Frank stared at his kneeling nephew with a furious expression. He couldn’t believe that the simple task he had assigned to Ronan couldn’t be fulfilled by him at all
Worst, his enemy might know about Frank’s plan, considering that Stephen didn’t even listen to Ronan’s words.
He turned toward his son, Jade, whose black eyes stared ahead. A profound look was visible in his eyes.
"Son, now... what should we do? Didn’t you say that Stephen for sure will die, and we can then proceed to attack the Blackthorn family..."
It might sound like a common question, but on closer inspection, there was a hint of bla hidden in those words.
Jade knew it all but turned a deaf ear to Frank’s words. In a voice only audible to him, he muttered,
"How is this possible? Sothing is not right... According to my predictions... Stephen should have died. Is my level too low, and hence I am only able to see possibilities and not the future?"
After a while, he regained his confidence and thought,
’Maybe soone closely related to Stephen, too, has awakened a future prediction superpower?’
"Jade? I am asking you sothing." Frank urged, he couldn’t wait to take down his political rival right away.
Jade paused before saying in a calm voice,
"There are still many opportunities, don’t be hasty, Dad."
From the mont Jade had awakened a superpower after the rain, he had received a future sight where a snake was brought from the depths of the Sahara desert by a local, which in the end beca a zombie snake.
Later, when Ronan was strolling around, he saw the strange snake and decided to poke it. Who would have thought that the snake would suddenly awaken and hiss at Ronan, making Ronan scared, and he would, in turn, shout, attracting Frank’s attention.
Frank rushes to save Ronan, but in the end, he gets bitten by the snake and dies on the spot.
When Jade saw that vision, he was filled with dread and shared it with his dad, who understood Jade’s implication and imdiately ca up with an excuse, successfully avoiding the mission.
However, Jade ca up with an even more brilliant plan. He asked Ronan to find the snake and then lure Stephen to that location.
In this way, Stephen would die instead of Frank, and then they could successfully avoid the fate by transferring their fate to soone else.
But who would have thought that Stephen would not even listen to Ronan’s shout and wouldn’t go in the direction Ronan had asked him to?
’Is that death inevitable?’ Jade thought bitterly, he couldn’t bear to see his father die, and hence ca up with such a vicious way to deal with Stephen.
Just as he was lanting, he suddenly felt a heat surging in his body. His entire body glowed slightly, attracting Ronan and Frank’s attention.
Not sparing them even a glance, Jade closed his eyes and saw a devastating scene. A horde of zombies rushed toward the Skyline Residents and invaded the building. It included their residence too.
A new kind of organization nad Black Vultures will rise. Their leader was ruthless and would eventually make a na for himself.
Slowly, he would rise and beco one of the top leaders in the apocalypse. His na was Derek Cain.
Jade rembered the subtle details about Derek. He had a small scar running down his forehead, had tanned skin, and a bulky figure. What made him stand out was his superpower.
Psychic ability. One of the rare and powerful powers anyone could have. He would be the king, and whoever partnered with him would rule the apocalypse.
This knowledge made Jade excited, and he opened his eyes, "Father! I found the key to success."
Hearing those words, Frank wasn’t excited. The last ti Jade had said the sa thing. He wondered if his son was going to ask him to release another snake this ti.
However, Jade’s words stunned him,
"Father, soon a thug nad Derek, who has recently been released, will form a team of his own and gradually loot supplies from others. Then he would beco an invincible boss in the apocalypse. You know what I an, right?"
Frank hesitated, his eyes gleaming. "Should I report him now and capture him? That way, he won’t be able to trouble the common citizens... but I won’t receive any rit."
Jade slapped his forehead. His father thought scheming couldn’t bear to see the citizens hurt.
But... Jade’s expression turned serious. From the visions he had, he knew one thing. This apocalypse wasn’t a temporary thing.
It might completely alter the way humans live and eventually beco a part of reality.
A new beginning will erge from this disaster. And if they want to rule in this new beginning, either they need to be acquainted with those in power or be a powerhouse themselves.
With that thought, he said in a serious voice.
"Father, you will have to help him and beco his friend, not report him."
Frank was stunned by his son’s words and shouted in protest, "Are you out of your mind, Jade? He will make others suffer! Though I want power and I want the Blackthorn family to be powerless, I can’t..."
"Father." Jade sternly stopped Frank. He stared into Frank’s eyes and said word by word, "The apocalypse... won’t be kind on us. It will last long and we can’t survive on our own. Either you replace Derek Cain’s place, which might not be possible considering that would change the future, or beco Derek’s friend."
Frank was frustrated, but he knew how his son’s superpower worked. He couldn’t change the future and could only minutely alter it.
By saving Frank, he had already altered the future, and they still don’t know what type of consequences they might face in the future.
In that case, Frank making friends who are destined to shine... would be a plus point for Frank’s survival.
Understanding Jade’s concern, Frank sighed and thought,
’My son is fighting for , I can’t let him down, right?’
