, the more unsettled he beca.
His movents slowed.
For a brief mont, he simply stood there in the middle of combat.
Felix and Kael, who were covering him during the hunt, imdiately noticed.
"Silas!" Felix shouted, rushing toward him. "Focus!"
A zombie lunged at Silas, its claws slicing through the air inches from his face.
He barely dodged in ti, the foul stench of rot brushing against him.
Kael’s voice trembled. "What’s wrong with you? This isn’t like you!"
They had never seen him so distracted.
For a second, they even considered calling Ivy, fearing sothing was deeply wrong.
But they forced themselves to concentrate and soon cleared the remaining zombies.
After the battle, they found a quiet spot and sat down to rest.
Felix wiped sweat from his brow and looked directly at Silas. "Tell us what’s going on."
Silas hesitated, then asked in a low voice,
"What would you do... if the person you love had another soulmate?"
Felix and Kael fell silent.
They had both faced similar doubts before.
Kael once believed Martha might have another destined partner. Felix had once feared unrequited feelings.
Taking a deep breath, they answered honestly.
"If it’s truly decided," Kael said quietly, "then we would accept it."
Silas’s face paled. "What if you can’t let go?"
At that, Felix frowned. "If you’ve started liking soone else, then admit it and don’t make excuses."
Silas blinked in disbelief. "It’s not ," he insisted. "It’s Ivy."
The two exchanged glances.
"So... she’s cheating?" Kael muttered, clearly surprised.
"If that’s the case," Felix added bluntly, "then divorce her imdiately."
Silas felt exasperated.
’These are the people I trusted for advice?’
He sighed heavily.
"Explain properly," Felix urged. "Give us the full story."
Silas recounted everything: Jade, the soulmate bond, and Ivy’s reassurances.
When he finished, Felix frowned. "So what’s the problem? Didn’t she already comfort you?"
"She did," Silas admitted softly. "That’s not it."
He stared at the ground.
"The problem is... I know that one day Jade might prove himself worthy. He might truly beco her other soulmate."
Hearing those words, Kael frowned deeply.
"How would Jade even be able to do sothing like that?" she asked, confusion evident in her tone.
Silas shook his head slowly. "I don’t know either," he admitted. "But I know one thing... that day, when I looked into his eyes, I could see strang connection."
He paused, rembering that unsettling mont.
"A connection between him and Ivy," he continued quietly, "I don’t know if I am being paranoid or... just overly sensitive... I feel... Ivy can be snatched away from ."
Felix and Kael exchanged glances before trying to console him.
Felix leaned back and sighed. "You’re overthinking this."
But Silas’s expression only grew more pained.
"What hurts the most," he murmured, "is that I haven’t even had enough ti with her. I haven’t properly loved her, cherished our monts, or lived peacefully together... and now it already feels like I have to say goodbye."
...............
Unbeknownst to them, Ivy had arrived nearby, intending to surprise Silas.
Instead, she heard everything.
She stood still, stunned, her fingers tightening slightly around the small bag she carried.
She had believed the insecurity had already been resolved, yet it had spread deeper than she realized, taking root like a crack beneath the surface.
For a long mont, she said nothing.
’If I confront him now, he’ll only deny it,’ she thought. ’He needs to understand... not through argunt, but through feeling.’
So she quietly left, already forming a plan.
.....................
That night, when Silas returned to the apartnt, he noticed sothing strange the mont he opened the door.
The lights were off.
The darkness inside was thick and unusually silent, carrying a faint scent of candles and sothing sweet he could not imdiately identify.
As he stepped in and reached for the switch, he heard a soft rustling sound.
His instincts flared instantly.
’Soone’s here.’
He tensed, ready to react, but then rembered that only he and Ivy had keys to the apartnt.
The chances of an intruder were nearly nonexistent.
’Then... it must be her.’
A flicker of worry crossed his mind.
’Why is she sitting in the dark? Did sothing happen?’
He quickly turned on the light.
And froze.
The entire room was decorated.
Soft balloons floated near the ceiling, ribbons trailed along the walls, and warm lights created a gentle golden glow.
Small decorative pieces were arranged carefully, giving the place an intimate, almost dreamlike atmosphere.
Silas stood there, completely stunned.
Then Ivy’s soft voice ca from behind him. "Do you like the surprise?"
He turned.
Ivy stood there wearing a beautiful red dress, her makeup delicate and flawless.
She looked almost like a bride waiting for her partner. The sight made his heart skip violently, his thoughts scattering.
He stared at her, bewildered. "What... are you doing?"
Ivy shook her head lightly, smiling. "Nothing serious. You’ve been tired lately. Just rest and take things slowly."
With that, she turned and walked toward the bedroom.
Silas followed almost instinctively.
But the mont he entered, he stopped again, stunned by what he saw.
Various items were arranged on display, playful, unusual, and undeniably deliberate.
Cat ears, a maid outfit, a decorative tail, and several other accessories lay neatly placed as if prepared for so kind of role-playing ga.
Heat rushed to his face.
The more he looked, the more his body temperature rose, his mind struggling to process what was happening.
He looked at Ivy, utterly confused.
Ivy chuckled softly. "Tonight, we’re going to play a mory ga."
Silas blinked. "A... mory ga?"
"The rules are simple," she continued, stepping closer.
"You just need to rember the words I tell you. If you can hold onto them for a lifeti, then you win."
Silas listened quietly, waiting for her to finish.
"And the reward?" he asked, unable to hide the curiosity in his voice. "If this lasts a lifeti, shouldn’t I at least get sothing tonight?"
Ivy’s smile deepened, her eyes warm yet aningful.
"For tonight, you only need to prove your affection. If you keep proving it for the rest of your life... the reward will continue."
Silas’s eyes imdiately brightened.
