Ian’s expression stiffened slightly.
A faint disappointnt appeared on his face.
"I actually have several matters regarding my base that I wished to discuss with her personally."
He paused for a mont before leaning forward slightly.
"How about this? If you allow to et Ivy once... In return, I am willing to fulfill any one of your wishes."
The temperature in the room seed to drop instantly.
Martha’s brows furrowed. "I do not accept bribes."
Ian raised his hands slightly, his expression calm.
"This is not a bribe. It is simply mutual interest. As long as you allow to et Ivy once... there is nothing beyond my ability that I cannot obtain for you."
His voice was confident. Almost persuasive.
But Martha’s patience had already reached its limit.
She was just about to call the security guards and have Ian escorted out... When suddenly...
The office door was pushed open.
Both of them turned toward the sound. Ivy walked in.
The mont Martha saw her, she frowned slightly.
This was the first ti Ivy had ever interrupted a eting like this.
Before Martha could even speak, Ivy had already marched straight toward Ian.
Ian froze the mont his eyes landed on her.
At first, the shock wasn’t because of her appearance.
Although Ivy was undeniably beautiful.
Her soft pink hair fell loosely around her shoulders like strands of silk, and her skin was pale and flawless like polished jade.
However, what truly unsettled Ian was sothing deeper.
Her eyes. There was a cold intensity hidden inside them.
A quiet killing intent.
The mont Ivy saw Ian Morris standing there, her chest tightened violently.
’Finally... I found you.’
Ten minutes earlier, she had been sorting through routine reports when a ssage suddenly arrived.
A man who had once been involved in the tragedies that she had suffered during the apocalypse in her previous life ... had arrived at the base gate.
At first she couldn’t believe it.
But after reviewing the identity report herself, the na staring back at her made her blood run cold.
Ian Morris. The leader of Talon Base.
The man who had ruined her life in her previous life.
The mont she confird the information, she imdiately demanded his location.
And now... He was standing right in front of her.
As Ivy stared at him, a storm of emotions erupted inside her chest.
Her first instinct was simple.
’Kill him.’
This bastard had turned her life into hell in her previous life.
And now fate had delivered him right into her hands.
’How could I possibly let him walk away alive?’
Her fingers curled slowly at her side as a dark killing intent flashed across her eyes.
She wanted to kill him. She wanted him to feel it.
That bitterness. That despair.
’No... not just feel it. He should taste it... every single drop of it.’
A violent thought surged through her mind.
’I should capture him... torture him... exactly the way he tortured in my previous life.’
’Only then will he understand how it felt.’
The mory of chains, dark rooms, and endless pain flashed through her mind like a nightmare she could never erase.
And with that thought burning inside her chest, Ivy suddenly rushed forward.
Her boots struck the floor sharply, the sound echoing across the office.
Ian’s pupils shrank the mont he saw her charging toward him with that terrifying hatred in her eyes.
Without hesitation, his finger pressed a small button hidden beneath his sleeve.
Click.
The next second, all the subordinates who had been standing quietly outside imdiately rushed inside.
Their footsteps thundered across the hallway as they stord into the office like a trained unit.
Within seconds, they ford a tight protective barrier around Ian.
Weapons drawn. Bodies aligned.
Their formation blocked Ivy’s path completely.
Ivy stopped abruptly.
The sudden obstruction only made the rage inside her boil even hotter.
Her chest rose and fell as anger surged through her veins.
"Move. All of you... move!"
She almost unleashed her authority on the spot.
As the controller of the base, she could easily force these outsiders out of the base. With a single command from her authority, the base itself would reject them.
But just as she was about to act...
A familiar voice rang out from behind the protective wall of guards.
"May I know the reason why I am being honored with such an... enthusiastic welco?"
Ian’s voice was calm. Too calm.
Ivy’s eyes snapped toward him.
The two of them stared at each other across the line of guards.
Ian narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at her.
’If she had entered calmly... I might have still pretended to admire her. But now...’
The hatred burning in Ivy’s eyes was so obvious that even a fool could notice it.
’There is no need to pretend anymore.’
He slowly dropped the faint politeness on his face. Now there was only cold curiosity.
’Why does she hate ?’
That was the only question running through his mind.
Because no matter how he thought about it, it made no sense.
Even if Ivy had sohow heard bits and pieces about his past actions, he had never committed a cri severe enough to justify this level of hatred.
He hadn’t slaughtered innocent civilians.
He hadn’t attacked her base.
So where did this murderous intent co from?
’This hatred...’
’It is completely unreasonable.’
anwhile, Ivy stared at Ian’s calm face.
He looked at her as if he were completely innocent.
As if he had never done anything wrong.
That expression only ignited her fury even more.
Her fingers clenched tightly.
Her nails dug into her palms.
But then...
A thought flashed through her mind.
’The Ian of this life... He hasn’t done those things yet.’
He hadn’t imprisoned her. He hadn’t tortured her. He hadn’t broken her body and spirit.
Not yet. Which ant...
He probably didn’t know what he had done in her previous life.
But that didn’t change anything. Because she rembered. Every single second of it.
